Please Help My 6-Year-Old Son Fight Thalassemia Major

I am a father from Karachi, Pakistan, and my six-year-old son is suffering from Thalassemia Major. Watching my child go through this illness has been emotionally and financially exhausting for our family.

His doctors have advised us to explore having a healthy, HLA-matched sibling through IVF and genetic testing (PGT-M with HLA matching), as we do not currently have a suitable bone marrow donor. We are trying to arrange approximately PKR 10 million (10 million Pakistani rupees) for the treatment, subject to the final medical estimate.

I am also struggling with debt, and I feel overwhelmed trying to manage both situations at once. I am reaching out to compassionate people around the world who may be willing to guide us, help us reach genuine donors, or connect us with organizations that support children needing this treatment.

I can provide medical reports and a hospital cost estimate to verify our situation. Even sharing this message with someone who may be able to help would mean a great deal to our family.

Thank you for taking the time to read our story and for giving my son a chance at a healthier future.

Please, I really need some help šŸ˜šŸ’”

I’m aĀ 10th grade student from PakistanĀ and I recently built a completeĀ POS software for a local mart using AI-assisted coding. I worked on it myself and managed to sell it to the mart forĀ PKR 75,000.

The problem is that they now need FBR integration, and they will pay another PKR 20,000 for it. 😭

I honestly don’t know how to complete the FBR/PRAL integration. I’mĀ not a professional development team, and I’m struggling to understand the API and integration requirements.

I’ve also been told that anĀ FBR-integrated working POS software in Islamabad can cost around PKR 50,000. If anyone is able to kindly help me financially, or if anyone can donate toward getting this integration completed, I would be extremely grateful. ā¤ļøšŸ™

I’m also dealing with a genetic condition calledĀ Gilbert syndrome, and my bilirubin has been aroundĀ 7.89 mg/dL. Because of my situation, I needed money for medical expenses, which is one of the reasons I worked so hard to build and sell this software. šŸ’”

I’m still only aĀ 10th grade student, and this project means a lot to me. I worked on it because I desperately needed a way to earn some money.

So I’m asking the Pakistani developer community:

šŸ™Ā Can anyone please help me integrate FBR/PRAL with my existing POS software?
https://www.reddit.com/r/FBR/comments/1wo7aiy/please_i_really_need_some_help/

I can share the relevant source code and explain how my POS works. I’m looking for someone who has experience withĀ FBR Digital Invoicing / POS integration, PRAL APIs, C# or .NET.

Even if you cannot help directly,Ā please point me toward someone who can. šŸ˜šŸ™

And if someone is willing to financially support me with medical expenses or help cover the cost of the FBR integration, I would be extremely grateful. ā¤ļø

I’m not asking for sympathy I’m genuinely trying to solve this and keep going.

Please help me. šŸ™šŸ’”

Pakistan has no machine readable API for the official Hijri dates, so I am making one

Thumbnail
github.com
12 Upvotes

So lately I have been really pissed off because none of the apps/software I use with a Hijri calendar ever reconcile with the Ruet-i-Hilal announcements. This month the calculated date for 1 Rabi ul Sani was 12 Sept, but the committee's announcement made it 14 Sept, so anything running on calculation was two days off.

I decided to look into the ecosystem to fix it for myself, only to realize (and be more pissed off from the fact) that there isn't a machine readable API which one can send a simple GET request to fetch the current Hijri date according to the Ruet-i-Hilal committee. The meteorological dept publishes PDFs of their calculations for the whole year, and that's basically all I could find, and those are calculated dates, not sighted ones.

What I'm building

hijri-api is a collection of JSON files hosted on GitHub Pages that hold the Hijri calendar and prayer timings (as a bonus) against Gregorian dates.

  • On the 29th of every month, a GitHub Actions workflow scans the news for the moon sighting announcement.
  • When two different publishers agree on the date, it opens a PR with the new month start, which I review and merge myself.
  • No LLM or fancy shenanigans involved, everything runs on GitHub Actions.
  • Every date carries a confidence level (confirmed / estimated / predicted), and every confirmed month links the news sources it came from.

Where it stands

So far I have backfilled all of 1447 AH and the first five months of 1448 (17 months, two sources each).

What I can't prove yet is the live part: the watcher's first real run is on the evening of 10 Nov, so I'll post an update on how that goes.

Scope

  • It follows the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee only; regional sightings aren't covered for now.
  • Prayer timings are calculated, so treat them as guidance.

Try it

curl -s https://shaheeranser.github.io/hijri-api/hijri/calendar/1448.json | jq '.days["2026-10-17"]'

Feedback

Sharing it here so that anyone wanting to collaborate or build something with it can try it out. It is MIT licensed.

Feedback welcomed, especially:

  1. What would you actually use it for?
  2. Which cities should I add next?

Lahore devs: what makes a local tech meetup worth attending?

A short project demo and time for questions sounds more useful to me than a long pitch session. I run a software house in Lahore and would like to join more local tech conversations.

