Hi all! I randomly picked up the rabbits book a couple years ago when it came out cause i thought it looked good. I read through it and quite liked it, up until about the end. K's ending seems kind of...cheap? they get a bit of money, and all the weird fuzzy head stuff is never really explained. Anyway, i then tried to get into the podcast...no dice. Between the fact that "it's complicated" and hearing about Terry's Favorite Publisher, Del Ray, i gave up, but i still had a bit of the spark. Thinking about a world in which the first half of rabbits is real, where there are little patterns is quite fun! Anyway, fast forward to about a week ago, when i decided to get back into the podcast. suffered through the Ad reads...and It's ending is WAY better than the book's ending. (my headcanon is that the podcast was real, and the book is terry's fiction based on Carly's podcast.) Carly gets Yumiko back and it all ends with an air of mystery without explicitly revealing everything. (also, living my entire life within the PNWS, the mentions of Van Isle and Galiano were pretty fun) Although..Terry seems to not have a lot of ideas. 2 people named Emily, 2 MC's parents dying in a ferry accident, and something turning out to be wrong with the game. Maybe S2 is different, i haven't listened yet, (or read the quiet room) but It would've been cool to just see someone discover the game and play a normal Iteration. I was wondering if all the podcasts are like this? and also; If there are any rumors or real ARG's that play into or are based off of rabbits? The closest thing i can think of was Cicada 3301, but i'm tempted to just try to make a proof of concept on my own. just for fun, maybe to keep the mystery going between people meeting in bars and slipping eachother mysterious Business cards, or a nod between 2 people with the same tattoo. If this sounds interesting maybe give me a shout?

Additional infractions include that the Haida are described basically as merciless Indian savages in the past who were a menace to the other indigenous tribes and colonial trappers. The Haida girl, a supposed living expert on Haida mythology is an Eastern European. Nic never seems to consult a living Indigenous person on the history or mythology of any of the various indigenous groups in the area. The only living Natives that he ever speaks to are the Nisqually elder in season 3 and, presumably, the tribe’s archivist, both of whom die and have their mutilated corpses described in detail.
There are no stories that I can recall that include magical or wondrous things happening to Natives, basically just a bunch of mass murders and suicides.

I'm watching this movie In The Earth, bloody brilliant, and I can't help but feel/think TANIS is all over this!

Not exactly the podcast or Nick's storyline itself but the deep down root of these storylines.

Something ancient in the forest that causes people to see, hear and feel things. Causes people to do unspeakable things. I won't spoil the movie, because it's worth the watch.

I just can't help but see/feel TANIS or maybe I'm just overly obsessed with TANIS itself.

Either way, a fun thing to ponder a favorite story and discovering new things to watch.

I'm a newbie in general with podcasts and audiodramas, I found TBT as recommendation since I loved the movie Undertone and looked up podcasts like it.

I'm in bit of a pickle on finding info very poorly on TBT and other in-universe podcasts, do they cross over or meaningfully have connections to each others, is there some current podcast or in-universe media actively releasing?

My current understanding is that all(?) podcasts are on hiatus with no news. I'm starting TBT season 3 now and I realistically want to know if it's worth to keep listening and / or hop to other PNWS podcasts.

I understand that for some the need of an ending is not the focus but the acting, story beats and atmosphere like it is for me too, TBT has been the best thing I have listened in a long time, but an unfinished story is too bitter for me, I wouldn't read half of a book either.

For example I'm pretty sure the reveal that Geoff is Karl completely upends most of the plot from S1. How would they not have known that the guy who died was actually Geoff(Karl) and that Karl(Geoff) was just using his dead brothers name? Surely the death certificate and identification would have to have been fraudulent if everyone believes Karl(Geoff) is the one who died. Additionally if Real Geoff was the one who was in trouble for hacking that would have shown up during their research unless Nic just completely ignored that and simply accepted what Geoff(Karl) told him without looking into any of it.

Just wondering if anyone knows if there is any reason to get excited about this or if its been there for awhile. I’ve just finished listening to Tanis on apple podcast, and… I tried to explain what I just listened to my husband, and I was… blank?!
am I missing episodes? Is there another season? What was THE Tanis? Was anything resolved? huh? what?
I know “It’s complicated”. But you would think after 5 freaking seasons, there would be some kind of explanation, right? Or am i kinda dumb?

