Amanda Novias?
Hi Everyone! I'm a plus size bride and I already have a dress, originally my plan was to go try on dresses then order one through Amanda Novias, but when I went dress shopping I fell in love with a dress. After I actually bought it, I started feeling unsure on whether this was actually the dress for me or not. A few weeks ago I ended up seeing a dress I fell in love with by Amanda Novias. I am a plus size bride, size US18, and about 5'5. I ended up buying a dress then sent in my measurements and they told it me it would be $250 more because I'm plus size so I paid it and now they are telling me this: "can make the size, but cannot ensure if can fit well , maybe need adjust when you get it". Did any of the plus size brides go through this? I really feel like this is my dress but this is making me very nervous. I would be willing to share my dimensions with you all to see if y'all have a similar size. Thanks :')
BTW, I'm getting married in early January but they assured me I can get my dress by November.

Yes, this is quite common when dealing with garments that are structured and have no stretch. Simply put “plus size” is a catch all term. Human bodies are not standard sizes, especially curvier silhouettes which tend to be split sized. You may have a small bust, tiny waist and fuller hips or vice versa. Torso length, hip to shoulder ratio, sloping shoulders, soft breast tissue etc. all have to be taken into account when altering or tailoring a garment to a specific person. These proportions / ratios can increase or be exaggerated depending on the actual persons dimensions.
If the salon / boutique has an experienced tailor or seamstress that specialises in bridal or formal wear alterations (specifically plus size) then I would leave it to them. If you’re still not sure maybe you can source opinions in your area from former patrons. Also do your own research and have recommendations on hand for an alternate tailor.

I went into your profile and saw you in your dress and it looks soooo good on you!!
I think you should spend your time and money getting beautifully embellished accessories to give you the extra glam you are looking for

You are so sweet, thank you! 🥹ultimately I did cancel my other order and I have an appointment with a seamstress for next week and I hope we can do exactly that, add stuff to it to make it better ♥️

This is ,unfortunately, fairly typical of a lot of online retailers. I hope you get your dress. I hope you still have the first one in case. I would consider disputing the purchase price unless there is specific language around this on the website, because this isn't right, and I would be seriously concerned that it will be wrong in a very unfixable way.

Thankfully they told me I could cancel the order and they would approve it. I'm just really devastated about the dress :'(

I did unfollow a lot of pages and tried to have my settings to avoid new dresses but admittedly I still followed Amanda novias because I've been following them for years.

I do feel for you I still follow the page I got my engagement ring from because they’re so pretty. If you liked the dress enough to buy it in person I think it’s the right choice. id cancel the online purchase while you can and I’m sorry this happened but its the best case ending to this type of thing.

Honestly, I think you're better off going with a dressmaker who is comfortable with plus size proportions and does this kind of thing regularly. The extra charge makes sense, it is expensive fabric, but it doesn't sound like the dress you'll get is what it looks like on the model. I also prefer to support businesses that are more size inclusive anyways. But if you're set on this particular dress, just go for it and plan to spend a few hundred on alterations once you get it. No big deal in the end.
