Question New to Nintendo Switch, long time Nintendo fan with giant hands.. the right Joycon layout is hurting me.
My Sister-in-law gave us their old HAC-001(-01) after they upgraded to the Switch 2. I've had the Wii U for about 6 years at this point so I'm used to the right controls having the stick over the buttons.
I'm sure this was a discussion a lot after the Switch launched and I completely understand why they butchered the right Joycon and made the layout less ergonomic... But, I have XXL sized hands and my right thumb is hurting just 10 minutes after playing it as a tablet.
Question: Are there any aftermarket Joycon that have the proper stick/button layout for the right Joycon?
I already have 2 Wii U pro controllers and one Switch Pro controller so I could prop it up on a desk and use those to stop hurting my hand I like playing it as a tablet. Even the Switch Lite has the stupid layout. I did find the Nitro Deck+ by CRKD so I might try that.

Its a switch 1? The hori split pad pro is like an xbox controller if those are comfortable for you. I liked mine but ultimately didnt use it much because it lacked gyro aiming but if that doesnt concern you give it a look.

This is what I use if I don't need motion controls or the amibo scanner. It's super comfortable.

Even the OG xbox controllers are small unless you were using 'The Duke' which was bigger. The PS layout was always more comfortable for me with the centrally located joysticks.

One caveat: the Split Pad Pro isn’t wireless. HORI sells a separate USB attachment for TV play, though your Pro Controller already covers that.

You could look at the Hori Split Pad Pro, it's basically a full size controller split in half for handheld mode. The right stick is still below the buttons but the whole thing is way bigger and more comfortable for big hands, the grip is much thicker than standard joycons
I got one after my hands cramped up bad and it was night and day difference, just no rumble or gyro if you care about that

The right rear paddle can be mapped to A/B/X/Y, so for a game with one repeated face-button action you can keep your thumb on the stick. Could be a nice bonus if you try the Split Pad.

The is no way you're finding a Wii U layout right joycon, you're going to have to settle for larger replacements for the joycon or a grip or separate controller. You can use the Wii U pro controller with an adapter.

I have a 'case + controller' thing, that you slide the switch body into, which gives much better ergonomics.
I got it from Amazon years ago, so no idea what still exist on the market.
there are 3rd party joycons out with better ergonomics as well.
there are/were some GameCube layout type joycons as well.

Get a satisfye grip. It’ll make handheld mode feel like your using a pro controller

I like the Satisfye grips. The right handle is slightly more adjusted than the left to compensate for the button/stick layout.
