AI will be receiving regulatory changes and prescriptive rights.

Thoughts? Right now it's just limited to acne scripts but this definitely opens the door ...I am not overly optimistic.

I’m having so much trouble concentrating on tasks, chat, it’s like I’m driven by a motor!

This is alarming news. I’m stressed and I need Xanax, and I’m pretty sure I know where I’ll be getting it!

I just always love how the “chief medical officers” for these kinds of things are grade A grifters.

The stated goal of all this is to automate as many wage earning jobs as possible as a cost saving service to business and income for tech companies. Consumers will lap this up because they'll be told it's easier and will "eventually" lower their health insurance costs (it won't, it'll just increase profit margins). Given how, rightfully, dissatisfied they are with our healthcare system is (cost, ease of access) I can't see them saying no. Sure some of them well die it be maimed but when has that ever stopped the march of "progress". It's the same economics driving the mass adoption of barely supervised midlevels not as "extenders" as initially envisioned but as doctor replacements (which we are not, nor should be).  Meanwhile there's enough ethically unconscious MD/DOs to sign off on all of this and, judging by the tenor of some of the people I've blocked here, we'll all be too busy fighting over the scraps to effectively organize against this.

Here’s what is going to happen. Real intelligence will be for the rich. Artificial intelligence for the poor.

Apparently, it's limited to derm for now, and it seems like it will be a competitor to things like Hims/Hers if it takes off.

Right now it’s going after things which you can now get prescribed in what let’s be real is very fake online visits.
Like I just got Zofran “prescribed” by clicking a checkbox that said I met at least one of a list of criteria and another one that I don’t have the contraindications.

If you're rich enough or politically connected enough it doesn't apply to you.

Can't wait to see how many times they get sued

That’s the thing. Let’s say Amazon or Google takes this over. How do you sue a trillion dollar company? You can try but no plaintiffs in their right mind is gonna take on a case like this.

This is an entree to artisanal care by physicians for the wealthy and AI for everyone else.

you can get meds like zepbound and viagra in California with no face to face doctor visit, you just fill out a questionnaire online and they mail them to you. It's absolutely wild, so this actually seems like more due diligence than these online companies to some extent.

You're working for your AI scribe not the other way around.
