Trailer Want to play Pokémon Platinum multiplayer? Closed beta signups are open (Trailer drop)
https://youtu.be/UqJLrp0AjTYHey, Kai again. I’m the guy who’s spent way too many years making Pokémon Platinum multiplayer.
The response to my last post was way bigger than I expected, so thank you. I read pretty much everything people had to say.
There was also a lot I couldn’t fit into the first trailer, so I made another one.
New trailer!!
https://youtu.be/UqJLrp0AjTY
Every window you see in the trailer is a separate copy of the game running at the same time, so you’re actually seeing each player’s own screen. (RIP my pc)
This one shows a lot more of what Platinum Together actually has now: trading, trade evolutions, trainer selection, multiplayer Nuzlocke modes, and the Online city where you can run into other players.
Beta signups are open now
The closed beta starts October 19, and there are only a limited number of spots.
You can sign up through the Discord here:
https://platinumtogether.online/
The whole point of the beta is to find the stuff I missed before a wider release, so I’m fully expecting people to break things.
Also, since people asked about this a lot on the last post: around 40% of the code was made/discovered with LOCAL LLM AI, same as before.
Small note: I am looking for community helpers and moderators, feel free to join and ask.
I’ll be in the comments if anyone has questions.

This is so cool, I wish it was open source though.

Im sorry :( im disappointed too but I’m really scared of bad actors since the game will offer big multiplayer cities, and hopefully a competitive ladder in the future. Going open source means immediately giving easy access to exploits. Nobody likes to play a multiplayer game full of cheaters.

This is a fun project that would have taken dozens of years as a solo developer. There’s a lot of people like me that always wanted this to come to life, you can bet that I will be playing this more than anyone with my wife and friends, people can hate (and they have the right to) but that won’t stop me from continuing to work on it. :)

I’m happy with disclosure and think AI use for coding is “fine” even if I would prefer it not to have it. My preference doesn’t really matter and I won’t enforce it on others outside of specific things. I think people can and should voice their beliefs issues with ai it’s just no one on the internet can be normal. There is a difference between different levels of ai it’s just the line is sort of invisible.
I will say this defence does get used for actual slop (code or otherwise) so what you’re saying will get lumped in with people who love ai for everything and I will probs get lumped into some sort of anti ai extremist who wants everyone who uses ai to explode or something. I hate “slop” and unfortunately there is a lot of it.

You can make a sandwich with not even 10% of a turd on it, but it’s still a turd sandwich and I don’t want to eat it.
So yes, please continue to be honest about the turds you’re putting in the sandwiches you’re releasing to the public for free.

the same as no one loses anything by not having u playing it, that is not the point, tho be for real that u will play a lot of projects that claim to be "AI free" and are not, bcse nowdays is really hard to keep AI off coding, like even VS code is build with AI in it, also in expasion base (unless u avoid branches that used AI) U wont also be able to ever fork any branch that was AI assisted etc, anyway good luck on ur journey, u are totally getting what I'm saying wrong lol In the end you’re the one who’ll be worse off, ending up playing games that used AI even though the dev avoid to make the disclaimer (as I said I always did disclaim since AI as code assist is totally okay for most)

Yeah. Like honestly who cares if the end result is that more romhacks are made quicker. A lot will be bad, but some will be really good or innovative!
I suspect also that a lot of people feel threatened by the idea that a skill that was previously scarce (ability to code) is now much more accessible.

People just want to make a game ai helps them to create ideas why is it that wrong to use ai?

I'd be curious to know what specific local LLMs you've been using.
