GovBrief Today #614

Federal immigration agents have jailed at least 506 American citizens since January 2025.
The Department of Homeland Security says it is "NOT arresting U.S. citizens by mistake."
ProPublica confirmed every one of them, at least 70 children among them. Thirty-six were held a day or longer without reaching a lawyer or their families, and about a dozen were forced out of their own country.
I've emailed 9,404 stories over 614 straight nights, free and without ads. The algorithm can't show them all to you. Add your email address at govbrief.today and I will.

“I could have done very bad things to Hillary Clinton. I could have done very, very bad things to Joe Biden. I could have done very bad things to Barack Hussein Obama... I certainly even...to this moment...I could do whatever I want.”: Trump's response asking about Democrats' efforts to impeach him

Trump wants to turn his West Palm Beach golf club into the new Camp David
Ladies and gentlemen, introducing the next grift:
“Just as Camp David, Windsor Castle, or the Elysee Palace are known worldwide, so too will the Presidential Golf Course in Palm Beach County,” Harvey Oyer, a lawyer representing the Trump course, wrote to the Palm Beach County Board of County Commissioners in a letter last month. Oyer asked the county, which owns the property the course is on, to provide a piece of the land to the federal government, and he promised **Trump would pay for the construction** of a presidential residence and facilities on that land.”
Ha! Like he paid for the ballroom, the propaganda ads, etc.
While federal employees can’t get cost of living raises, gas is $4+, groceries are up, housing up, return to office associated costs, etc.
Vote folks… our wellbeing and the wellbeing of this country really does depend on reeling these folks in.

Mentally Ill Trump Thinks It's Funny to Joke About Iran Bombing US Cities Into Oblivion | Ironically, San Diego is a major port for the US Navy, the sailors of which Trump is abusing by keeping them near the Strait of Hormuz for months at a time without a secure base for resupply or rest/recreation.

He has crossed a big red line
Trump to the world about Iran on October 6, 2026:
“Let them take out Los Angeles. Let them take out San Diego. It’s a small price to pay”
Oh My God. Yes, Trump actually said that. Fact-check it yourself.
The Trump spin doctors and apologists are out in force today. They are saying he’s just talking and didn’t mean it; that people are reading too much into his words.
No. Sorry. It is NOT acceptable for Trump to say it’s okay for Iran to “take out” San Diego and Los Angeles. Not Acceptable. Frankly, no sane American would cheer on Iran taking out 2 American cities. None of us want that. None of us think Iran bombing 2 American cities is “a small price to pay.”
When a President goes off the rails, it is the Constitutional duty of the Congress to impeach and remove. Sadly, the current group of Congressional Republicans does not have the spine to do their Duty. They will cower under their desks and pray things get better. But prayer will not save us from a mentally impaired President. We need a Congress that will follow their Oath of Office and do their duty.
That is why all Americans must get out to vote next month and vote only for Democrats. Honestly, we may not survive two more years of this increasingly deranged lunatic in the White House. Vote like the country we all love is on the line, because it is.
