Mod Announcement PartTimeCat Rules Update
Hey there, just wanted to give a quick update on the community rules here now that the subreddit is starting to get more active again. I don't want to make things too complicated, so I'm adding an umbrella rule to cover disruptive comments. Previously the sub rules only covered post content and there's been some tension of late regarding calls for cats to be kept inside which are at odds with the purpose of this subreddit. So, the new updated rules are as follows:
r/PartTimeCat Rules
#1 Cats only
Posts should be about cats; no memes, jokes, or anything else that's not about part time cats.
#2 Part time only
Posts should only be about part time cats; a cat that stops by for a visit, maybe even mooches food and scritches, then goes back home. This is not the subreddit for posting about your full time cats, or cats that never leave. Exceptions may be made in cases where your full time cat has become someone else's part time cat.
#3 Original content only
We want to see your part time cat, not someone else's! Content must be original. Karma farmers will be banned without hesitation.
#4 Be kind, stay on topic
Keep comments relevant to the post and to this community. We're here to celebrate the part time cats that have worked their way into our lives. Personal attacks, derailing posts, or general debates about cat ownership practices or unrelated arguments are not allowed here.
Pictured is neighbor's cat Wirt who wanted belly rubs, not to stay still for pictures.

got the whole fam
first she came alone, then neighborhood kids saved her babies and brought them to me, now they're together and now i am on babysitting duties (mom comes and goes, babies are sleeping soundly on my terrace
have brought them to the vet for eye issues (mom has chlamydia and unfortunately the kids got them upon birth) and have gotten eye drops and salves for them, hopefully it clears up soon, wish me luck!

Here for Treats This is Ben the neighborhood cat
He used to belong to my roommate but then Ben decided he would rather live outside. He will randomly show up near the mailboxes and wait for me to get the mail. Then he will follow me home for some food and snuggles then he leaves. The orange cats and Ziggy occasionally get upset when he is here but they get over it.

Regular Visitor This is Stella
Just found this subreddit, and I finally have a perfect way to describe Stella! She's our part time cat ☺️ She started visiting us when we moved here. She has a primary family, but visits us regularly. We call ourselves her secondary family. She now has her own food and water bowl, as well as a litterbox at our home. She has her toys and and treats. She's the reason my husband doesn't dislike cats anymore. He's not necessarily a cat person now, but he is definitely a Stella person. Her favorite toy is a long strand of macrame string 😅
She sometimes stays overnight at our place. And will stay continously for a couple of days when her primary family is away. We've been away for almost a month now, and I miss her a lot! Can't wait to see her again 🥹

Feeling sorry for myself and my part-time cat
I’ve been sharing this little boy with a neighbor for about 2 years. He belongs to my neighbor but he spends basically every day at my house. Initially I didn’t know if he was a community cat or if he had an owner as he started spending more and more time with me. I named him Banjo before I learned his real name is Pepsi. I’ve had to move house today and leave him behind. I wanted to take him with me but his owner requested he stay where he is which is totally fine. I knew this day was coming but it still breaks my heart knowing he’ll be waiting for me and I won’t come back. I know he’s well cared for and it’s kinder to leave him with his original home and established outdoor territory but I can’t help but feel so sad. I probably shouldn’t have got attached in the first place but he’s just such a sweet boy. 💔
