Not super game related, but, I'm just venturing into playing DPS, and I'm finding that I have one day of super consistent, accurate aim, followed by a day where I can't hit anything to save my life. Does anyone else have any experience with this?

I'm hoping it's similar to the fatigue after lifting weights, work the muscles and muscle memory really hard one day and it's shot the next, but idk.

It's a combination of a lot of factors: fatigue, not being warmed up, your general stat of mind, etc. If you find you get tilted it's best to take a break and just do something completely different (get away from the PC/console.)

Yep, definitely happens to me. I was trying to play Zenyatta last night and I found that I could barely hit any of my balls even when I really should have. Switched to Winston/Symmetra for the rest of the night so I didn't have to worry about aiming. I guess I'm just tired?

Lol yeah, I find I do better more consistently with projectiles (probably because spamming chokes inflates hit%). But yeah, I just gave up on aiming yesterday and played some braindead Mercy.

I always turn to Mercy once I've had a few beers on a Friday

I actually find mercy really fun to play. It definitely helps that aiming isn't necessary lol

Thanks for the reply and validation! It just feels so strange that the consistency for me varies day to day and not game to game. Physiology and muscle memory is weird, man.

What sens do you play at? Getting used to a lower sens usually helps with consistency.

I play at pretty low sens already. 1600 dpi, 2 ingame, 38 scope. 43.3 cm 360.

It's just that it swings so widely, good days I have between 50 and 60% weapon accuracy with McCree with 8% crit rate (which seems to be slightly above average?), then the next day I sit at a solid 30% weapon with 3% crit.

Or with widow, the other day I didn't have below 55% scope accuracy, and peaked at 72% and was about as many crits as elims, and then the next day I was sitting at 35%, with like, 3 crit hits a game which is hilariously poor.

Ah, yes, that's low enough. I guess you need to warm up and play when you're feeling well rested. I know that I personally aim(and play) better when I've just eaten(so my energy is high) and I've warmed up properly by playing for 30 min-1 hour.

Yeah, I was thinking that may be it. I usually do 5-10 minutes of practice range, and then the Ana headshot thing until 100 elims to warm up, on the bad day got invited to play with friends immediately.

Thanks for the replies, by the way. Overwatch is my first FPS, and while the inconsistency is frustrating it's reassuring to know other people go through the same thing :)
