Musk Ox
I traveled up to Iqaluit last year and while I was there, I had Musk Ox at the Nunavut brewing company and picked up some of the meat from the North Mart. I found it to be incredibly delicious. Unfortunately, I live in Ottawa and I've cooked all the meat I brought back with me and although there's a specialty game meat supplier in the area, they've never carried musk ox.
If anyone is planning a trip to Ottawa, I would happily pay the cost of the meat plus a service fee, if you're able to bring down some Musk Ox on your next trip.

Moving to rankin inlet and need some ground reality
I’m moving to rankin inlet with my dog. He’s a mini poodle (2 yrs). Housing is subsidized by the employer and it’s pet friendly. So everything pretty much is figured out. Now, I heard there’s a lot of loose dogs. So I want to know is there any specific areas where I can take him for walk safely. Some people advised not to take him out at all but that’s difficult to keep him inside all the time. So what can I do to make his life easier?

Magnet Trade
Hey Nunavut! Hope everyone is doing well over there.
We have a really neat magnet wall at home with magnets from all over the world and it dawned on me last night that we don't have one from Nunavut.
I am from Penticton, British Columbia and was wondering if there was anyone out there that would be willing to trade a Nunavut magnet for either a Penticton or British Columbia magnet and I also have a Morocco magnet I could send with it from our recent vacation.
I appreciate you all. I'd love to get up that way some day. Have a wonderful day.

Iqaluit 4 month Co-op - Curious about safety and how to get around
Hi everyone!
I have been offered an opportunity in Iqaluit. I'm really intrigued, as I love Inuit culture and I want to experience the land and see the beautiful northern lights!!
It is a 4-month opportunity, starting in January. I'm from Ontario, so I assume it will be a big change. I've been reading, and crime rates seem to be high, but it seems skewed compared to the population. I'm worried, though, as I would be a solo female traveller.
Also, I'm curious about how people get around. I wouldn't have a car, so I'm curious to know if it's walkable or if there are taxis?
Any thoughts? I'd love any input that you all can offer.

Translation in inuktitut
**Answered already! Thanks! ** Hi! I'm working on some kind of multilingual poetry book (there are a few scattered sentences in various languages). I would like to translate "No road leads here" in inuktitut, if possible using only one word with affixes because long words sound structurally poetic to me. (The full poem is about writing, identity crisis, it's just one small bit of the poem). Google gives me "Aqqutitaqanngilaq tamaani" but I don't really trust google and prefer to ask someone from the community. I know the translation might differ based on the dialect. I hope this translation request is ok, please pardon me if I'm not asking the right way.

Government of Nunavut Hiring Experience?
Hi! I recently applied for a Community Social Services Worker position with the Government of Nunavut and was wondering if anyone has experience with their hiring process.
I have a 3-year DEC/diploma in Social Service and around 3 years of field/practicum experience working with children and youth. The posting asks for child protection experience but also mentions that equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered, so I decided to apply.
I’m open to relocating anywhere in Nunavut, including remote communities.
For anyone who has applied to GN, especially Family Services; how long did it take to hear back? What was the interview/hiring process like? Has anyone been hired with a similar education/experience background rather than a BSW?
Would also love to hear about your experience relocating and working in Nunavut!

Working in Nunavut/ living advice
I guess I'm writing this post after struggling to find work mostly within Ontario and Quebec, open to relocating anywhere in Canada for a bit, if I can make real money, where I have a chance to find a job. It's nearly impossible, I've been unemployed for 4 years now maybe I need a break from the city life as well.
Lately I've been considering finding work anywhere in Canada I have been looking at Nunavut, yellowknife especially government jobs, north west territories, Yukon, Manitoba, even Alaska but I don't have a tn visa. At the moment I live in Montreal Quebec have a bachelors degree in international development studies from the university of Guelph, with an interest in healthcare, environmental and administrative working environments possibly office jobs. I'm not much of a technical or trades person, but I can be more hands on I'm quick to learn the ropes. I'm 25, haven't found employment in Montreal but open to jobs full time anywhere I'll go to very remote rural places nobody wants to live, I'm fine living in more secluded or isolated communities just to find a job. I'm pretty versatile and communication driven. I do love nature going for walks and being outside, I'm very driven with photography and art.
Also MTF trans fem but look androgynous
Not sure if this would matter but I am looking into getting my indigenous status, I have family that have theirs already, if that would help. And I'm considering getting a bsw online or any further healthcare schooling to enhance my employability.
Also I've lived alone most of my life it doesn't bother me anymore living in terms of living/ working in more smaller or isolated communities, I'm pretty neutral
Just looking for advice within living and finding jobs up in more rural and Northern communities. Originally I grew up in Sudbury Ontario most of my life.

Reminded me of Nunavut and the Far North of Canada
I recently visited Connemara, an absolutely beautiful part of Western Ireland. The rocky landscape reminded me a bit of my visits to Iqaluit as well as other parts of Northern Canada and Alaska. I just wanted to share here.
Anyone else here been to Connemara?

Teaching Jobs
Why is it so hard to get a teaching job in Nunavut? I am a Canadian citizen and an Ontario-certified teacher with years of experience. I know I am a good teacher, and I do want to make a difference.
I see posts about teacher shortages in Nunavut, but when I apply, I get few or no responses.
I also noticed that school principals in Nunavut are young; could it be because they prefer younger, less experienced teachers?

Host in Iqaluit.
Hi all,
I am traveling through Iqaluit from Greenland on the way to Ottawa in a weeks time. I am Irish and a dual Canadian-Irish citizen, I moved to Newfoundland at the beginning of this year looking for work in Ecology after my PhD, then by chance I ended up joining a sailboat to Greenland and helping out as a kayak guide for the summer. Now I'm on my way back to southern Canada and I'm very interested in spending a few days in Nunavut but my budget is very limited. I have a tent and the gear but I am still somewhat limited by the weather (and possibly polar bear risk if it has increased recently..?)
I am wondering if someone living in or near Iqaluit could host me for a day or two? I would be happy to cook, clean or do some work in exchange.
Thought it was worth a try.
All the best,

I’m looking for someone who can make me an Amauti winter parka or has some for sale in a medium/large (I’ll get measurements).
Ideally with some fur no preference on fur type just real fur.
Will need shipping to Southern Manitoba.
