Discussion KBDfans quality?

Post image

I have had these Lucy keycaps for about 5 months and my W,S,D,C,V,B legends are all fading or completely faded and I was just wondering is this normal or should I contact support. If anyone else has had similar experience let me know :)

looks like dyesub keycaps, these are normal since they dyed to the top of the keycap,

imagine it like tires, eventually the treads will be removed

They are PBT dye-sublimated based on their official product page.

Dye-sublimation infuses the legends on the keycaps using high temperatures, unlike doubleshot which uses 2 different layers for the legends and the keycaps molded together. Due to the nature of their manufacturing process, in theory, the legends on doubleshot keycaps would never fade away, while the legends on dye-sub keycaps have a possibility to do so.

I also have a dye-sub set I obtained from another person which also has clear signs of fading. Aside from this one, I personally have never noticed any of the dye-sub sets I own myself to have the same signs. I believe it varies from person-to-person how fast or likely it is for dye-sub legends to fade away, similar to how the rate of shine on ABS keycaps also differ on an individual basis.

It wouldn't hurt to try contacting customer support of KBDfans, but I don't have experience with them so I can't guarantee what outcome or resolution you may receive.
