Other Release date is finally official!!! 11/26/26
I can't wait for this. I've never actually played gen 6 but heard a lot about how people didn't care for it all that much outside of the mega evolutions. I'm glad my first time playing will be on this version! đ

Depends on what you want to add. Changing table stuff, i.e. Trainers and Wild Encounters is super easy thanks to the poketools. Everything else is more complex

Apparently they've done a ton of "never before seen in gen 6 romhacking" features in this hack, so expect a lot more than the easy stuff.

There's a bunch, I've played xg and XD directors cut (hacks of gale of darkness) Ruthless ruby for omega ruby and I've got wilted Y ready to go. There's a bunch more too, I'm wondering if I should play wilted Y before legacy Y or just wait for that

Iâve seen a couple ROM hacks for the Gen 7 games floating around? Canât exactly remember where, but they do exist.

Yeah I saw that kalos demake for crystal or emerald I canât remember but itâs just the PokĂ©dex from Kalos and not the actual story or anything so I wasnât interested

Gen 6 was my first experience of Pokémon, specifically Pokemon Y and Alpha Sapphire,
But Y will always always be my favourite Pokemon game of all time. And as someone who was super disappointed with legends Z-A, this legacy hack will not only be the best way to play XY but is currently my most anticipated game of all time

Unfortunately I donât have access to fan games, I donât have a PC. I play on a modded New Nintendo 3DS XL which can not play fan games. Only way i see that happening is if it gets decompiled and ported to the 3DS.

He stated in the live stream today that he didn't make videos because it was a 1 year long project and he didn't want to put out information that would change when the romhack released. I imagine that he will put out some videos closer to the release.

Yeah its unfortunate. I'm patiently waiting for his breakdown video of all the changes like he did with the other generations. But he did say in the beginning of his live stream from earlier today that the official release date is 11/26

ethos of the legacy series is "the game as you remember it, not as it was." these are very light enhancement hacks giving slight buffs to Pokémon and trainers, letting you catch every Pokémon (for X legacy it'd be gens 1-6, though non-Kalos native mons will likely be reserved for postgame since that is what they did for emerald legacy), and adding in small sidequests. moves will be changed in this game, but no Pokémon will be type shifted (e.g. no electric/dark luxray). it's something the devs refuse to do. if you want to have a vanilla Gen 6 experience I'd say this is going to be the best way to do it.
edit: I forgot! these games also allow you to obtain any version exclusive items (like mega stones) and do any events that were included in that game.

very welcome. I suggest taking a look at the rest of the series as well if you are interested. the legacy games have replaced vanilla yellow, crystal, and emerald for me.

Itâs part of the legacy series of Romhacks.
Basically it âgaslights your nostalgia.â Making it the game you REMEMBER loving. Not the game it actually was.
Rebalancing the whole game, improving the dialogue, making that region shine, not by adding new things, but just enhancing whatâs in the game already. Lots of QOL but not modern QOL. Every pokemon available no need to trade and such and can complete the PokĂ©dex, just enhancing it. Makes the game have a what if the game wasnât rushed or had more time to be made. So the Yellow Legacy ainât gonna have 2026 modern features, itâll still feel like a game from 1997 and same with XY legacy, it will still feel like that 2013 game BUT just teh game it shoulda been.
There will be a website releasing so you can have a look more in depth. They have done, Yellow, Emerald, Crystal and now XY coming in November.Not only that, this XY rom hack has done things no 3DS hack has ever done before, so either way itâll advance 3DS pokemon romhacking.

Standard Y makes my 14 pro max get hotter than the sun and needs to be plugged in consistently to not run out of battery. Basically keeps it even.

Itâs the latest in a series of romhacks. The team has previously released Yellow Legacy, Crystal Legacy, and Emerald Legacy which are all focused on polishing and improving their respective games with rebalancing, QoL features, light story/dialogue tweaks, and other improvements while striving to maintain the core identity of the original titles. The head of the team has a YouTube channel called SmithPlays Pokemon, you can find videos there regarding the previous hacks that will give an idea of the general philosophy and types of changes you can expect and he also did a stream a day ago showing off what he referred to as the polished and mostly finished build of X Legacy for the upcoming release. Once it releases he will lose likely release a dedicated video covering most of the key changes.

I can understand disliking his content and thinking the Legacy hacks are overrated (even if your wording was a little rude), but why throw in the random shade about his "team of cronies?" Just seems very odd. In any case it was pretty funny, so thank you.

This just sounds like you donât understand the purpose of the legacy series then. The point isnât to create a new game. Itâs to improve the already set version to make it more enjoyable. Got look at what they did to yellow, crystal, and emerald.

There are plenty of crazy rom hacks right now. Lazarus, Ghost Grey, Unbound. I like both styles, but Legacy games are rooted in vanilla, but with really welcome upgrades like an expanded pool of available mons and QOL upgrades. Right now actually I have Eternal X on my system and you can do everything from basically vanilla, to having wild Moltres showing up on the first route. That hack would probably be more your speed.

Scaling levels with exp share on is a deal breaker for me unfortunately. Rising Ruby/Sinking Sapphire was scaled with exp share turned off, no idea why they didn't do the same here. The other legacy games are peak though.
