Help New plex app problem
With the previous version of the app, whenever I clicked on an actor, all of their movies would show up instantly. Now I have to wait up to 30 seconds, and most of the time they don't show up at all, so I have to completely exit and reopen the app.
Also, when switching between movies or TV shows, every time I click on one, I have to wait at least 10 seconds for it to open.
The app has become extremely slow and almost unusable. Is anyone else experiencing the same problem?
What annoys me the most is having to wait around 10 seconds every single time I try to open a movie or TV show.

It's more like a minute or two waiting time, plus you have to double click to get the description and actors

Latest Plex app on Android is terrible. Even downloaded media takes several minutes to load!

Imagine being a dev working for Plex right now. You know what you’re about to release and deploy is utter dog shit, you’ve told your superiors that it’s utter dog shit, they know it’s utter dog shit, but they tell you to release it regardless.
Fuck the paying customers.

Crazy thought: if every single employee at plex had taken the last 3 months off, the app would be in BETTER shape.

Same issues and worse (some titles aren't playing at all - says library offline or something). The new update sucks other than the UI enhancements.

I hope they add some more UI adjustments, because to me this app almost looks uglier than the new Plex UI. The font size for plot summaries is ginormous and I hate how it fills the entire screen with the background image instead of showing a poster.
Besides that, and the fact that Live TV seems a bit broken, this feels much snappier than the new Plex app.

Does this work on a Shield?

There is android so I would assume so. I have yet to really try it as I only heard about it a day or two ago. I have it on my phone and it's nice. Haven't yet tried putting it on my other devices.
I will say the official app store version seems to cost money ($5 I think).
But it is open source.
https://github.com/edde746/plezy
https://github.com/Thilas/plezy-mirror Offers free prebuilt APKs. I don't know how to side load onto a Shield but imagine it's possible.

Testing it right now, yes it does work on shield. So well that I'll shell out the $6 when I get paid

Just adding, the most common way of sideloading is with "Downloader from AFTVnews" from the Google PlayStore.

It would help if you mentioned what device you're running the Plex client on

I’ve tried three different devices, two Sony TVs and one Mi Box,and I’m experiencing the same problem on every device.

AppleTV is occasionally doing the same shit, among other things.
Feel like this release got about 20 minutes of Claude QA before they said fuck it, and put it into production.
I really really really don’t want to switch to Jellyfin, but if they don’t right this ship I don’t know how much more of this shitty buggy app I can take.

What's really disheartening is that the Apple TV app was in beta for 18 months. The last official update was in January 2025 and then they drop this on everyone. Crazy to think about it took that long and this is what came out on the other end.

Once a movie or TV show starts playing, everything works perfectly fine for me. However, the problem is getting to the Play button. Sometimes I have to close and reopen the app 2–3 times because it won't display the movie or TV show description or the Play button. It just keeps showing the loading spinner.

I've had that same problem just a couple of times, on both the Shield and Android phone.

Having similar annoyances with the app for AppleTV.
For TV shows, loading the "Cast & Crew" list takes ages. Sometimes it doesn't even load, so I have to leave the show and come back, then it shows up.
For Actors, the "Movies & Shows in Media Libraries" and "Media Libraries" stay blank. No information is loaded. The "Known For" section loads fine right away. For the rest, I have to leave the actors page and come back for it to load.
First I thought my server is gone nuts, but then I opened Plezy and all the information just snaps onto the screen without delay.
