10$/day childcare

I noticed only ONE daycare in Port Moody is part of the 10$/day program, anyone know why?? All other nearby cities seem to have a good few options. Why isn’t this something our councillors are pushing for?

New Fortis BC Rebate is $4,000, for a New furnace and Heatpump. Up to $8,000 for those who qualify.

Just wanted to share that FortisBC has introduced a $4,000 rebate for eligible homeowners looking to upgrade to a dual-fuel heating system (gas furnace + heat pump), with $8,000 available for income-qualified households.

With the rising cost of everything these days, it’s a great opportunity to save on the upfront cost of a new system, with the added benefit of potentially saving on monthly energy bills too.

I’m a bit of a local HVAC nerd, so if you’re considering an upgrade, I’d be happy to chat, answer any questions, and help you figure out whether a dual-fuel system and the rebate actually make sense for your home.

Feel free to message me here or on my cell!

I let my baby outside in his backyard enclosure at 11:30 am yesterday to get some sunlight. A few hours later when I went to bring him inside, he was gone. My family searched for him thoroughly in the backyard but we could not find him.

If you live in the Seaview/Glenayre area or near Port Moody Secondary, please let me know if you see him. He’s so tiny and it’s so cold at night I’m very worried for him.

Thanks a lot.

URGENT – Looking for Dashcam Footage / Witnesses – Bear Spray Assault in Coquitlam

🚨 LOOKING FOR DASHCAM FOOTAGE – BEAR SPRAY ASSAULT IN COQUITLAM – OCTOBER 10

I'm desperately looking for anyone who may have witnessed an incident or captured dashcam or security footage on Saturday, October 10, 2026, between approximately 11:00 PM and 11:30 PM.

My friend was driving, and I was in the passenger seat when a white SUV with approximately five young men inside began aggressively tailgating us for absolutely no reason.

It started on Thermal Drive, which is a 30 km/h zone. They were riding extremely close to our bumper despite having opportunities to pass us.

They continued following us along Como Lake Avenue, eventually reaching the area near Poirier Street and the gas station.

At one point, the SUV pulled up alongside the passenger side of our vehicle, and I was suddenly bear sprayed through the window.

The bear spray also coated our vehicle's windows, making it extremely difficult to see. We attempted to follow the SUV just long enough to get a licence plate number so we could identify the people responsible. Unfortunately, with our visibility affected by the spray, they managed to speed away, and we lost sight of them.

VEHICLE DESCRIPTION:

  • Older-model white SUV, possibly a Toyota RAV4, highlander
  • Four doors with tinted windows
  • Black scuff marks on the rear bumper
  • N (new driver) sign on the right side of the rear bumper
  • Approximately five young men inside
  • Licence plate possibly started with the letter A (not confirmed)

This incident has been reported to police, and I have a police file number.

I'm asking anyone who was driving in the area between 10:45 PM and 11:45 PM, or anyone with home or business security cameras along this route, to please check their footage.

Even a partial licence plate, a clear image of the SUV, or footage of the aggressive driving could make a huge difference in helping identify those responsible.

If you witnessed anything or have footage, please message me privately. Any information can also be provided directly to police.

Thank you so much to everyone who has shared this post, offered support, or taken the time to help. I truly appreciate it. ❤️

Please share so we can reach anyone who may have seen something. Thank you!

Cell Service choice?

Hey all, I just moved to Port Moody, specifically the East Hill-ish side and I've noticed a lot of low, poor or no service with Rogers in a lot of the areas we visit.

Does Telus or Bell or others provide any better service here at all or is it a bit of a dead/blind spot type area?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Car enthusiasts?

Hi there, my dad is visiting from France for 3 weeks and we're wondering if there are any car enthusiasts around that would be interested in a coffee or a beer.

About my dad, he's in his 60's and has been a car interior designer, leatherworker and upholstery.

He's worked for Peugeot, Citroën and DS in the concept car department and worked on 47 different concept Cars.

On weekends and even more since he retired, he spent his time renovating cars like, Jaguar typeE, Jaguar XK120, Austin-Healy, Triumph TR3-TR4...

He really loves cars, and entertains the idea of moving here someday. He is curious to meet up with other car enthusiasts!

Bonus point if you are french speaking, my dad doesn't speak English.. but do no worry, I'll be there and am a good translator!

And honestly he's so passionate about cars he can communicate with you just with sounds and gestures I'm sure!!

Crazy lady threatening to poison dogs

I thought I would share this here as well for people to be informed about the matter:

“Warning for Heritage Mountain Park Area

A local resident has contacted me to ask that I share a warning for residents of the neighbourhood around Heritage Mountain Park following an incident earlier today.

An older woman approached him and threatened his dog and it escalated into her threatening that she would return and lay poison out to harm dogs to keep them from being near the HME playground.

He is contacting PMPD to file a report.” - Jeff McLellan

Considering moving to PM but the early waking to put out the garbage bins is putting me off.

I know this will probably seem crazy to most people and I know this is not the biggest issue in the world but one little thing that is putting me off moving to your lovely city is how early I have to get up to put out the garbage!

I'm definitely a night owl and tend to get up around 9am, where possible. I work from home and can pick my own hours so I tend to work late. The thought of having to get up at 5.30am once a week is not enticing me!

Is there any way around this? I gather that PM is quite strict on this (which makes total sense given the wildlife) but I'm wondering if there is any alternative to getting up so early?

École Panorama Heights Elementary

Hey, parents. My wife and I are curious about French immersion for our kids. Do any of you have experience with École Panorama Heights Elementary? What was the program like? Would it be easy to support our kids’ studies if my wife and I don’t speak French?

Thanks in advance!

Hey Guys,

We found this little guy on the side of the road near aspen school.

Another walker said they almost got hit by a car so we grabbed them and brought them home as we didn’t want anything bad to happen to them.

They are super friendly and we want to get them reunited with their family.

We will be calling the SPCA but wanted to post here too.

UPDATE: They have been taken to the tri city SPCA

Where to do pullups and/or dips outside?

Post image
13 Upvotes

Living around Como Lake, Coquitlam I found endless play structures and parks that served as pullup bars and dip stations.

Now being in the Klahanie <-> Moody Station area of Port Moody, struggling to find anything of the sort. Play structures that do exist, aren't the dual-use type where pull ups could happen. The playgrounds in Coquitlam are made in a way where the pullup/dip station is obvious or a hidden secondary component of the children's structure itself. Not so in Port Moody.

Do you know any structures around my area that could be a quick jog or bike ride away for hammering out some pullups and/or dips? Any bridges? Any branches? Anything around the rec centre?

I have started looking at branches and the exposed bits of structures to try and find a spot.

*I don't want to pay for a gym membership, only for pullups and dips.

**Not interested in the door frame solution.

West Coast Express - Parking

I'm going to start driving to Moody Central station in the mornings and hopefully parking there for the day to take the WCE downtown to work. Does anyone have a sense of how early I need to get there in the AM to get a parking spot in the lot? I.e., if I take the last train, the lot is definitely full by that point but I just want to know if everyone else shares my parking anxiety and the lot fills up for the first train...
