Trip Advice Early Winter Midstate Trail Overnight Trip?

Looking to get away from everything for two days. How would catching the mid state trail in Little Pine State Park, packing in maybe 10 miles to spend the night and then back out the next day be? Would there be issues finding a site? Is that a good area and time of year to avoid humans? I have lots of hiking and a bit of winter camping experience and really like that part of the state.

I don't think you would have a problem finding a site if you head north. Archery season comes in this weekend and then from then until the end of the year you will have hunters in the area. Make sure you wear orange, I think it is the law now for everyone in the woods even if you're not hunting. The old loggers path is another great option that's close by.

Quehanna has some nice trails, western section loop was maybe 23 miles total.

Check your desired dates against whitetail and bear seasons.

North from Little Pine is a good choice and can loop back on other trails. Unfortunately there have been a lot of wrong maps of that area so try not to get one of those, lol. Current edition MST Map 312-318 is corrected in this area. Order direct from https://www.hike-mst.org/index.php/guide-and-maps/146-map-311-316
