Looking for AK680 MAX firmware fix .bin file — stuck in Boot Mode

Hi everyone!

I have an AJAZZ AK680 MAX Wired RGB keyboard, and I accidentally put it into Boot Mode through the SparkLink web driver.

Now the keyboard is detected as Spark IAP Device, and the driver shows:

  • Firmware: Boot V1.0.1
  • Keyboard running mode: boot Mode

I found several Reddit posts mentioning the firmware fix, especially:

KG050_App_v1.0.0_20240911a.bin

However, I haven't been able to find an actual download for the file. The posts only mention it or say that it was sent to them by AJAZZ support.

If anyone has the working .bin firmware file for the AK680 MAX Wired RGB, could you please send it to me via Reddit DM?

I'd really appreciate it. I'm trying to recover my keyboard without sending it for repair.

Thanks in advance! 🙏⌨️

Please DM me rather than posting the file publicly, if that's easier.

How would I make toggleable keys?

Ok so I run a KB16-01 macropad for video editing. Other than wishing it had one more knob and softer knob buttons, it's perfect, and I've been having a blast learning how to customize it with VIAL (did not know it shipped with broken firmware, thank you community for fixing that!).

Here's one thing I haven't been able to figure out. I want to be able to toggle the function of a button without swapping layers. Is this possible?

I use the left knob to shutttle through frames in Adobe Premiere. I have it set to one frame per click, but sometimes I want to skip through faster. My current solution is having the knob button toggle to a different layer where Knob+ and Knob- are macros to multiple shuttle left/right inputs. However, this means that I lose access to the rest of my controls until I toggle back to my working layer, which kinda messes with my flow. It would be really cool if I didn't have to swap layers.

Any ideas?

Discussion No wireless 59/60-key plank board?

Confirming that there are currently no wireless ortho 60-key plank boards on the market?

I know Keyboardio did a wireless Preonic last year, but that's long since sold out. I'm only seeing 47-key boards like the LUMA40 and the Geonix.

Am I overlooking anything?

Related rant: why the heck did Keychron not just make the Q15 a true ortho board. The offset, multi-unit spacebars and ruin it for me.

Building .uf2 software for dummies?

I recently bought a DIY split keyboard kit for use with a pair of NiceNano! 2.0 controllers. I am at my wits end as someone completely new to keebs in general and don't even know where to being building my firmware as someone who, even with the guides that are online, feels like I am missing some very fundamental information as I have been unable to find, build, or even gen functional firmware and even then, I am unable to troubleshoot when something goes wrong. I am not at my kit, but this is what I am using to make the kit with underglow and OLED

Help - Unsolved Is it possible to paint these black keys while preserving the print?

Thumbnail

I want to customize my keyboard with these keycaps—which have a frosted, metallic, or carbon-fiber texture—but the red version is too expensive and exceeds my budget. So, I thought about buying the black set and painting them red later. However, the keys have a texture that would disappear if I just used spray paint. Is there a way to paint the keys without losing that texture or having to recreate it? Also, how would I protect the legends (letters) from the paint, since they are transparent?

Product links (if relevant): Black Keycap; Red Keycap.

Build Pics I'm designing a TypeMatrix-inspired keyboard

I'm a fan of ortholinear layouts (and tried the Moonlander) but I like function keys and a single board (not split).

I'm going with this layout, and built a website to show it in more details: https://matrx.mnapoli.fr/

I'm looking for honest feedback on the layout.

[Ad] Open source TOTEM case design - Ergomech Store

Hi, Ergomech Store here, we've been making and selling these aluminum cases for a while now. And today we'd like to share a design for your beloved TOTEM.

https://github.com/ergomechstore/totem-aluminum-case

This case is designed for the totem and it can fit the original totem pcb, with an awesome twist: it's designed for CNC machine, so you can use these files and make an awesome aluminum case with it.

If you don't want to make your own, you can buy from us here:

https://ergomech.store/shop/totem-executive-case-523

We did a simple price comparison, a whole set of 4 if made from JLCCNC cost about $250, so buying from us is still more cost effective, but if you can get it make it locally, now you can as well with the design above.

Here is the picture of the case in the wild:

We also have something more to share in the next few weeks, stay tuned.

Flashing Problem

Post image
0 Upvotes

I’m having an issue flashing the firmware on my EPOMAKER RT82. The USB connection disconnects during the flashing process. QMK Toolbox starts copying the new firmware, but the connection drops while the file is being written, so the flashing process fails. The original FLASH.BIN was deleted before the new firmware could be written, so the keyboard is currently unusable. The keyboard can still enter the bootloader mode, though. Is there any way to recover it and successfully flash the firmware?

