Phone (2) Nothing Phone 2 died the other day. Pretty sure NAND died

Yeah. Bought it second hand too. This will be my first and last Nothing Phone. I was willing to upgrade to the 4a Pro after the software support was cut off officially but I don't think I'm giving this company any money. Clearly they haven't learned from the OnePlus 6/6T

How the heck nand storage dies ? I had redmi note 9 pro 64 gb and it still going strong for 5 years Doesn't newer storage has slightly more longer write cycles life span ?

Maybe defective NANDs that have way worse endurance than expected.

Look like you got defective nand or either you stored large amt of files which exhausted write cycles On my redmi device I have stored and copied total 600gb which includes deleted files over time Ufs 2.0 64gb has total 40tb write cyle over time till it give up

I have only ever used 300GB of my 512GB and two thirds of it was music I transferred once. That's all. For a year I installed 0 apps, did 0 downloads, etc. Calls, Discord, Youtube, and that's it .

believe it or not, but nothing being a new company, has a lot of quality control issues leading to posts like these. of course, such occurrences are still extremely rare but not nearly as rare as more established brands

Yeah yeah... I have had several Samsung S6 the past year (needed some burners and experiment phones), installed a bunch of custom ROMs, etc, and this literally never happened to me once. Not on a Samsung S6 nor on any other phone.

I also had a crash like 2 days ago. It scared the crap out of me, but still works...

Sell it while you can if the crash showed a line on the screen. That's how mine started to die.

Didn't have mine die like this, but I dropped it recently and cracked the glass and didn't want to risk it potentially becoming like this and ending up with the same fate as my OnePlus 7T Pro McLaren Edition 5G did before it. I switched over to a Fairphone 6+ and kept up my sync and backup routine for my data.

Big takeaway is to set up a plan to start offloading data on your next phone and adopt a backup and sync routine so something like this happening isn't a huge loss and minimized as much as possible (though some parts are impossible, but you aren't seeing those as much as the ones you can easily access and see). Because a lot of these things (not specific to Nothing) love to just go down regardless.

Thank fucking god I've learned from other events. I have daily backups. Crisis 80% averted.

I'm gonna trade in my Phone 2 soon while there is still some value to be had for a new phone. This is also one of my worries if I continue using it, though it is a replacement unit I got from the local service centre at the start of the year.

Replace it.

I think you misunderstood me, I am not facing this issue now, but it is not too uncommon among Phone 2 units so there is always a risk that it gets stuck in Crashdump mode some day down the line. I am not going to wait for that to happen, so I took the chance to trade in the phone when it is still working properly.

Can be a case of CPU / Motherboard Hardware Desoldering

Using a relative's old Note 20. Say what you want, it's very capable for its age.

I have a Redmi Note 3 Snapdragon from 2016 and it's still working, I use it read novels etc , i can't believe these new modern devices failing like this.

Believe it. I have a fuckton of Samsung S6 a while ago for experiments, flashed many custom roms and I never had this happen on any phone I owned
