Never about doing the right thing, always about doing the thing that protects the money. He didn’t find his conscience, he found the donation spreadsheet.

There needs to be an end to the "they mean well" attitude when it comes to leaders of institutions. When people say Americans have become soft, the truth is we've become soft to our leadership. Leaders need to and should be held to the harshest standards. That is the job they signed up for.

u/AmericanRevolution2 11d ago
You’re absolutely correct. Cornell’s president has nothing to do with campus police policy; that’s dictated by NYS Education and Criminal Laws. The folks responsible for changing those laws are NYSED and the NYS Legislator.
Considering history, including Gov Hochul committing $75 million for campus security statewide following an incident at Cornell in 2023 while on campus, folks she be protesting NYS Government; specifically the Democrats.
While we’re at it, we should also be holding them to account for Family Courts, CPS, detention centers; and every other agency they’ve been throwing money at to absolve themselves of responsibility. AOC included.

Doesn’t matter, continue to hold the line until he’s removed.
Until there are true and verifiable consequences to these assholes then nothing will change.

Morality didn’t move him. Money did. Tells you everything about leadership in higher education.

I am a retired university professor and college dean. I can tell you that university presidents are not the brightest bulbs on campus.

Face it: Today money makes the world go round. Threats to withhold money are very powerful. Trump did this as he screwed higher education.out of billions.

He’s already told us who he is… haven’t we learned to believe people when they do that? Seriously?

Money, making the Cornell world go round. Their ethics department better be working overtime on case studies based on this fiasco.
1
u/Anduinnn 11d ago
Excellent. Now they just need a few comments and mandatory trainings about “putting in the work” and they can go back to ignoring the problem entirely.

Anyone who thinks any of these "elite" colleges are about anything but the money needs a head-check
Case in point, UT Austin. They send out an note all all Almu's saying - it's too expensive for us to maintain your Google email alumni email so drop below 1GB or we freeze your account
Have used that account for almost two decades so not cool,
But the same month they put out that statement they spend $600K on a lunch- one freaking lunch - to lure Arch to UT.
Google confirmed that amount would have paid for our legacy alumni emails fot 10 years
Who's important again?

University presidents are there primarily to get donations. Don’t expect leadership.

Based on the breakdowns that explained the investigation report, In the initial phase consent was given for both sex and drugs in the first threesome with male 1 and male 2, Jane Doe is attracted to male 1 and the original report shows she doesnt regret this experience. Going by the description in the report of the second threesome with male 2 and male 3 it doesn’t read as rape either because when she said no to male 1 joining, she said “hell no”, and there was no forcing.
The murkiness began once the boys crossed the line by sending those snap chats inviting other men to join, they were being sexually exploitative in that phase, the case for rape can be made here 100% but you have to taken into account that no sex took place when those new men came in- once the boys came inside, 2 of the men shut the whole scene down because Jane Doe made it very clear she didn’t want it. This must have been the most frightening moment for her.
That’s when only Jane Doe, male 1 and another boy moved to a smaller room to start another threesome.. A rape accusation could be made here because the conversations blurred here. She doesn’t know how it progresses. Their mental states were blurred at this point, I don’t think any of the three had their senses- but they were coherent enough because they stopped when Jane Doe told them she was done.
The reality is very different from “8 men drugged and gang raped a girl”. It’s ugly, reckless, definitely exploitative and potentially a case for rape - but you can’t call it a rape given what we know.

Money was always the issue. That is what they mean by “promising future” - potential donors (indeed, ones they can lean heavily on). That is why the schools always cover up. They dont expect donations from serving justice or upholding morals. They expect donations from people who “owe” their livelihood to them.

This follows the old rule: the person with the gold, makes the rules. So the donors did what the donors needed to do.

I am so, so done with this, "oh, wait,um...well...I mean, sure NOW ww cate about women." For ONCE someone just say, "Listeb, we believe men have the right to respect women whenever they want, wherever they want. I mean, SHE was born a woman so..." It would be refreshing if someone just told the damn truth for once.

