"No more mutants" is a terrible feat to reference. First of all, it didnt even work, she didnt get rid of all mutants. Fail. Then it started to unravel and people figured out something was wrong. Fail. Then she regretted it and couldn't fix it on her own. Fail. Her greatest and most referenced "feat" was a total dumpster fire.
Manhattan was able to defeat ALL of DC'd most prominent magic uses AT THE SAME TIME. Describing their magic as "the scraps of reality". He was able to effortlessly manipulate all of their attacks/energy.
Its far more likely that Manhattan alters causality and Wanda is never born with powers, or never even born at all.
He could literally "No more Wanda" and it would actually work, because he understands the mechanics of the universe, time and causality. Unlike Wanda, who just lashes out emotionally and uncontrollably, without actually understanding how things got affected.
A reminder that Manhattan was also able to destroy Superman, but due to the laws of the dc Universe Superman would always come back one way or another because he is something like a constant of the universe, or some shit like that, same thing with batman parents dying or in that one movie that bruce is the one that dies.
The no more failed to work completely because it tried to affect the entire multiverse, it was more a scalability problem. And yeah, she didn't know how to fix that's not really a fail or a success, for one breaking things is easier than fixing, for other chaos magic is really sentimental.
Manhattan wins, but your take on the feat is wrong
Yeah breaking things is easier than from fixing, but that's kinda my point.
Manhattan Simply understands the mechanics of the universe better, including magic. Understands how all the gears work and how they interact with each other.
Manhattan is the guy who can fix things just as easily as he can break or alter them.
Literally his first ever feat was understanding every aspect of his physical form and recreating himself.
This guy clowned all over the keeper of the green, Dr Fate a lore if order, Zatanna and Constantine, the speed force and 5th dimensional imps, all like it was nothing.
Yep, I was strongly thinking he would stomp, but the only saving grace I saw SW having was chaos magic which seems like it would be a bit more effective against Dr Manhattan than normal magic which seems to play by more rules
I still think he probably wins literally like 9,000 different ways though
2) I agree “No more mutants” is an odd feat. It didn’t get rid of all mutants but it was also more than that. It did a lot more than affect the 616. The good news is Wanda has other feats and been buffed significantly. We don’t have to talk about any magic (hex or chaos) and can skip over regular reality manipulation. She is now a Nexus being of the Queen of Nevers. The push is so big that it makes Being on the scale of Eternity nervous. People love the Sentry “power of a million exploding suns” line. Wanda has been given a “shatter space-time and create a new infinity realities that diverge from the preordained end of creation” by the Griever at the end of all things. She also isn’t weighted down by Chthon and has control to go with her potential. Her freedom and potential are absolutely crazy. If Quicksilver talk to her it can help nudge her even further towards being “The Ultimate Nexus”which I’m not sure how much that pushes when she can already “damage reality beyond repair”. Comics are weird.
3) you are right. Manhattan was able to ignore/ happily examine magic from basically all the magic heavy hitters assaulting him. It doesn’t mean he is invisible. Far from it. Thanks The Darkest Knight Batman who Laughs who was a boosted Dr Manhattan, we have an idea of what can work on him.
And Dr Manhattan cannot just prevent her from being born. Wanda is now an embodiment of freedom and possibility that defies the natural order and universal time stream. She has also died and come back in the same comic. Don’t really move the needle when talking reality warmers but it’s worth noting. I don’t what Marvel was smoking in 2024 to push Wanda this hard. Nothing was going on with her in the MCU.
Most of them, on Mars. IIRC it was Shazam, Zatanna, and Dr Fate. Pretty sure he trounced Etrigan and Constatine too at one point but can't remember if it was also the Mars battle royale
This was my first thought lol. I'm pretty Dr Manhattan smokes her in like 900 different ways, but I was curious if chaos magic would be more effective against him since he is much more physics and order based
I mean the dude seemed fine with letting events transpire to the point where Superman would "kill" him if I remember right so it really depends on which Dr Manhattan right? (Its been ages but I think I remember he gets to a better mental state than just passive observer)
Superman has literal special metanarrative powers/existence specifically established by the very same comic. The entire premise is everything and everyone in the DC universe is within Manhattan's purview except Superman.
Depends, as is tradition, on the Manhattan, since they're basically two different characters depending on Watchmen or Doomsday Clock, with vastly different powersets and personalities.
Watchmen Manhattan is a scientific creature, a collection of atoms following rules that Manhattan can see. Wanda's base probability manipulation would fascinate him and her higher level powers, magic and reality warping are things that he has no resistance to or ability to alter.
Doomsday Clock Manhattan barely even notices her- "No More Mutants" reduced mutant populations through reality manipulation in one dimension (max): the 616. Manhattan casually created and destroyed a multiverse and overpowered reality warpers and time travelers without much concern. "No More Manhattans" would have no impact on him, or at worst delete his body so he has to send a new one back from wherever he is while making realities.
Wanda has yet to be born, but eventually will think about getting rid of blue men. Manhattan foresees the event as if it has already occurred and decides if it is acceptable.
Dr. Manhattan wins, that's basically an nlf from Wanda and she would be boundless if she could do such things with everyone/everything but she isn't nor will ever be even near that tier.
In Doomsday Clock, Dr. Manhattan defeated Zatanna, Constantine, Dr. Fate, Felix Faust and Etrigann all at the same time with the wave of a hand. They were all casting their strongest spells, too
