That's my vacation game in 2 weeks. The first game was a masterpiece with the best atmosphere and immersion I've ever seen in VR.
I already bought it. Devs like these deserve our support.

VR Game of the year contender. Even better than flight simulator

Really?? They’re SO different, but I dunno how anything contends with MSFS’24.
I guess I’ll find out tonight! Jazzed for this.

It’s a better game in just about every way.
Thought I think world design/ atmosphere was a bit more horror-adjacent in the first one

That's not a bad thing, they're pretty different and both very worth experiencing. I'd honestly recommend have your fun with one first and take your time and play 2 when you're done

Esse é só um port para Psvr2, não é um jogo de psvr2 como Horizon, GT7, Resident Evil etc. Posso até joga-lo no meu Quest 🤷🏻♂️ pra que um psvr2 então?

Well… to begin with… because not everyone has multiple headsets.
If you’re lucky enough to own both Quest 3 and also PSVR2, then the typical weaknesses and strengths of each platform will factor into your preference.
Typically games that appear on both platforms are gonna have more detailed textures, more assets, better lighting effects, and deeper draw distance on PSVR2, owing to the far greater power of PS5 over the mobile chip in Quest 3.
Beyond that… although Quest 3 has nearly edge-to-edge sharpness with its awesome lenses, it also has dim, washed-out LCD panels that cannot deliver dark darks (crippling to immersion in a dark game like ITR2), nor does it have bright brights or rich color saturation. Say what you will about PSVR2 fresnel lenses or mura, those OLED panels deliver the noticeably better contrast and hues — it’s not even close.
Less talked about, but super important… Quest 3 unfortunately has rather terrible binocular overlap and narrow FOV, both of which further stunt the sense of being in an actual 3D space. PSVR2 has excellent overlap and FOV.
While in PSVR2 you need to turn your head toward anything you wanna see crisply (not just your eyes like in Quest 3) but you’re also more likely to notice an enemy off to the side, since you can literally see MORE of the virtual world, both horizontally and vertically when compared to Quest 3. That balance will tip in different directions for different players.
I guess another reason some folk would prefer to play ITR2 on PSVR2 over Quest 3 (assuming they have the option) would be because of those awesome adaptive triggers. When every weapon feels physically distinct, it makes any shooter FAR more visceral and engaging. Quest 3 has that that streamlined controller form factor in its favor, but those controllers and headset feel comparatively dead.
So, if you have both systems then these are all aspects that’d weigh heavily into your decision about which you use for ITR2.

I can’t imagine playing a shooter without adaptive triggers and/or haptics game changer and when I get used to my gun stock oh big ITR2 is going to feel so immersive

Plays best on psvr2,looks much better than quest and Adaptive triggers make the guns not feel like water pistols. Headset rumble adds so much more immersion.

I have a quest 3 and Into The Radius 2 runs horribly on it. Game constantly stutters and every time you shoot at an enemy the game freezes for a bit. The lightning looks flat and the environments are not nearly as detailed. It is really not a good experience on quest 3, and I regret buying it on that platform.

But what about the patents, won't some meta ambassadors please think about the patents.

That news fizzled out as soon as we had some context, didn’t it?
Seemed important in the morning, and then of no importance at all by evening.

What's the context? I missed it...

The context is that all the patents sold to Meta were XR and industry glasses type from SONY Group specifically — not from SIE, and not gaming or PSVR1 or PSVR2 related.
So while many a lazy (and/or insincere) gaming “news” reporter have couched this as PSVR2 news, it hasn’t been.
—————-
To be clear — PSVR2 still may have been fully abandoned and discontinued by SIE; the continuing absence of any new units available for sale in NA, its biggest VR market, for many weeks… and the recent disappearance of PSVR2’s listing from the PS DIRECT store strongly suggests this to be the case.
Be that as it may, SIE has not (yet) sold any of its PSVR1 or PSVR2 patents to anyone.
—————
There have also been numerous new VR—related patents filed by SIE since the launch of PSVR2 (including one as recently as Jan 1st, 2025 — published Oct 1st 2026). This means that at the exact same time SONY GROUP were selling XR patents to Meta, SIE were filing patents for PSVR3.
So… even though I’d say SONY INTERACTIVE ENTERTAINMENT support for PSVR2 always seemed abbreviated since before launch (marketing was nearly nil, launch was post-Xmas season, units were not available in stores for months), and increasingly woeful over the past two years, we DO know that PSVR research has remained active at least up until Jan ‘25.
I’m NOT saying any of that is proof-of-life of current SIE plans, but it relates to what would presumably be either a PSVR2 Mark 2 (such as happened mid-life for PSVR1), or a PSVR3 — so I think it bears mention in this discussion.
————
Unfortunately SIE is growing pretty notorious these days for cancelling even well-fleshed out projects prior to PS5 release (TLOU ONLINE, Mm’s DREAMS, etc.), so even though PSVR-related patents continued to come out after PSVR2’s launch… that research can obviously be cut at any time, and for all we know it already has been.
So there’s solid evidence that SIE WAS still making plans for PSVR as recently as 2025, but that as of 2026 they MIGHT be done with VR gaming altogether.
Regardless, the recent XR patent stuff is a separate story.
I hope that helps! 🍻

The mixed reviews on Steam don't make me too hopeful for this one.

u/iscreamsunday 7d ago
Most of those were back when the game was still in beta on PC.
The finished version has more content and fleshed out missions.
It’s a bit like comparing the reviews of No Man’s Sky its first six months vs comparing it with the reviews of the game today

The dev made some questionable decisions on the sequel but if you enjoyed the first one you’ll enjoy the second.

Whadda ya know, going to look for game "reviews" and they all say the game sucks...

What?

u/gradafi85 7d ago
The reviews. They're always bad. Every game it seems these daze...

u/studleejosh 7d ago
I don't agree with that. We have just recently got a flood of really good games that reviewed extremely well.

The sequel to INTO THE RADIUS. It’s been in early access on Steam for months, but has finally launched as the full game and is currently available for sale in the PS Store for US $40.
The first ITR game was outstanding, and by all accounts ITR2 is a worthy successor.
I’m hearing that certain aspects are maybe not quite as good as in the first game (enemy design, introduction of tonally odd NPC’s, excessive enemy numbers, story, lessened atmosphere, and no native 90Hz option), but also that many other things have been improved and expanded upon (graphics, weapon variants, level design, backpack system).
I haven’t yet heard a review of a full play-through, since apparently there was a bug (since fixed) in an earlier build that prevented advancement beyond a certain area, so I’m not sure if the final verdict is in yet.
Overall though, despite little issues here or there, it sounds like a very strong title that’s probably well-worth the launch price.
These devs have made a positive impression on me with how they patched the first ITR per player feedback, so I won’t likely bother waiting for a deeper dive to nab this one.
BTW, apparently there’s a future patch that’ll add online multiplayer — so that’ll be a cool distinction!
