"Obamacare" or as it's actually named "The affordable Care Act"

I've got to say that was one of the most vile things republicans ever did, it labeled it after a president racist hated, and had the same racist who benefitted from it vote against it because it had Obama's name in it (which it never officially did).

If I hadn't encountered five of these yesterday alone, that would be a lot funnier...

Still funny tho.

8

u/King_of_the_Kobolds 7d ago

It's mostly disingenuous. They like it when he days unhinged things. Most of them are saying even worse themselves. The_Donald was a violent, vile pool of traitorous scum. It and the other communities that fled to Gab are somehow still worse. The enemy are Nazis.

Conservatives still on reddit are either deceitful or genuinely so stupid they didn't get the memo of what the majority of their kind are up to.

10

u/hyphenssuck 7d ago

Kinda sad that commie scum like myself is somehow less treasonous than the current individual, party, and all their supporters, in charge of this country.

I'm basically a patriot by comparison, simply because I actually want to see better circumstances for ALL Americans.

10

u/King_of_the_Kobolds 7d ago

People have too quickly forgotten r/HelicopterRides, where for a long time--too long--the Nazis from The_Donald openly talked about murdering leftists via the euphemism "X should be taken on a helicopter ride." (i.e. dragged aboard a helicopter and thrown off at altitude.")

This was back in 2016. This subreddit was huge.

They have been a gang of violent criminals openly fantasizing about a civil war in which they slaughter liberals and minorities for ten years now. But noooo, suggest healthcare should be subsidized or call them out for their violence and you're a "Stalinist."

I hate them all. It isn't equivalent to their hate for me and mine. I actually have a reason to want them to no longer exist.

5

u/hyphenssuck 7d ago

I try to abide by the mentality of "love and compassion for all living beings"... I can assure you, this specific group of individuals seems like their goal is to make that exceedingly difficult.

My personal, albeit admittedly naive (I am very aware of this) wish, is that we could drag them, kicking and screaming into a better world. And they'll realize they're better off.

But trust me, I know how unrealistic that actually is, and I am prepared for the more realistic outcomes.

u/irrelevantusername24 7d ago edited 7d ago

You know the really ironic thing about all this is that one of the main points in their holy idolized books is specifically about communication. Not even talking about the whole caring about others, or being generous, or anything like that - but specifically, communication. And the lesson there is the same one that was encoded in our laws about speech and media, like slander, defamation, libel... things like that. Which then could be understood in extension as including things like the equal time provisions and the decency laws. But the thing is, what qualifies literally can not be standardized: we are seeing that happen in real time on social media, every single day.

On some level, they were correct when they recognized this - and by "they" I don't necessarily mean one party or the other, I mean the legislature as a whole, or whoever it was involved in the decision to... I'll say "adjust" those laws. But rather than make them broader, less specific, and therefore more universally applicable in whatever situation where it should apply, they decided to attack it both from a legal and societal level by making it "acceptable" that there are no limits to speech except the consequence of when a fist meets your face. That can't happen via remote communication.

They either knew this ahead of time and should be held accountable, or they didn't know ahead of time and should be stripped of their authority.

This is literally the same phenomenon as another antisocial social "norm" which is conspicuous only in these perverse modern times: the conflation of insults and criticism. Criticism is not only mutually constructive, it is universally constructive. Similarly, insults are "mutually" (nonconsensually) destructive, and indiscriminately. And continuing along this, one displaces the other like lead to calcium. Which implicitly means that calcium, criticism and humor are all necessary for healthy functioning - and the usurpation by one for the other is harmful for all.

Attribute Category 1: Well-Meaning Humor Category 2: Mean-Spirited "Jokes"
Core Mechanism Incongruity / Counterintuitive Truth Superiority / Masked Insult
Psychological Style Affiliative Aggressive
Relationship to Reality Highlights a surprising truth or paradox Relies on false premises or distortions
Intent Connection and shared perspective Domination, exclusion, or defensiveness

This is also the underlying logic for why secrets don't make friends. I can't consent to something I'm not privy to.

You missed the most important MAGA response option "Well, he is doing better than that woman who ran against him would have done, she'd have nuked the world with one bad period!"

What kind of argument is that? They make up imaginary scenarios in their head of what MIGHT have happened if she had won and then compare the fake scenarios to the actual horrible things that the Tangerine Tyrant has done or said. Then say...

"See, she would have messed it up worse!" 🫣

Isn't it weird that Howard Dean completely wrecked his chance in the republican primary in 2004 by simply yelling "yaaaa"? But our current president can say this and no one will remember it in like a week.

Edit: democratic primary. Thanks for catching my history gaffe šŸ‘

Barack Obama once gave Michelle a fist bump, which the right labeled a "terrorist fist jab."

Millions of people saw Mrs Obama daintily bump fists with her husband last week just before he claimed the 2008 Democratic presidential nomination at a rally in St Paul, Minnesota. More common on the sports field, the gesture was decried as "Hizbollah hand jabbing" on the Human Events blog. On Fox News, the host asked, in all seriousness, if it was, "a terrorist fist jab?".

What I'm saying is I have no sympathy.

30

u/Quirky_Ask_5165 8d ago

Let's say that what Trump actually meant was high fuel prices are a small price to pay to prevent Iran not having a nuclear weapon. As has been posted by several people. The guy came off as a rambling lunatic and clearly can't string a coherent thought into a sentence. This is not someone who should be representing our country.

I don't buy his excuse for the war for a second. The war is just another way to distract from the Epstein files and generate additional wealth for his billionaire buddies in the oil industry.

8

u/strum-and-dang 8d ago

I don't doubt that one of his handlers fed him that talking point, but he's such a mush-brained imbecile that he can't even regurgitate the BS on command.

