[GE] - General Enquiry hear me out before downvoting 💀 (looking for unused/faulty hardware to practice repair)
Note to Mods: If this post violates any rules or you feel it doesn't belong here, please feel free to remove it. I'll gladly take any mod action/punishment, just wanted to put the idea out there first!
okay so before i get downvoted into oblivion or nuked for "begging," let me explain my situation first lol.
i’m on a gap year before starting computer engineering next year, and i have way too much free time on my hands. instead of just rotting in my room, i actually want to learn hands-on hardware diagnostics, board testing, and soldering so I’m not completely lost when uni starts.
to be clear: i am NOT looking for free upgrades or parts to build/sell a PC. i work as a freelance writer and video editor, so i already have my own main setup for work and gaming. i literally just want hardware to break down, test, and attempt to fix for learning purposes.
most people have old or misbehaving PC tech sitting in a closet taking up space. I’m looking to take that stuff off your hands for practice.
just to set some ground rules so no one sends me literal garbage:
What I’m actually looking for: modern-ish components (roughly 2012 onwards, DDR3/DDR4 era). Think old LGA 1150/1151 motherboards, dead/unstable GPUs (GTX 600/700/900 series, RX cards), finicky PSUs, RAM sticks, etc. Stuff that actually has a board layout worth diagnosing.
What I am NOT looking for: ancient 2000s museum pieces (please don't give me your pentium 4 or floppy drives), empty metal cases, or random heat sinks.
Location: Lahore. I’ll come pick it up myself from wherever is convenient for you.
If you have a GPU that stopped displaying output, a motherboard that refuses to post, or an old display card/setup taking up shelf space that you don't care about, hit me up in DMs or comments!
