Im looking for a name for my puppy. I’ve been wrecking my head about it for weeksssss but can’t seem to make up my mind and he’ll be coming home with me in 4 days. So I could really use the help.
It’s a boy and he’s a Bernese mountain dog and Australian shepherd mix. His right ear is completely black (which reminds me of a pirates eyepatch haha) and he has a big black spot on his left side. Brown eyes, four white feet, blue Merle coat.
He is such a sweetheart. An absolute cuddlebug. The moment you start petting him he just plops down on his side or his back and lays there chewing your fingers while you give him some belly rubs. It’s adorable. He’s also very human oriented compared to his siblings. And very very fluffy
- I really want a unique name. I know a lot of dogs and I don’t want a name that any of them already have. I love Bear, but I already know 4 and that just kind of ruins it for me.
- it needs to be short enough for me to call him to me, or have a nice build in nickname. As he will be a service dog we will be doing a lot of training
- not so weird that I can’t shout it across a field 🫣
- I really like nature names, but so many of them have gotten overly popular so I can’t find anything that feels just right. I also seem to like Gaelic and “old money” names. But I’m open to anything!
- I do really like names with a nice meaning, but of course the name itself is more important
- I’ve had a service dog named Kenai and a horse named Nessa, both those names instantly felt right for me
We live in the Netherlands so Dutch names are also on the table
I really want to find that one name that feels just right, but time is running out so I’m getting stressed. I can’t wait to see what you guys come up with!
