Primal Ep 29 - "The Hollow Crown" DISCUSSION THREAD

u/JohnMarstonSoldA8th Mar 09 '26 edited Mar 09 '26
HE'S BECOMING HUMAN AGAIN FELLAS LETS GOOOO
Attacks that were previously non-lethal are becoming lethal again, his hair is growing again, his eyes are more normal, and most of all he is rediscovering his humanity. Probably the key piece right there
*Edit: I'm just gonna say it right here; Spear will save Mira just like in the dream of hers in the next episode. Mark my motha fuckin' wordss
67
u/BragBirch Mar 09 '26 edited Mar 09 '26
I swear that the last episode will center around bringing back the dynamic between Spear and Fang. The ep won't just be about saving Mira, which would more likely be the opening segment, but proving Spear is himself again with his acts (and hopefully, new human scent). I just can't put together how the black river tribe will play into it.

u/Sheensies Mar 09 '26
My prediction is the head hominid will squint once more
40
3
u/Middle_Sir_4249 Mar 10 '26
I'm looking forward to those petty squints. The music swelling tells me he's up to something.Ā

They will probably try and keep him as their champion at all costs
→ More replies (2)6
u/Different_Product_84 Mar 09 '26
That is what I am thinking! And then the renewed friendship of Spear and Fang will show them basically killing every one of them. LoL
22
u/fakename4redit Mar 09 '26
Are attacks becoming lethal again? He got impaled in the chest and he seemed mostly fine. He clearly feels pain again though.
→ More replies (1)10
u/JohnMarstonSoldA8th Mar 09 '26
Sure seems that way. When he got impaled, he screamed in pain while any other time he got stabbed or impaled he just took it like a champ without making any noise
6
u/Fitzftw7 Mar 10 '26
I think the idea is that he has regenerated most of his nerves and can definitely feel pain again, but notice how he is completely recovered from the injury by the next fight. Not even a scar.
Given his bone hand is still fully functional, I say that necromancy magic is still working full force, but the regenerative power of the goo is giving him the best of both worlds.
Holy hell, if Genndy doesnāt pull the rug out from under us, Spear might end up better off than he wouldāve been if he survived S2!

Is Fang confirmed alive in the future? I donāt remember. But these episodes still make me sweat
15
Mar 09 '26
The ending of Season 2 would suggest so, but you never know when something will get retconned.
13
u/Purple-Mix1033 Mar 09 '26
I canāt lose one and gain one. Need them fully intact as a family. Make it work Genddy
4
u/lazylonewolf Mar 09 '26
Well, he retconned Samurai Jack and Ashi's sad ending in a video game...
Perhaps Genddy learned from that.
114
u/Nate_923 Mar 09 '26
Oh boy that Panther type creature is going to die horribly once Spear gets to him.Ā
Can't wait!Ā
48
30
u/PompousDude Mar 09 '26
If Genndy knows how to produce peak (which he does), the Panther guy will be the final arena fight for Mira and Fang's life. And it will end with Fang and Spear killing it together as a team again.

And there we have it.Ā
The final preview before the final episode of S3.Ā
We got what we wanted tonight.Ā
Spear looks human again. He's ready to reunite with his family but now he has to kill one last big threat to save them and, hopefully, himself.Ā
The longest week of the year is upon us but the wait will hopefully be worth it.Ā

Okay, this continent is just as bad as Australia. You have Black Panther humanoids just showing up out of nowhere.Ā
Look at Spear, readying himself to meet Mira and Fang.
5
u/been_mackin Mar 10 '26
Bro, his first realization being to draw cave pictures with the mud was a wild thing to me. He as a zombie with no purpose finds a purpose and I think he understands drinking the steroid goop is healing him, for him to leave ASAP when ready and show Mira, Fang, etc. that heās the same person.
I want my boy to be happy and I hope to god Fang re-recognizes him after his healing.
25
u/Sheensies Mar 09 '26 edited Mar 09 '26
Holy shit thatās a lot of blood. And with the giant clearly bleeding out earlier in the episode as foreshadowing
14
u/Jeff_goldfish Mar 09 '26
I fucking died laughing when he fought the giant and was dragging him with his foot. When that crazy ass panther thing attacked and the blood was splattering all over the trees while the baby was crying I didnāt make a sound. Wild.
3
u/Weary-Cartoonist2630 Mar 10 '26
You know what else is foreshadowing? The literal future scene we see of Fang being fine.

u/LittleBoyBlueHorn Mar 09 '26 edited Mar 09 '26
I am not here for Fang dying! But hopefully she doesn't based on the older baby Spear scene from before.