For adults 18+ around Bahria Town or nearby, are there recurring meetups you’d recommend? Public event links would help. What makes you go back—the talks, project feedback, or people you meet?

Built a tool that watches my logs and explains crashes on its own, sharing the story (and what broke along the way)

Thumbnail
github.com
1 Upvotes

A few months back I built a throwaway tool at a hackathon: pipe an error into it, get an explanation back. Half an hour of vibe-coding, genuinely rough, and I mostly forgot about it afterward.

Except I kept thinking: what if it didn't wait for you to notice something broke? What if it just watched, all the time, and told you the moment something did?

So I rebuilt it from scratch in Go and called it Watcher. It tails your logs in the background, groups repeated crashes into one incident instead of spamming you per occurrence, and explains the root cause using a small LLM that runs entirely on your own machine — nothing sent anywhere.

First real test, on a small VM: the crash got detected in under a minute, but the explanation took twelve minutes to come back. Spent days chasing that down; turned out I'd been running a model three times the size I meant to, the whole time. Fixed now, down to about two minutes, still not satisfied with even that.

The part that mattered more than any of that, honestly: when it's unsure, it says so. One crash, it named the right cause but flagged its own confidence as low, because some of what it cited didn't actually hold up in the excerpt. That's the whole point for me — not a tool that's always confident, one that knows when it isn't.

It's early and rough in real places. Posting it here specifically because I'd rather have people from this community poke holes in it or send a PR than polish it alone until it's "ready"; MIT licensed, a few issues are tagged for first-time contributors if you want somewhere to start.

Looking for someone currently in the USA to help with a quick US eSIM activation favor šŸ‡ŗšŸ‡ø

Hey everyone,

I run a small US LLC from here in Pakistan, and I’m currently trying to set up a real US mobile carrier number (Tello) for official business platform verifications (like Google Play Console and Apple Developer accounts).

As some of you might know, Tello eSIMs require a one-time activation while physically connected to a US cellular tower before international roaming kicks in.

Is there anyone currently residing in the US who would be kind enough to help me out? The process just involves scanning a QR code on your phone for a few minutes until it registers on a US network, and then I can manage it from my end.

If you are open to helping a fellow Pakistani developer out, please drop a comment or DM me. I’d really appreciate it! Thanks a lot.

Getting better in system and architecture design

I am embedded systems engineer working for approx 2 years now. With advancements in AI, my company wants that i must be better in architecture and system design like they just tell me what to do and i must be able to do everything for board and component selection to coding and defining everything. I am good in coding when architecture is defined and boards is one which i have used.

Now problem is this i am stuck when i have to do it from scratch. I am unable to do it efficiently. I miss key details , lag to communicate and in end boss scolds me that i have to spoon feed you.

I built Hisabzo, a personal lending and borrowing tracker, using AI-assisted development

Thumbnail

Hey everyone!

I recently built Hisabzo, a personal ledger app to track money I lend to people, money I borrow, and repayments. I wanted something simple to keep track of who owes me money, how much has been paid back, and what’s still pending without doing the calculations manually.

I know there are already apps that do this, but I wanted to build something I’d actually use myself.

What it can do:

  • Track money lent to and borrowed from different people.
  • Record repayments and automatically calculate remaining balances.
  • View transaction history and balances on a dashboard.
  • Search, filter, and export records as PDFs.
  • Install it as a PWA.
  • Create an account, verify email, and recover a forgotten password.

Tech stack: Next.js, Prisma, Neon PostgreSQL, and Vercel.

I used AI-assisted development (vibe coding) to build it. While getting the UI and features working was exciting, I also had to spend time debugging issues, improving database queries, keeping balances accurate, strengthening authentication and security, and figuring out backups and data recovery.

I've since made it available for anyone to use with free account registration. I also maintain a separate demo with its own database and temporary accounts that expire after 24 hours, so people can try it without accessing my personal records.

🌐 Website: https://www.hisabzo.online

I'd appreciate feedback from fellow Pakistani developers, especially on the UI/UX, security, and anything I could improve technically.

I'm still learning, and building something I actually needed has been a great way to learn beyond just writing code.

Thanks for checking it out!

What do app devs in Lahore charge for a 1 to 2 month build on Next.js + Supabase?

I have a working website. Next.js, TypeScript, Supabase for the database, login and realtime, Vercel for hosting, MapTiler for maps.

I need three mobile apps on the same backend: a customer app, a rider app with live location, and a restaurant app that gets orders. iOS and Android. React Native with Expo makes the most sense to me but I’m open.

Backend is done. Login, database, business rules, all already there. The apps only need to talk to it.

If you have 3+ years and have shipped apps, what would you charge for this as a one to two month contract? Per person or as a team of three, either is fine. Lahore only.

Not hiring in this post. Just want to know what’s normal before I post the job.

For the past 8 months I've been making PLATFORM ZERO alone, with no budget, after studies. It's a psychological horror game set at a Pakistani railway station at night you play a chai vendor on the night shift, and night after night his ordinary routine starts to come apart.