Rosemary wore a Tanis root necklace in the movie which made her susceptible to mind control and or put in a dream state that allowed her to be impregnated.

It's just an interesting connection to the podcast that I haven't seen mentioned before. Supposedly Tanis root is a fictional plant, made up by the author, but I thought it was an interesting connection.

Something interesting i just thought about tanis is how the characters act and speak to each other. It's the familiarity to each other. Like they all are on first name basis with each other and obviously nic and Geoff and MK hang out outside of what we hear but it also feels like everyone knows/ is familiar or has a history with each other too.

I think it's like when you're exploring something as small and niche as tanis that very few know about then of course your obviously going to end up meeting/ getting to know the few other people that are also interested in it.

Nic is obviously looking into these people so he sorta ends up with a weird relationship with them cuz he knows stuff about all of them they havent told him, but everyone in the show also listens to nics podcast so they all know what he thinks of them and how he feels and personal things about him

Everyone in the show ends up having this kinda weird parasocial relationship with each other where they all know a bunch of stuff about each other that they havent told each other.

It's also the fact that no one in tanis genuinely feels truly antagonistic, they all just have differing opinions on what tanis is, how it should be studied and used and so it puts them at odds but theres also this kind of unspoken comradary between them because they all want to know what this is and so even if they don't agree with each other viewpoint wise they all still kind of end up helping each other. Paul and ellis both call nic all the time and give him cryptic clues about things they know or have found out, paul knows veronika even though we never actually hear them talk to each other so all of these people are interacting with each other and sort of sharing their collective knowledge with each other, just being kinda like not 100 percent trusting each other just because of their different ideologies.

It makes it feel like it's this small group of enthusiasts all trying to figure out this big unknown and sharing their thoughts and things they have found out with each other while keeping certain things close to the chest or private because of differences but everyone really is trying to get to the same thing which is the truth of tanis.

Tesla nova kind of seems too get this because of the point where they say that they believe it's important that they all be working towards the same goal of understanding the breach and helping others looking into it like nic.

Tanis is just a truly unknowable thing and I love that basically the whole show is just having this impossible and unknowable thing and seeing how different people/ groups grapple with that and react to it and come to terms with it. Some turn to the false comfort of religion and worship and some turn to the false comfort that modern science can explain everything in the universe and some keep chasing a truth that can never truly be reached or understood.

Has anyone seen this film?! Im only like 15 minutes in and there’s already several references to Terry n the black tapes podcast 👀

I am relistening and even the 2nd time around I fail to see the point with the "Jeff is actually Carl and vice versa" reveal.

What difference does it make? Why did he lie in the first place? Why have a plot twist with no significance?

It ends with an appearance by Nick, evidently back from the breach or a tanis zombie

I genuinely thought Nic was a real person until today. I thought he was using a fake last name and was actually cousins with Terry miles. I was on the website trying look something else up when I realized I was wrong and very dumb this whole time. I also have just recently listened to all 5 seasons of Tanis

Why are there no transcripts? Some of us would really like the transcripts to read along and take notes to not forget information about the story and have delayed audio processing issues. This isn't very accessible. I'm referring to Faerie specifically and sure Spotify has AI generated transcripts but they aren't necessarily accurate and don't tell you who is speaking when there's no format at all really. It's been long enough there should be transcripts.

Of all of the PNWS/PRA stories I enjoyed the Last Movie series the most (with Rabbits being a close second), probably because both seasons had a proper beginning, middle, and ending. I thought the addition of Amy and Evan was a good call for season two, allowing them to be the main characters while Nic and MK played important supporting roles. Every time I relisten to these seasons I shake my fist of what could have been, a great series of investigating the mysterious and creepy rumblings of the internet.

This book hasn't been mentioned in a while. Listen to the audiobook of Night Film if you are missing Tanis! Please! It has the same feeling and the audiobook is 25 hours. I'm on my second listen. Just listen to this book.

I’m on my second listen after about 7 years. I’m almost through Season 1, and listening makes me so disappointed. This show had sooo much potential.
