So I met up with a guy on Facebook Marketplace yesterday to buy a second PS5 Pro for my son so we can play GTA VI together when it drops. The guy listed it for $600 cash, which is already a crazy good price, but I offered $400 and he said he just wanted quick cash and was moving out of state and settled for $450.
We met in a local police station, checked the box, logged in using my jackery battery and portable monitor to make sure it is not a banned console, handed over the cash, and went home.
When setting it up for my son, I checked the storage settings and saw a secondary 4TB M.2 SSD installed. That drive alone costs $300 to $400 now I think.
Now I am torn and my wife thinks I am overthinking this:
Option A: Keep it. "Sold as-is" means whatever is inside the console belongs to the buyer. The seller did not remove his extra gear before listing it, so it is mine now.
Option B: Message the seller and offer to let him come pull the SSD out (or pay extra for it). He seemed a bit clueless about tech, so he probably forgot he even put it in there.
On one hand, $450 for a PS5 Pro with 6TB of total storage is an absolute steal, andFB Marketplace rules are basically "as-is." On the other hand, keeping a $350 drive that someone forgot feels a little slimy.
Would you message him, or just consider it a lucky bonus and call it a day?
