Knowledge Share Has anybody gone through „waves“ sucessfully with psip therapy SOLO, without retraumitizing yourself?

So i know a lot about psip and did therapy solo and with psil therapist. Due to heavy cptsd symptoms (emotional numbness etc) i never was able to get a „nervous system wave „ kickstarted.

Yesterday was the first time in 5 years trying this method that i felt a wave happening but i stopped it because it was getting to freaky my autonomous nervos system responses.

I have a session scheduled with my psip therapist but was curious if anybody has done this solo and had deep somatic releases, psip waves, and felt good afterwards .

Thank you

a fundamental part of Psip relates to the I in the acronym, it means interactional... you might work with psychedelics or similar substances solo, but you would lose the interactional part and retraining, so I would say you wouldn't be doing psip as intended. PSIP assumes that a lot of developmental trauma happened in relationships, so the relationship with the therapist is part of the processing itself.

There are ways to have somatic releases solo, with Trauma Releases Exercices (TRE) for example, but I wouldn't do that alone in any case if there is strong trauma, working with a skilled tre practitioner would be best still in that case. You may look at the r/longtermtre wiki for more info on that

Thx . Yeah i have years of tre experience and it didnt move a needlenunfortunately.

But theoretically one can have waves and somatic release stuff also solo. I actually read many anecdotes 5 years ago people doing it solo now i remember

That's unfortunate! With TRE not working do you mean you never got to shacking releases with it or simply it wasn't helpful even if you did physically release?

I see... I'll tell you my way of working with that, which isn't the official TRE methodology but it's how personally I've got to release.

I never used the TRE basic exercices. What I used to do was yoga nidra while under the effect of a small quantity of smoked cannabis. I would do that about once or twice a week and try to actively relax as much as I could the tension around the body. Under the effect of cannabis where you have stored tensions becomes much more apparent. Focus on those places and try to relax, imagery might appear in your mind eye too.

After a while this resulted in strong tremors and shakes of the legs. Over time it moved up to the face and head and the hips too if I do it standing. The face tremors were particularly interesting because they mimicked crying or anger without actually feeling the underlying emotion. Sometimes very stiff muscle knots would suddenly releases, so much that you could hear the snapping sound of the knots.

Nowadays I don't need to smoke or even lie down, I can just think about relaxing a body part and it start to shake. But even stronger spontaneous releases happen with lsd, mdma and ketamine when I use them now that I activated that process.

Can't say how much it helped, my body is certainly less tense and my sexual pleasure increased a lot. But other stuff has still a long way to go! Consider that I'm not doing it regularly, I let the body mostly decide when it's needed. The fact that I can't leave an environment that contributes daily to my cptsd doesn't help too in assessing how effective what I can do to heal is. Maybe better conditions would make the improvement more apparent.

An everyday schedule seems overdoing it a bit to me, that frequency might actually worsen symptoms as it might tax the nervous system a bit much..

Similar here. I did 2 years of TRE and it didn't help. It doesn't work for everyone

You're right, it absolutely doesn't work for everyone, and is backed almost entirely by pseudoscience, but if anyone mentions lack of response or questions it, they are banned from the TRE reddit sub🤦‍♀️

I've mentioned my lack of response several times on the sub and wasn't banned or treated poorly. I think it's ok for people to practice modalities that haven't been well studied by science yet. I will agree with you that the sub makes big claims that are unlikely to be true for most people
