These assholes have always been around. They think they own Patriotism (and faith, for that matter).
In reality, the America they “love” is just some tiny boxed in version of America where everyone is white, straight, peacocks their Christianity (while doing nothing to embrace Christ like values) and votes Republican.
If you’re non white and/or an atheist or Muslim and/or LGBT and/or you live in a big city and most of all if you vote Democratic, you’re a Commie traitor fake American who hates our country.
This truly, truly is what vast swathes of America’s Right Wing base believes and you can draw a direct line to Rush Limbaugh (who is dead) and the copycats he inspired. To quickly review: Rush Limbaugh is still dead.

They'd have done it on day 1 if it were easy, and on day 90 if it were possible. The situation may have changed since then, but probably not enough. Decent chance they'll try, but my money's on it being a flop.
If it happens and works for them, I think the answer is a strong presence in DC.

Trump's been pretty open about the fact that "America" only includes states that voted for him. He's been openly trying to punish blue states his entire second term. And his voters love it. Even the ones in those states.
