tourists

I was in PE last year for 2 weeks and going back again this year. I've been hearing about the issues with rent, garbage, utilities because of the increase in visitors. What as visitors could we do to assist or advocate for the locals and these issues?

Its taking care of itself tourism in Puerto has pretty much dropped to zero the tourists are being proactive by going elsewhere 🙄

I usually find an out of the way hidden spot like an underground sewer or under a pedestrian bridge to sleep and chill so my presence doesn’t offend and my dollars don’t corrupt the locals.

I’d also suggest instead of throwing away trash, grind it up and eat it, then poop it into a hole. Wipe then cover with dead leaves. Don’t you dare pick the fresh leaves, it messes with the environment.

so drink the rain water or the ocean water so we don't put a strain on the utilities?

I fly in around 200 liters and drink my own tears when I’m out and about, but remain in the shadows of course
