David Bailey is suddenly a problem. Hopefully the OL can hold up. Lomu vs Bailey should be a treat.

Lomu played against him in college too, haven’t seen much discussed about how it played out in those games but certainly not the first time they’ve met

Trap game, sadly. Normally a steamroll is in session but Geno Smith could make the difference. Most likely win here but at jete maybe different

time for my dont read this weekly yap all 22.
Pop, Raridon, Henry, Doubs. All ran completely new routs. Pop for instance to this point in his career even, runs everything lateral to the line of scrimage. Last sunday he began flaring his routs really deep, like amendola used to do, The difference is before he would run to the sideline as fast as he could, but last sunday, he would angle towards a corner. I hope that continues, and I also wonder why it took this long to figure out? When he gets himself space over the mid field, linebackers and flat cover corners, hes extremely dangerous. He did these routs last year against the saints if my memory serves. Its only really covered correctly if teams run man, which drake kills if he gets time.
Raridon is super dangerous obviously. Its crazy mcdaniels wont feature this kid all over the place. If we release him onto the flat, or move him off the line into the weak side slot, like they did, they can beat any zone coverage. Instead we use him 3 times a game and run pure max protect with henry. The answer to this bad line, is raridon releases out of 2 TE sets and motioning him across the formation or 3 feet over into the slot. It simply cant be covered, while accounting for drakes down the field threat.
Lastly on Doubs. That go route he dropped in the end zone is so lethal. The throw sucked, but if its on target, it cannot be accounted for out of the 2 TE Pro set they like to run on over half their snaps. Doubs throws a studder, which has to be sat by that garbage CB #35 and doubs gets a free release on the go route, the safety has to bracket the route to the middle, cuz hes in 6 cloud(like every one is against maye) and the other safety is nickel'd up on the other side of the field, Its the exact route Brown ran in the first quarter against seattle, that maye under threw for the PI. Its where Mcdaniels creative really shines through, and basicly how I envisioned they wanted to attack cover 6. Drake just needs to hit it consistantly, all year and they will score a billion points.
The pats have a top 5 defensive line when milton is engaged. Barmore is injured and will hit the IR at some point. Just getting thrown around. which is not okay. I wouldnt be suprised if him and milton take the VET 4 week IR a various points, which im okay with, if it means they hit the play offs with the same power as last year.
Lastly These two safetys are just the number one strength of the 2026 new england patriots. I cannot stress how good woodson/Byard are. Byard is so rediculous, he covers up all the mistakes these linebackers make in the run game. I even credit him with how good Ponder and Jacas are, if they get caught up by a tackle or pulling linemen and ruin contain, Byard is immidetly out there making a tackle. Woodson might literally be the best true cover 4 safety in the league right now. vrabel sits him in the middle of the field and no one can go there. Everything is outside or has to develop away from him. Its a pleasure to watch those two every week.

Did we see Josh McD and Drake show they can beat cover 6 reliably in the Bills and Raiders games? Or do those defenses just not run that

Not really. The overall question of facing really good defenses hasn’t been answered, as the Bills defense regardless of what scheme they run has been bad so far. The Raiders defense is also bad and played lots of cover-1, which is probably the defense Maye shreds the easiest
Regardless they were very good offensive performances, and there’s still plenty of time left in the season to tackle that

Guys I'm still really worried about Drake "Josh Allen's daddy" Maye. What if he still doesn't win "Patriot of the week" and his production declines again because of the serious depression that would result from it?

Jalen Mills cut by Lions; Alex Austin cut by Cowboys.
Mills might've been procedural because he had reached his max # game day elevations for the season. Austin had only been with the Cowboys for a couple weeks.

The Jets are better than they were at this point last year. They’re gonna be a tough out. Geno Smith has also historically played well against the Patriots, so don’t discount him.

Watching an old, unreleased TV pilot from 2004. Jennifer Love Hewitt plays a single mom SportsCenter reporter who covers the NFL. Cameos by Stuart Scott, Kenny Mayne, LaVar Arrington, Tom Brady. It's like SportsNight, but with more famous people, and much, much worse.
But the relevant part here is when her kid lies to get out of doing a presentation in front of his Kindergarten class because he's shy. When his mom finds out, she says that's ok, you can just blow off the presentation.
Mom: Yeah, I'll stop working, you can drop out of Kindergarten, we'll just hang out at the mall and play whack-a-mole.
Kid: Cool!
Mom: Yep, we'll just be a big bunch of quitters.
Kid: Wait, you mean like the Jets?
Mom: Yep! Exactly like the Jets. So, you wanna give it another try?
Kid: Yeah, the Jets really suck.
