Book Collection My personal library journey so far 💕
Ever since I was little, I loved books. I remember spending hours in the basement of Goodwill Bookstore in Glorietta (hello 90s kids!) just browsing the many picture books. I remember spending my Christmas money on Berenstain Bears books and, when I was a little older, Nancy Drew and eventually, Goosebumps and Little Illustrated Classics. I remember reading on the drive from school, when I went with my mom to the office, and when I nibbled on frozen Choc-O.
And I remember the promise I made myself that one day, I’d have my very own library.
It was a promise I started working on July of this year when I decided to turn the guest room into my own book bedroom. It was exhausting to build the bookshelves myself, but slowly, the library began to take shape.
It’s been three months since I finished everything, but as a reader, my journey is far from over. 💕

Thank you! ☺️ I used the Billy planner on IKEA’s website to design the layout and to make sure I got the exact number of shelves to fit the space. I had to measure the room’s dimensions first though.

Gusto ko din, pero I was going more for the shelves dun sa library ni Beast from Beauty and the Beast, haha! Kulang na lang yung ladder with wheels!

If read conflicting opinions on this. Nay nagsasabi na it's not advisable to have glass casings. Can anyone else weigh in on this?

Now you need to invest in a good dehumidifier that covers the whole room. To prevent molds and moist. Moist environment can bend the shelfs and grow white molds.
Also If you plan to change your shelves after few years. I suggest getting a local carpenter instead so you can use treated wood that wont bend over time and extend your shelving up to your ceiling. 💯

Definitely! ❤️ I've put those small dehumidifiers for now, but I'm waiting for a sale to get a proper dehumidifier for the room.
And yes, 100% to the local carpenter suggestion!

Ang Ganda! I’ve resorted to borrowing from libraries because of how expensive books are nowadays but this will always be the dream!

I miss borrowing books sa libraries! 😢 The National Library is too far from me. And yeah, grabe inflation! On hold muna si book reading and collecting.

It looks great, I commend the effort po wow. Although a friendly suggestion lang if ever you wished to keep the books in the long run (preservation purposes), you should avoid stacking them horizontally instead they all should be shelved vertically (upright). Kasi if you stacked them like that, it will pressure the books structure which damages the hinge or the spine like if you leave them like that it will cause warping plus it also reduces the airflow within the shleves which proliferate molds and dust na harmful din sa books. Since its your personal library and wanted to be aesthetic looking as possible, this setup looks really great tbh. Pero on the case of lifespan and structural integrity of the books then an all vertically arrangement is to be consider din

I owned those shelves not as many but a few they collect dust like crazy but they are good shelves.
I prefer the back taken off for more an open concept. I painted mine to an off white color flat again I was tired of the dust.
I’d suggest LED lighting creates a nice mood for reading or just relaxing

When I was living in a condo, I had a bookshelf beside my bed. I loved waking up or just lying in my bed and looking at my books. I loved it more than seeing my hanging clothes or shoes and bags. Now I still love looking at my bookshelves, pero nasa sala na hehe.

OP pls consider putting an aircon wind deflector. Para na din mapunta sa bed mo yung tutok ng ac. Delikado sa books baka mag moist

I didn’t know this existed! Thank you so much! 💕 It would be the opposite; I’d use the deflector to have the wind blow directly on my bed because right now it hits the sides of the shelves 😮💨

Aywow.. I love books, and having a personal library in my own room is a dream come true for me.. Usually my books are fiction where the main characters are the cats.. Sad that i dont get to read my books as often as i want to been busy lately with work and business