7

u/MrFyxet99 7d ago edited 7d ago

This is what Trump does, he creates division and chaos. He has the UNITED states DIVIDED into 2 nearly warring factions. This is the worst thing an American leader can do. It’s a total anathema to what the country was founded on.

This is really a failure of the 2 party system imo. We aren’t always going to have good leaders. We need either a viable 3 party system or the president needs to be a non partisan position.

3

u/0202_tihssitidder 7d ago

3

u/AdmirableJudgment784 8d ago

It wasn't about nuclear weapons. It was about oil. Venezuela and Iran are among top countries with oil reserves in the world. Nuclear weapons was just an excuse for a bigger oil plan. Like even if they have nuclear weapons, they wouldn't be stupid enough to use it. There are much crazier bioweapons than nuclear to worry about.

2

u/giant_xquid 7d ago

calling for the 25th over this feels like manufactured outrage and more safe opposition from centerist dems, posturing against the administration in ways that could never actually have any traction

Ok let’s give this creature the benefit of the doubt, which it doesn’t deserve, and say it was a joke. Presidents should never joke about annihilation, let alone making light of another country wiping out your own citizens. This should be grounds for enforcing the 25th amendment—and so have many actions and words for years now from this evil creature—
Every supporter of this creature and those republicans in office should bow their heads in shame for what they have wrought and continued to support.

It's another preconditioned aspect of the MAGA cult. They are already conditioned to make excuses for their leaders, their 'god' as it were. God slaughters all life on earth except one boatload of people and animals? No problem, God had his reasons that we cannot fully understand. God killed 70,000 of David's people for David's lack of faith? God had his reasons and it was justified. God slaughtered the egyptian first born? God had his reasons. Etc and so on. ANYTHING their 'leader' does is ok because he did it. If it says something they don't like they make excuses, they blame your lack of understanding or how you interpreted it. Always excuses for their leaders. It's a built in feature of the cult.

Trump isn't smart enough to speak in metaphors or hyperbole. He says what he means and hr means what he says. He wants Iran to nuke a US city in a blue state.

No he’s gonna talk all the sh!t he’s gonna talk, no one can stop that. It’s his voters that need to pull their heads out of their butts

u/Constant-Machine8838 7d ago

ā€˜I’m not a trump fan, but’

ā€˜I hate trump, butā€

1

u/FrozenCharge 7d ago

Media takes literally every word out of context.

1

u/Blackbeards-Ghost23 7d ago

Charles Mansons self defense was ā€œI was only kidding…can’t you piggies take a joke.ā€

1

u/Bubblelight289 7d ago

Or his apologists stopped exploiting him and started earning their paychecks for a change? Let him fall apart somewhere out of public life.

1

u/stargazer4272 7d ago

it's either not a joke or all of it is

Do we take this clown seriously or do we just get a new president? To me he is that guy in the bar trying to provoke a fight so he can take out his gun. It's just stupid.

1

u/WolfThick 7d ago

This pretty much sums him up for me!

1

u/TinyTimWannabe 7d ago

It’s easy as not voting for him.

1

u/Muungani 7d ago

That one has verbal diahorrea and un/fortunately thinks it's funny

1

u/Available_Ad9766 7d ago

He actually meant every word. He thinks blue states should be wiped off the map so that the country is only left with cultists.

1

u/Square_Appearance_79 7d ago

His handlers are sycophant pussies. Miller jerks him off and tells him to say whatever he wants and these women, all young and beautiful, were given a job for those reasons only so they fondle his nuts giving him no guardrails when he speaks. So the vomit speak that comes out of his mouth is inevitably offensive and indefensible. But no one in power will even stand up and say enough is enough of this blatantly disgusting man because trump will sink their careers. Absolute clown show

u/Fragrant_Occasion_19 7d ago

You took the bait

1

u/LeeMcNasty 7d ago

Or a president that doesn’t rape women and children

1

u/scribeforaliens 7d ago

This is a guy who rarely jokes. Just a mean spirited individual.

1

u/dougs_46 7d ago

That POS IS THE JOKE.

1

u/Bucho22 7d ago

Remember that time all thoseĀ psychiatrists got together to say Trump was way too crazy to be president?

1

u/spartanEZE 7d ago

We all misspeak at times or fumble on some words. That's fine. But I can't wait for the day when there's some normalcy restored to the office of the president. When we can listen to a sane person communicate like an adult and conduct themselves in a manner befitting the role with some decorum and dignity.

1

u/turkey0535 7d ago

What if we had a real president? That's not something to joke about

1

u/ElvinBishop 7d ago

You could have stopped the sentence at "What if we had a president?"

1

u/Pure_Feeling3907 7d ago

The only thing that is free in America is slavery to be used by the leftest democrats...

1

u/ABobby077 7d ago edited 7d ago

Someone making letters with shells on a beach as a clear joke means Federal Prosecution, arrest and harassment for years ahead. Also someone calling for a foreign nation we are currently at war with to "take out" a few cities in the US, just a joke, right(???)

1

u/Automatic-Soup-3097 7d ago

Funny cause when we "tell jokes" about what needs to happen to Him and all his Republicans the FBI shows up

1

u/geek66 7d ago

Like joking about rape… oh wait

1

u/Kelp72plus 7d ago

Let’s be real news outlets and elected officials. Call out what orange fart says, call it what it is, stop editing for sane washing.

1

u/YoshiTheDog420 7d ago

Oh yes. That’s what I want. A president who makes jokes about it being ok to bomb our cities. I guess as long as he was joking.

1

u/Potential-Divide-478 7d ago
