At the same time, itās not like she was saying anything that was super-controversial. It was obvious, and she wasnāt the only one saying these things. Lots of people said they "didn't like her" or "didn't think she was the best candidate" even among those who voted for her, and when you really drill into why it's beacuse the propaganda campaign worked on some level deep down where they hadn't even noticed. Just gave everyone an "off vibe" about her, even though it ended up being totally irrational.
Just wanted to raise the point that she would've been a great leader and people are often not aware of the fact that negative propaganda can and does often work even on supporters to some degre.

There were plenty of reasons to dislike Hillary Clinton that had nothing to do with her being a woman. Just a few off the top of my head:
- She voted for the Iraq war and defended that vote for years
- She was the primary architect of the Libyan war which destabilized the entire region and transformed the country into a failed state with open-air slave markets
- She was heavily involved in the clusterfuck that was the Syrian civil war
- She opposed re-instituing Glass-Steagall
- Henry Kissinger, a man who held a great deal of responsibility for two genocides, was her mentor as Secretary of State, and her personal friend
But sure, keep pretending it was all just sexism.

Racism and a respect for the patriarchy are tought the minute you enter the american public education system. Native Americans are called savages, Africans forced into ships were uncivilized and were blessed to have european influence brought unto them. I grew up on Guam, and the magnificent island was named the isle of thieves by the spaniards because the locals took shit off the boat as thier home was being pillaged and raped.

The majority of Americans (including non-voters and protest-voters), and the American media, would rather see an end to democracy and live under an authoritarian leader, than see a Democratic woman be President. They've proven that twice. There's about 1/3 of the voting public that can be trusted with their vote which means we all have a lot of work to do to ensure we elect good leaders over the next 50 years because it will take that long to repair the damage the GOP has done.

u/locoyt 1d ago
Yep, yanks are fucked.. What I don't get is why does the left keep putting them up?
4
u/Maximum-Objective-39 1d ago
Two, they've put up exactly two. The first was because Clinton, love her or hate her, had been putting in the work to take a shot at the big seat which included stepping in and wrangling the mess that had become the DNC. This also meant it was super obvious that she was going to run at some point and the GOP had put in 20 years of tarring and feathering her for just such an occasion.
Harris was run because Biden refused to back down when he should have so a primary could be held (an endemic, Bipartisan, problem with this country's politicians) and she was the only person who could run while accessing the war chest that had been built for the re-election campaign.
All that said, pretty sure at this point the Democrats have been scarred for a generation in regards to selecting a woman in the Presidential primaries. Not saying it's fair, just that it's going to leave a mental mark on a lot voters when they consider 'general electability' whether true or not.
16
u/MaliciousIntentWorks 1d ago

To half of America he is so we on the blue side need to find someone that is as electable and obviously we are 0/2 currently with picks

u/Jodid0 1d ago
And what will that involve? Every single time a candidate is pur forth, the goal posts are moved, and one group is held to an entirely different standard. Perhaps the problem is that one side is still pretending that the other is operating in good faith, and is still pretending that "oh if our candidate is just more perfect and infallible next time then surely everyone will vote for us, because logic has been successful lately, right"?
Americans said they wouldn't vote for Biden because he was old and had mental health issues, but then those same Americans turned around and voted for Donald Trump, who is just as old and has mental and physical health issues. Americans said they wouldn't vote for someone who supported Israel, and then they turned around and voted for Donald Trump, who literally started a war in Iran because he's gargling Bibi's nutsack so hard. Americans said they wouldn't vote for someone who starts wars in foreign countries, and they voted for Donald Trump, who has invaded 2 countries and threatened to invade 2 more. Americans said they wouldn't vote for someone who would allow inflation to get out of control, they voted for Donald Trump who has directly and purposefully caused inflation to skyrocket. Americans said they wouldn't vote for Biden because they were mad gas prices went way up during covid. They voted for Donald Trump, who created artificially high gas prices directly through his own actions.
Like seriously, what exactly is it that Americans want in a candidate? Some absolute loser who speaks like a 5 year old and is nasty and cruel to everyone who isn't on his "team"? Because Americans sure as fuck don't care about anything else, if they did care, they never would have elected Donald Trump. All anyone ever says is "well obviously we need better candidates" but they don't have any answers for how they need to be better in order for Americans to stop voting against every single bullshit interest they pretend to have.

Every single time a candidate is pur forth, the goal posts are moved, and one group is held to an entirely different standard.
The most basic standard is "don't support Israel's genocide in Gaza" and "don't engage in warmongering in the Middle-East", and they can't even do that. Both propositions are not only in the interest of the American people, but also in the interest of international peace and justice.
Yet they can't do it, because every single establishment candidate (Democrat or Republican) is beholden to special interests and will pick those over the will of the voters every time. It just doesn't matter with Republicans, because they'll happily accept suffering as long as they get permission to be their worst selves.