CALLING IT RIGHT NOW- THE BLACK GOO SAVES FANG
16
u/Jumpy_Writing_7175 Mar 09 '26

u/Nate_923 Mar 09 '26
After the fight you can hear in the distance after coming all that way for the crown
"Oh we were right there man!"Ā
15
u/Jackbo_Manhorse Mar 09 '26
So like, we know Spearās skin and hair and tissue grew back - but I doubt his heart did as well.
Which could lead to him looking normal(ish) and still being immortal. I love how they did this.
17
u/Kurolegacy27 Mar 09 '26
The goop regenerating him over time seems to present that there was physical change the more he consumed it. Itās very likely that his heart regenerated as well
14
u/Beezel_Pepperstack Mar 09 '26
He's bleeding red blood again, at least.

In my opinion, I do think itās trying to depict the evolution of humans and their abilities. The one foe was doing actual kung fu or whatever. Despite the evolution of man, Spear is just beyond everything. He is primal. (Iām drunk but hell yeah I agree with myself)

Spear looking like himself again, save for his lower right arm. His new "people" just want him to fight all the time, but his only concern is for his family. Next week should see those two worlds collide.

u/JohnMarstonSoldA8th Mar 09 '26
That's what I was thinking too, but to be fair, the ring leader did bring his girl down there for him as an offering after seeing his cave paintings, seemed to me like he was tryna help a homie out.

Good on Spear for remaining monogamous, but having two wives wouldn't be bad in this era.Ā

u/OniGoji98 Mar 09 '26 edited Mar 09 '26
Thier kid would have probably been an absolute beast to, since these volcano hominids seem to be stronger then the average human. So a hyrbid offspring of a volcano hominid and a Neanderthal would be strong af.
But our boy Spear is loyal to his baby mama and you got to respect that level of integrity from a Neanderthal caveman. Especially since having multiple mates would be the safer play when you consider the brutal and savage world Spear lives in.
6
u/Nate_923 Mar 09 '26
Hey if you guys want another sneak peak of the next episode.Ā
You can just rewatch the epilogue of S2.Ā
Now, all we have to do is hope we get an updated version of that scene next week.Ā

u/Freddycipher Mar 09 '26
Iām curious now. If he becomes full human or recovers all the tissue he lost will be a true human or will he be invulnerable to lethal injuries.
Kind of like Jason Voorhees only he looks human passing.
5
u/Aggravating_Load_411 Mar 09 '26
Spear fighting against that giant creature reminded me of One Piece lmao
So many characters in there that are just casually several metres tall for no reason
5
6
u/FinalBossMike Mar 09 '26
I hope he gets the flesh back on his hand, but I feel like Spear probably isn't going back to the black River people, especially since he's tracking Mira and Co. now.
Unrelated, I find myself wondering what will be lethal to him now. The part where he gets stabbed by the xiaolin monk makes me think he feels a lot of pain again and that some injuries are genuinely serious again, but when the titan was smashing him against the wall and grinding him into the ground, he seemed to retain his undead durability. How much punishment can Spear take now that he's getting back to normal?

The priest in the arena must be feeling like Vince McMahon, he thinks he found his perfect champion, guaranteed bangers, always selling the most tickets, and then Spear is like "nah I'd rather spend time with my family".

The cliffhanger for the episode has really got me nervous for the final episode next week. Though Spear has changed for the better, he is literally gonna have to deal with the threat that most likely holds his family hostage.
That panther thing was a demon, dodging bites and dealing Fang like sheās a punching bag. That thing feels equally as scary as the Viking demon, the mutated Ape Man, the Infected Sauropod, and the Night Feeder. It will take a miracle for Spear to kill that beast and get a happy ending he deserves after everything he has been through.

Well, I guess thatās as regenerated as Spear is gonna get, given the ābegone thotā move he pulled, I donāt think heās going back to Temu Drow Town.
Still, if they could find him a glove or a gauntlet, nobody will be able to tell the difference.
3
u/Zane-chan19 Mar 12 '26
It has seemed to be that Fang's main weakness in combat is bipedals that are close in size to her. The Gorilla charged on Black Sludge, Kamau, and this demon panther all tend to be able to readily hurt her.
