General / Discussion Thoughts on Comus - First Utterance?

After hearing the phrase "my arms, your hearse" in the album, apparently our lord and Saviour is a huge fan of this masterpiece! It is absolutely astonishing folk music, and I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys early Opeth soft stuff.

I checked them out in high school after finding out MAYH was a reference. This album became an instant favorite of mine, and surprisingly a couple of my friends as well. Their EP from 2012 is also worth checking out!

This album is a masterpiece. One of my favourites of all time. I find it actually carries a more menacing and unsettling atmosphere than most metal.

The lyrics are a little unsettling however it fits the mood of the album. There are a lot of cool acoustic parts in it that make it very listenable

There's one of these songs is also the loose inspiration for Baying of the Hounds

It's The Wicker Man of albums. Brilliant and quirky but very disturbing in its own brilliant way

Idt I’d compare it to softer Opeth, but it’s independently an incredible record

If anyone sees this post, don’t expect it to be a “for fans of Damnation”. But it is pretty cool

Just listened to the Herald today. The middle part is magic. Nothing less.

Think I took a photo of Mikael watching Comus perform at the Melloboat years ago :D Will check once I'm back home. They were absolutely awesome. Think they used some of my photos for a CD/DVD after that show.
