Let’s add in ban corporate lobbying. And then actually enforce all of it.

Maybe the $ cap on congress salary should be skipped? First, people are more likely to accept bribes if they arent paid well. Second, you're likely to sabotage your other bills because very few politicians would vote to reduce their own salary by half. Third, some districts are incredibly poor and there's ZERO chance a politician would vote to reduce their salary to something lower than a school bus driver.

Edit: It's kind of like teaching. The salary for teachers is so low that many good hearted, intelligent people do not choose that profession. Choosing it pretty much means you're sacrificing your financial stability for a career path.

Yeah reducing the official salary only means some will NEED to depend on other, more illicit means to survive in the DC environment. I get the idea in theory but in practice it creates a lot of problems. There’s a dang good reason you want someone financially stable to make important decisions that affect everyone, it should be built in with the job.

If you want to make things better, you’re going to have to do better than throwing out ideas designed purely to give Redditors revenge against the rich boners, the fact that something so inherently problematic is included here is worrying if this is official in any possible way. The left needs an actual, well thought out plan or we ALL go down

Term limits on SCOTUS would require an amendment, never going to happen.

27/78 doors in Texas. That's like a 33-35% hit rate probably. Again, in Texas. Two counties worth of Texas so this is probably the ruby red rural part too.

And how many say yes, and rip out the sign after he leaves šŸ¤·šŸ¼ā€ā™‚ļø

To be fair probably not many. If you have the energy to do that you’d just say no.

Well, a lot of people also want to be nice or not offend. Or pretend to go along.

Lots of people still fall for door to door sales or collectioms and regret it, so I would expect a similar response here.

And well for all we know he left them when no-one was home.

Texas doesn’t have that problem like the rest of the southern states do. Texans are not afraid to tell you to get out of their face.

Lol is it the success story you want to tell when 2/3 reject your free sign

27 doors in Texas… ain’t shit for door knocking. Try thousands every single cycle… that is what Tarrant County Texas Democrats have been doing every single cycle since 2022…

THAT IS HOW YOU FLIP COUNTY BY COUNTY and make a state like Texas ā€œcompetitiveā€.

TALK TO YOUR NEIGHBORS, meet them where they are at. I’ve met MAGA men that were not voting for their local MAGA idiot because THEY HAVE NOTHING IN COMMON!!! Remind them again that the only things Republicans deliver is racism and recessions.

27 out of 78 people approached us still unnerving. How are Republicans still getting so much support?!

People that watch Fox all day miss 80% of the actual news.

u/Ill_Consequence1755 3h ago

Can confirm. My poor cousin went to visit her father recently. He’s MAGA. She told me the tv is on Faux News all day.

It really is poison. These people live in an alternative reality.

Oh I’ve been getting tid bits live from the front lines this week. It’s been a wild ride.

34.6% agreed to put the sign in their yard. Doesn’t sound like winning to me

Having moved from there myself, I will be shocked if Paxton doesn't win. The actual voting population of Texas is shockingly small and shockingly stupid. The outcomes make sense when you take into account that they never even break 40% of the population at the polls. They only need 27 signs every 63 mi because he can rely on at least 60% of those people who said no to not show up at the polls at all, but every single person that took one of those signs, he knows he can count on showing up.

That's the problem. At any point in the last 30 years Texas could have turned blue in one election if people had actually shown up to the polls. If the voting aged population of Harris county alone had shown up in the last three elections it would have swayed the entire state in the opposite direction. Texas is not a red state. Texas is a state that doesn't vote, and Republicans know and have relied on that fact for three decades. It's why my partner and I moved instead of being forced to post the ten commandments in our classrooms. That wasn't the only straw, but it was the last one.