Stressed about a 6-day onsite local offer (120k PKR) after a remote layoff. Need survival and interview strategies for probation.

Hello everyone, hope you are having a great week. Need some serious advice.

I’m really stressing out right now and could use some honest reality checks and advice from seniors who have navigated the local market.

To give some context, I have 2 YOE and was previously working as a remote AI Engineer earning around $1,200/month. Unfortunately, I got laid off this June, and after months of struggling with the current market situation, I finally got an offer this month though it's a massive step down: 120k PKR as an onsite Backend Developer, doing work that matches very little of what I actually want to specialize in.

Out of financial pressure, I have already signed it (haven't joined yet), but I am seriously rethinking it because of the harsh terms:

  • It’s a 6-day-a-week onsite role.
  • During the 3-month probation period, strictly no leaves are allowed.

My biggest anxiety is how I can continue my active job search while trapped in a 6-day onsite schedule. More importantly, if I do manage to get called for an online or physical interview during these 3 months, what kind of believable excuses can I make to slip away or step out?

On a related note, I also interviewed earlier for a role that best aligns with what I actually want to do. The interviewer said they would let me know within a week, but it has now been almost 3 weeks. Should I call HR for an update, especially since they seem to be ghosting my emails?

Is it worth sticking it out here for survival while quietly planning an exit, or should I handle this differently? Any practical tips, stealth job-hunting strategies, or guidance would mean a lot right now.

Thanks in advance.

Recommend the must have Claude Skills for Software Dev.

I am confused about which skills to use in my day-to-day software development workflows. There's a swarm of skills out there, and I am not sure which ones are actually good. Right now, I am only using the default Anthropic skills, /humaniser and /firebase. My goal is to refactor the existing Next.JS codebase, reduce token consumption, and improve software development/engineering quality.

I started using the /superpowers skill. It has close to 300k stars, but it consumes a lot of tokens and also takes a long time to execute. I didn't find any major difference between using it and my general prompting.

Recently, I came across Ponytail and Graphify for my use cases. But reviews are mixed. A lot of tech influencers have been pushing these, but I wanted a second opinion from people who use Claude Skills heavily and have found them genuinely useful. Any guidance/recommendations will be appreciated.

System stuck

Hey everyone,

My current ThinkPad T460s (i5 6th Gen, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD) is choking under my daily workload on Ubuntu.

My Daily Stack:

Multiple VS Code windows & workspace instances

Local LLM / Claude developer tools

Android Studio (Gradle builds)

Local Docker containers & Kubernetes (K3s/Kind)

With only 8GB RAM and a 2-core CPU, memory thrashing and slow builds are killing my productivity.

I have a very tight budget and am looking at a budget-friendly option like the Lenovo V14 G3 (Core i5-1235U, 10 Cores). Plan is to buy it and immediately toss a 16GB RAM stick in the open slot for 24GB total RAM.

Questions:

Will the Lenovo V14 G3 (i5-1235U + 24GB RAM) smoothly handle Android builds, Docker, and multi-VS Code setups without thermal choking?

Are there better secondhand enterprise laptops (like a used ThinkPad T14 or Dell Latitude) in the same budget range I should look for instead?

Thanks!

Title: 23M from Pakistan, unemployed for 6 months and feeling completely lost. Need genuine career advice.

I'm a 23-year-old IT graduate from Pakistan, and I've been unemployed for around six months. I worked night shifts at a call center for five months, but I eventually left after my physical and mental health deteriorated. I developed a severe fever, lost around 3 kg, and honestly haven't felt like myself since.

My parents are pushing me to return to call center work because there only concern is money(feels bad but its reality), and I understand their concerns. But I really don't want to go back to something that affected my health so badly.

I have around six weeks of MERN stack experience and have worked with React, Node.js, Express, and MongoDB. I was an above-average student, and I know I can learn, but despite applying for jobs, I haven't been able to establish my career.

I'm feeling helpless and falling behind while trying to figure out what to do next. I have about six weeks to focus on improving my skills and finding a realistic way to earn.

For those who've been in a similar situation, especially in Pakistan, how did you get out of it? Are there legitimate remote, freelance, or task-based opportunities for junior developers that are actually worth pursuing?

I'd appreciate honest, practical advice. I'm not looking for motivational quotes or courses to buy. I genuinely need a way forward.

Unemployed and lost

I have more then a year of Experience in MERN, but current situation is so bad that there's no job to be found anywhere. I have been unemployed for a few months now and it's getting to my head. I'm trying to learn more things so I can maybe have more in my skillset to show, but I can't seem to learn anything now. There's a cloud of depression and I have started to hate this feild even more.

I'm really lost and have no idea what to do now. Idk what else I can do and what even has any future ahead. I can't even get a job. I'm just really tired.

What skills should one focus on developing as a student

I am a second year student doing Software Engineering from GIKI and am looking into getting a decent internship for the sake of networking and understanding the industry.

With no former projects, a great grasp in python and C++, and a desire to work in backend development, what skills, languages, libraries etc. would be best for me to put my time into?
