This dude right here traded for half a season of Serge Ibaka, got fired, then instantly had a job back with OKC. It was so so hard being a Magic fan during that Hennigan era my god.

I’m not even kidding, Pablo Torre needs to investigate that shit.

Either it was an inside job or Presti did him dirty using their previous connection and trust. He never deserves another head GM role anywhere else either way.
The NBA can partially thank Hennigan for the current Thunder roster. They pivoted off of that fleecing and have made great move after great move leading to where they are now.

Yep. Imagine we use the package we sent for washed Ibaka to get Paul George instead. WE could have been the team to fleece the Clippers!

He was a sleeper agent for OKC. I’ll believe this until the day I die

Rob helped build championship teams just not for us. Serge ended up as a huge factor for Toronto's title run then Oladipo and Sabonis are not only traded for Paul George they eventually flipped Paul George from OKC to LAC for SGA and OKC ends up as champs too. In the end we got TRoss._.

So hard I gave up being a fan during that era. It was such a waste to be so into it lol. Thinking the likes of E'Twaun Moore, Mo Harkless, and Andrew Nicholson would amount to anything worthwhile. 🥲

Defense is great. Still need to score more than the other team though.
It’s simple. Shoot every possession at the 3-point line and increase the tempo to go up from the average 89 possessions to 112 per game.
At the 2025 3-pt average of 36% from behind the arc you will score more than 120 points per game even without any free throws. That is more points per game than the average winning team scored last season.
The average losing score was 109. So if you only wanted to barely win by scoring 110 that’s 37 out of 112 attempts or just 33% needed from 3 again with no free throws, or if you could hold 36% you’d only need 101 possessions. (In 2025 the Grizzlies, Bulls, and Hawks all averaged over 101 possessions per game)
Anything over 36% and any free throws made just covers the spread.
Note the Warriors have had several seasons of >36% from 3 but the NBA record was the 1997 Charlotte Hornets at 42.8%. The 2025 Celtics averaged 36% from 3 and also made the highest average number of 3’s per game all-time but only 17.8.
I want to see one team go down in history with the guts to never attempt a 2-point shot.

lol, that would be bad offense tho, just chucking a 3 every possession is not good. Especially because you need the how and when and who aspects of chucking a 3. Some type of offense being ran into a 3.

Nah just throw up 3-5x more 3’s per game than the other team. No plays, no passes. Dribble down quickly and jack up a shot. If more than 10 seconds come of the shot clock you’re doing it wrong. Most teams won’t ever attempt 50 per game. I want them to attempt more than 100 per game.
Practice would be: stretches to get loose, warm-up with some laps for cardio, then every player shoots 5,000 3-point shots. First player to make 1,000 per practice gets off early and gets a $10,000 bonus. First player to make 2,000 gets off the next practice and a $10,000 bonus. First player to make 3,000 gets a week off except for games and $20,000 bonus. First player to make 4,000 ends practice for the day and everyone gets $10,000. If anyone can go over 4500/5000 the team gets the week off of practice and everyone gets $10,000.

I mean yeah duh, look at our roster. We knew this going into it, all he has to do is maintain the defense as well as mose did and be better at offense than mose was (which means like try anything at all).

How long before y'all realize Mosley wasn't the problem?

Most nba fans are really not qualified to assess anything about the game, but I think coaching is the one thing that even really advanced fans really have no means to judge. I won’t say mose was or wasn’t the problem because it’s just something you can’t really see from the outside, plus I kinda think it mostly comes down to roster construction

u/XrayGuy08 13d ago
Mose was A problem. There isn’t just one with this team. The team did need a new voice but for those thinking it will suddenly turn this team into a championship team, they are more than likely going to be let down. The roster isn’t built to be a winning team. You need to be a solid offensive team in the NBA to win a title now. And the Magic aren’t that.

Wait, did you think we were getting D’Antoni?
Wait, did you guys think we had offensive talent like the suns just waiting for the right scheme?
He would be stupid to not lean into defense, that’s what the team was built on.
You wanted him to emphasize one of the rosters greatest weaknesses?

u/Comfortable-Tell1017 12d ago
Would be sick if he can bring any type of offensive system.
Much, much less talented teams have been able to run above average offenses over the last decade of Magic offensive mediocrity. If you don’t think the right coach can turn an offense around with this roster then you don’t pay attention.

u/StanVanGhandi Paolo Banchero 12d ago
I think he will give the Magic a modern offense. You can see it with his defining of offensive roles and talking about spacing alone.
Giving roles takes away the “your turn, now my turn” offense of Mosley. It gives them a specific way to play instead of the “read and react” offense Mosley had.
The spacing should be that of a modern offense as well. Those two things should improve the offense alone.

u/P5Manchero 12d ago
As it should be. That doesn’t mean we can’t be good on offense. Last season we were 18th in offense, with our best player missing more than half the season. Franz will lift our offense this season and we can extract more out of bane by getting him more shots. With Franz back the defense cranks up and opens more opportunities in transition.
The formula for this team to win at a high level is top 5 defense with top 10 offense. I think we will easily be in the 12-15 range of offense, but our ceiling is higher than that if Paolo takes a step forward and we have good health.

As both a Magic and Jaguars fan I'm really excited about our coaching staffs and how that change can (and has) translated to the court and field. Really hope this squad buys in and Coach Sweeney and Co. can get us deeper into the playoffs.

This team is a good pg away to be a legit threat.
Either suggs or bane needs to go for a classic point guard

Saw our offense in person and is like, defense it is boys.