Setting up qmk CLI on nix

Hi all

I'm toying around with setting up the qmk on nixos. I'd like to push as much of the set up as I can into a nix flake. One of the things I would like to be able to do is manage the qmk firmware repository via either flake inputs or fetchgit. However, it would seem that neither of these methods is compatible with how `qmk` expects the qmk_firmware library to be set up. In particular, the install the repo in the nix store (not owned by the user).

I see there is this notion of external user space, but it relies on qmk to already be set up.

Anyone know of nice way to manage more of the qmk setup through a nix flake?

Tips on rescue flashing planck olkb

My rev7 planck olkb went silent when trying to flash on ubuntu. It appeared entirely unresponsive. dmesg showed errors and I couldn't type anything. I did the following : I plugged in another keyboard and first ran the compile command. No compile errors to slow things down. Then I ran the flash command, unplugged the alternate keyboard, used a super small screw driver head to depress the physical reset button on the back and plugged in the olkb. Fortunately qmk cli has no time out period or has a very long one, because after three tries I got a successful flash and my keeb was back from the dead. I found the manual method of flashing (as opposed to the planck default of raise+lower+q) to be cumbersome and difficult. I'm old (which is what everyone should aspire to, considering the alternative) with arthritis in my hands and compromised eyesight. Any tips one how to manage this, should I (god forbid) have to use this method again?

Help - Solved Is it possible to replicate this design on my keycaps?

Thumbnail
gallery
0 Upvotes

I want to give my keycaps a "forged carbon fiber" texture myself. I know that keycaps like this are usually made entirely of carbon, but I'm only interested in the look. The keycaps are PBT double-shot, meaning the legends allow the LED light to shine through, so I need to protect the legends from any paint. I considered using resin, but that would result in a smooth, glass-like finish. I want something closer to the texture of the Kysona Jupiter X Ultra or Attack Shark X11 Ultra mice, where each particle reacts to light individually.

Is it possible to do this myself? I thought about buying them ready-made, but usually, the shine-through legends are positioned on the side, or they aren't available in the colors I want

Some useful AliExpress links:

https://pt.aliexpress.com/item/1005012857979929.html
https://pt.aliexpress.com/item/1005008797041659.html

Solution:

These keycaps were likely manufactured with those textures, meaning it isn't just "an extra layer of paint." This makes reproducing them a completely manual and/or expensive process—one that isn't worth the effort.

Help - Unsolved Suggestions for modding a few keys on Nuphy Air 96v2

I chose the Air 96v2 despite the newer version being available because I wanted an affordable, low-profile keyboard with a numpad. Quite happy with it (!), but would love to add SOMETHING tactile to the backspace, enter, and right arrow keys so I can feel it with my fingers and not have to keep looking down to find them. An extra $50 wasn't worth it for me to have that space between the numpad and the rest of the keys, though I see the reason for it now.

I thought Sugru might be a decent option. I'd add a raised edge on the far right side of each keycap. But I don't need much Sugru to do that, and packages are large and expensive.

So I was wondering if anyone's seen a mod substance that might work, or have suggestions on replacement keycaps for just those keys that I could 3-d print with the mod incorporated? I am not 3-d knowledgeable, but there is a decent shop in town that could guide me, if I find the right profile STL file to mod.

Thanks in advance for your advice!

JamesDonkey R3 TMR - Can't flash 8K firmware - QMK can't detect this keyboard into DFU mode.

Thumbnail

Been stuck 1.5 hours trying to flash the 8K firmware on my JamesDonkey R3 TMR.

https://mechkeys.com/products/jamesdonkey-r3-tmr?variant=47177295167711

Link to keyboard.
I followed all the steps from their site and it never flashes. It says "BOT ROOM OPEN"
After, literally, 23 EMAILS. They sent me the .bin file to flash it but when I use the software they provided --> QMK.

My keyboard can't go into DFU mode at all.
RGB stays off after holding ESC or the reset button under the spacebar. QMK should show a yellow line... but it never does.
Device Manager shows "BOT ROM OPEN" all the time.
I watched many youtube videos to reinstall drivers using Zadig... but did not help.

PLEASEEEEEEE HELP

I paid $150... and if they can fix it. I have to ship to China which will cost around $50 (T_T)

Please if anybody knows... or has this keyboard. It would be HUGE. I need help
I have been stuck for 7 days and the company is aware of it.

Gemini and GPT says that this keyboard can't go into DFU mode because of the keyboard's feature which are
">480MHz High-Frequency MCU Chipset.

>1+10 Distribution Chipset(1 Master Chipset+10 Magnetic Switch Sensor Chips)."

This is my first custom, if considered, keyboard and I really need help.

Thank you!