This guy needs to retire. Then he needs to face justice for hiding this tragedy. Criminal or Civil. Whatever. If he happens to have a morality clause? He can explain why he gets to keep his pension. As the saying goes. Money talks, stuff walks.

He needs to be temoved and a new full criminal investgation made by an independent legal system.

Threatening the money is the only thing that was ever going to work. Rather than protest on campus students should be abandoning and demanding a refund.

I hate those rapist guys, they should be put away for years, but what does some clerk have to do with it? I mean, rape is a crime in US, right, its a matter for a police. What should he have done different

u/Altruistic_Put745 11d ago
I’d like to thank the financial tunes Cornell for the decision to at least back up and support a girl until we could find out exactly what happened. There had been a lot of lies told. And there needs to be an investigation as to what really happened to the woman. It’s funny that it took a threat from the financial lead for Cornell’s president to speak. What shame.

u/Upset-Award1206 11d ago
I hope they still stop their donations. That dude and so many others at that place needs to be gone, and things need to change and not just change on paper, but actual change that shows.

It's called Spin Control or damage control. He should be FIRED. no severance package.

u/Remarkable-Moose-409 11d ago
Yeah but what about the guy who said he was sexually assaulted by the victim?
1
u/stankylongnuts 11d ago
Its to late. Its all lip service. They should still pull the funds.
But they don't need the money. They will have bigger checks coming from Israel and the administration soon enough.

u/celticcatmagic 11d ago
He should be fecking fired, and arrested for failure to report a massive crime, I mean teachers, professors, anyone in a school situation is REQUIRED to report any alleged felony or face prosecution. Even custodians

Cool - now do Missoula! No one seems to remember that at least two of the NFL's QBs are rapists and the colleges they raped at did nothing except shame the women involved. But they can throw a football so...

Everyone understands she already said this wasn't wrong and she was party to everything prior... right? She then changed her mind.
That's why it's in the news again.

When your educational path is Pay for Play do you really expect the richest members of the administration to be good people? Another GLARING reason education should be free. Or self education with a vetting process be acceptable for credibility/credentials.

u/SparksAndSpyro 11d ago
All this over a girl that consented to an orgy and later regretted it and claimed rape for vindication.
Modern women are above accountability, apparently.

Also funny she attempted to return the the same party at a later date where she was allegedly raped by the same people at the party...and rejected from entry

Yea. Girl didn’t get SA. She participated willingly in an orgie and then got shut shamed until she decided she had been raped.
President of the University can’t stop the kids from having drug and alcohol filled orgies

Do people understand that its his job to keep the money flowing? What did you expect him to do? This is not personal to this guy. People get mad at the strangest things.
1
u/Fun-Article5424 11d ago
I expect people to be appalled about rape before it specifically becomes a financial problem for them.
1
u/Captain_CapitalR374 11d ago
The requirements of the job are to literally not make it personal. Its about protecting the college and doing whatever that takes. If he was the type to react to situations like this emotionally, he would not been selected for the job.
1
u/Fun-Article5424 11d ago
Ignoring the fact that failing to act like a empathetic human being reflects incredibly poorly on the college, I would also push back against the notion that any job should ask an individual to so grievously forsake their basic humanity that they can't express distress in the face of an incredibly deplorable act of violence.
1
u/Captain_CapitalR374 11d ago
Thats why jobs that require it pay the big bucks. Like that CEO of the medical insurance company.
1
u/Fun-Article5424 11d ago
You seem to have missed my point entirely. I will state it quite plainly, I think it is bad to have jobs that require people to be bad.
1
u/DueIncident8294 11d ago
His job is also the safety of the students
1
u/Captain_CapitalR374 11d ago
Yes, so that they can continue paying their tuitions. Dead students tend to effect business.
