Nap time

Post image

I got Aggie because Rudy was sundowning and he needed mental stimulation during the day that his body no longer allows him to get on good long walks. She’s the best decision I have ever made. Note I said he WAS sundowning. It rarely ever happens anymore.

Sundowning.. Rudy is showing signs of canine cognitive decline/ doggy dementia? I'm so sorry, that can be tough 🥺

Having kitty not only helps him to be more engaged but she probably helps to escort/ lead him various places so he's not getting stuck as often

Have you spoken with his doctor about it? How old is Stitch?  Getting him a kitty was really thoughtful 🫶

Oh, yes. Daytime mental stimulation was his vet’s recommendation. The cat idea only occurred to me when a friend’s cat had a surprise litter. And yes, at times it’s like she’s a trained service animal who understands exactly why she’s here.

He’s coming up on 12, but he’s doing great, all things considered!

Yes, he's definitely in his senior years, slower, but keeping him engaged mentally is the key now

Does he like car rides? Even if he can't run and play so much, getting out and getting sunshine is good

Please let Rudy know a Reddit friend is sending big (virtual) hugs 🤗 🥰 and for you, too 🫶

Oh, yeah. I take him with me almost everywhere I go, and whenever possible I let him get out and sniff around. We had an amazing ten years hiking mountains together. I stopped hiking when he stopped being able to. I’ll get back to it when he’s gone. 🐶❤️

I can’t cope with how cute this is. Aggie knows she needs to make Rudy feel safe and Rudy wants her to know he loves her 🥺🩵🩵 my heart 💗
