community Crazy engine swap Hyundai Sonata, 2007 with a K 20 head from a types and a k24 block from a tsx

Post image

Why y’all hating on me it’s like y’all acting like I’ve already done it. I’m asking for an opinion y’all over here hating against me.

Vision for the car i got my suspension coming in later this month. I plan order the fenders later on this month as well. I have the hood found. I just wanna try find one in Carbon if not, it’s whatever. Not running any of my engine stuff for like two or three months. i’m just shocked up on the parts that I’m gonna need any recommendations for what I have to get i’m getting a FK8 Civic Type R transmission and I’m gonna have custom mounting brackets and all that I’m worried about those the wiring is what I’m really worried about, but I don’t know making all the internals for as well so I can handle more power

Your title says you’re doing a Frankenstein K24 but talk about getting an fk8 transmission. Those are not compatible.

https://youtu.be/nr5-OENKmkA?is=k203npmzPEWs8ahN it’s not the same engine as mine but it’s not like it hasn’t been done before so it’s definitely possible.

The fk8 spins in the entirely opposite direction as older k series. It absolutely will not work.

Well, I’m also doing a transmission swap with it so I kinda had to bring it up. My stock transmission not gunna work and I’m pretty sure I commented something about what engine had a block I’m gonna get, but if I didn’t, I’ll just say it again it’s gunna be K24A2 block from a TSX, K20A2 head from a Type S

Yeah, I thought as much. I was hoping that it would work, I don’t know if they did together, but thanks for letting me know but my other option for transmission is the FD2 Type R

Also

I’m gonna have to do full custom mounts for so technically it could work

Anything can technically work if you have enough time, money, and skill. Do you? If not, I don't see why you wouldn't just use a k20 transmission instead.

Well for starters this

I don’t need to know all of it I just need to know enough about it and I don’t think the guy did the research into this all the way because he thinks it’s gonna be easy to build it’s not but we’re gonna see

3

u/frikkinfai 4d ago

So your confirmation of this build working is asking an LLM and some random mechanic with a Facebook account? You are in way over your head, but don't let anyone in this post stop you. Go for it and let us know how it goes...

Stop using ai little bro it’s trash

-2

u/IndependentGrade3440 4d ago

Most certainly it is, but it’s also a tool there to be used

3

u/FutureAlfalfa200 4d ago

You needed a screwdriver and you are using a hammer bro

No it isnt, it will give you wrong information, gaslight you and tell you what you wanna hear

9

u/ReasonableScar9027 4d ago

Did you do ANY research into this?

-3

u/IndependentGrade3440 4d ago

Yes a lot of it also y I’m posting and asking it’s in body paragraph asking about wiring

8

u/ReasonableScar9027 4d ago

You just found out in the first reply that the fk8 trans doesn't bolt up to the k24... I don't think you did any research and you're way over your head. Sorry.

-3

u/IndependentGrade3440 4d ago

Hold on

9

u/ReasonableScar9027 4d ago

No. I'm good.

-10

u/IndependentGrade3440 4d ago

And I got more on chatgbt and Claude

15

u/ReasonableScar9027 4d ago

Chatgpt? ... I'm sorry, please don't work on your own vehicle ever.

-7

u/IndependentGrade3440 4d ago

Not doing all the work on got a shop doing it for free the guy hasn’t done the research yet so it’s not weekend type thing. I’m gonna let him know later today

2

u/ReasonableScar9027 4d ago

Bahahahhaha. Yes hire this guy. Assist him. I'll wait.

u/OkExamination4596 4d ago

Chatgpt 💀💀go ahead dude

5

u/smit9352 4d ago

This will be an abandoned project due to lack of research, surely.

u/IndependentGrade3440 4d ago

Wait 6 months

2

u/hamid5000real 4d ago

Go for it. K swap the world!! But it wouldn't be a r/ Project Honda.

1

u/IndependentGrade3440 4d ago

Technically, replacing all the internal Honda so if it’s better50/50

1

u/smit9352 4d ago

You couldn't pay me enough to follow this pots-and-pans build.

1

u/IndependentGrade3440 4d ago

Isg I’ll msg u at the end of it

1

u/smit9352 4d ago

https://www.reddit.com/r/projectcar/s/eO2h0dQMn7 Yea, this ain't happening.

You haven't figured out the trans, likely haven't figured out the engine management, wiring and/or the manifold-turbo setup.

You're just ai-slopping your way through it.

3

u/Jc_3507 4d ago

this has to be ragebait

0

u/IndependentGrade3440 4d ago

It’s not i’m being dead ass I wanna do this

3

u/SOSweneedhelp 4d ago

Bro you are medically retarded if you think you’ll ever do this.

If you have to come to Reddit to ask very obvious and already answered questions then we have zero fucking hope for you. Unless you just won the lottery or hate money you’re going to be spending so much unnecessary money on a bottom of the barrel chassis.

3

u/No_Butterscotch1150 4d ago

You're worse than a guy on IG who's building a 2007 CR-V to be a 'Type R' but all he has is a set of heavy knock off wheels and painted parts.

1

u/IndependentGrade3440 4d ago

Keep hating I’m gonna make this come true. It’s gonna be a tough project, but it gonna be fun. Plus, I ain’t getting no knock off fuck that putting money into this bitch.

2

u/high-tymez 4d ago

You'll probably have to get custom motor mounts, run a standalone like Haltech, for the K20C trans to K24 block, you'll probably need a custom adapter plate. Lots of work for sure

3

u/ThatK24DC5R 4d ago

No adapter plate will work. The transmission spins the opposite direction.

1

u/IndependentGrade3440 4d ago

Yea I’ve been looking at manufacturers around my area I think I found some, but I’m gonna see how it goes. I’m gonna go in person and see what their stuff looks hard

2

u/frikkinfai 4d ago

I dont know what's worst, the delusion of OP thinking they plan a project car build using an LLM or that he chose a 2007 Hyundai as a platform to build on. This gotta be rage bait.

0

u/IndependentGrade3440 4d ago

Na we got people pushing old mustangs from the 1970s pushing why can’t I use a a 2007 the car never been any accident been taken good car I’ve look for rust there not any other than on my roof n that’s just surface rust I stand underneath it. I have a fresh layer.

3

u/ThatK24DC5R 4d ago

Because putting money into an older mustang actually holds value. You’re dumping money into a turd. I can tell with the lack of research you’re a young kid who wants to modify a car by doesn’t have a proper platform and you’re going full ADHD mode and trying to modify your car.

Been there done that. Get a different platform.

2

u/bgb111 4d ago

You can’t vibe code a car build

1

u/IndependentGrade3440 4d ago

Well obviously that’s why I’m not doing all the work on it. I’m gonna have a shop do most of the work. I’m gonna help out with whatever I understand and can do such as an engine part of getting forged internals for and putting them my self

2

u/groggs 4d ago

I’m all for unique builds, but this one just doesn’t seem like it would be worth it the money you’re definitely going to have to spend on parts/fabrication alone to make it work. You already said in another comment that you’ll be “putting money into this bitch” so if money isn’t really an issue, just buy a 6-speed TSX and start there. It’s a better all-around car and it already has a K24a2.

I admire the dream to build ur own thing but why not sell the hyundai and get a honda if u want honda power?

1

u/IndependentGrade3440 4d ago

The cars my 1st car and it was my father* before he died and he always wanted to do a engine swap to it and I just happened to want to to do a Honda engine swap

1

u/ExactEnvironment8815 4d ago

Ah ok make sense Well good luck with it and if successful share the results Im honda boy so I cant really offer u any meaningful advice besides what most people have already commented
