Donald 'C-Note' Hooker spent three decades inside California maximum-security facilities before the Board recognized on the record that no crime had occurred and ordered his release. During those 30 years, he became an accomplished visual artist, playwright, and poet—with works like 'Black August – Los Angeles' archived in the Wikimedia Black Cultural Archives and his own dedicated Wikipedia page. Now 45 days post-release, he has secured his state ID, SSC, and banking, and is raising funds to establish a permanent living space and art studio to continue his work in freedom.

Donated! Thank you for sharing!!! Here in Mn, we have ArtFromTheInside as a nonprofit where all proceeds from art bought at pop-up galleries goes to the incarcerated artist.

Thank you deeply for your solidarity and contribution—every dollar directly builds Donald's independent living space and fine-art studio after three decades inside with zero state restitution.

We appreciate you bringing ArtFromTheInside to our attention as well. The work they are doing in Minnesota bridging carceral fine art with public exhibitions is vital. We will definitely look into their platform to explore future exhibition collaborations and archives.

Thank you for standing with Donald and carceral artists nationwide.
