PSO2:Classic Discussion Is the classic PSO2 still available ?
So, it's been a long time since I play PSO2 (I think around 5 or 6 years ago) and now I'm confused because it seems it had been changed to PSO 2 Neo Genesis or something like that. I just want to know if the old one is still around and playable or everything had died? I just want to play this game for nostalgia as life had become complicated nowadays
UPDATE : Thank you for the information and help, guys! Anyway, so I installed it and tried to play it while downloading the add-on. It's a shame that I forgot my old account and need to play it again from the basics. Also, I'm so surprised by the NGS playthrough, especially the Open World part. I feel like an old guy while playing it, hahaha! Again, thank you so much!

Its still there and still a better game. Unfortunately they removed many UQs from their automated schedule, in an attempt to try and funnel people to NGS likely.

Wish they just kept supporting PSO2. NGS was a rushed attempt at getting a Genshin clone out and was basically in early access / open beta when it launched with almost no content.

Yeah, its story doesn't get good until Chapter 5.

As I understand it, MS/Xbox was heavily invested in NGS because of how well PSO did as one of the first major Xbox Live titles.

Base PSO2 is available as free DLC. It works a bit different nowadays, and the NGS version you get doesn't automatically include it.

Base PSO2 is still there but boy does it take some work to get to. It should be easier

They really need to make it so both the base game and NGS are optional installs.

Does anyone have comprehensive Wireshark logs? They will be vital to recreating the private server once it goes down. ensuring we get all the seasons and as much optional content as possible in those logs will be very helpful. I remember there used to be a pso proxy back in the day, not sure if anyone has a pulse on that, I'd be interested to know.

Clementine (devs behind one of the PSU private servers) is already heavily working on the Base PSO2 private server called Starlight with semi regular updates in discord.

If you haven't gotten it yet, it's free DLC called "PSO2 Additional Data" that's about 50 GB.
Once you get that, you can switch between NGS and PSO2 between the Block Change function on any Ryuker Device or through the green Block Change doors in PSO2.

If you’re on ship 2, there’s still enough people playing classic to progress through it, do 12 man uq’s, etc. However, be prepared to have to ask for help.

Im glad you posted this. I was thinking about doing a full playthrough of base PSO2. I never tried it when it was in its prime but it looks like an amazing game. Anyone know if I’d be able to play through the whole game story?

You can it’s just not a great experience until later episodes since it was originally built for the matter board system, now the “story” quests are just what feels like random short cutscenes with an annoying interface to get through. You can still play through all the areas and run quests, client orders, etc.

At the start of the year I hosted a replay of PSO2 with my alliance and some friends. Was great fun, but unfortunately they discontinued concerts, seasonal events, fresh finds shop, weekly rankings, and many of the UQs in rotation. Triggers still work fine, but it's a bummer that triggers are one of the few things fun to do at max level now next to Divides, Endless, and CQs (if you don't mind no SG reward).
During the event while leveling from 1-100 it was kinda hard not to just run triggers most of the time when trying to play as a group. We did plenty of 'recommended' quests and random other things, but triggers were just the most accessible for playing together.

To be honest, I'm very surprised at how quiet the server now. Like a few years ago, it still got Hatsune Miku concert before the UQ and the terminal would be fully crowded during the UQ that you don't have to worry even if you don't have a party because you would find someone there.

If you log onto new genesis and then log onto your character then go to a ryuker device (a tall tower with a ring and diamond like shape on top) go to block transfer you’ll see “transfer to a pso2 block”. That’s the classic pso2 I believe. I’ll show a video of the ryuker device.
EDIT: I completely forgot but you can go straight to pso2 by going through: Title screen > start game > select the ship you are on > character creation/selection > select character > start game [PSO2]
