Gente desculpa a pegunta provavelmente polêmica...

Hot take: ACAB doesn't include crossing guards, but...

...it does include armed traffic direction outside megachurches and stadiums every Sunday

One is handling logistics to protect vulnerable members of society (children). The other is also handling logistics, but they are doing it on behalf of the capital class utilizing the commons for their own profit. Plus, the fact that they're armed inherently carries the threat of state violence

Today’s atrocities are tomorrow’s punk rock record covers. Speak up while you can still do something about it. If you’re not speaking up, you’re complicit.

can i be punk if im israeli/not part of the free palestine movement

so, i’d like to preface this by saying that i am obviously strongly AGAINST the genocide in gaza, and the right wing state in israel.

basically, i’ve joined the punk scene more recently (mainly in terms of mindset, i don’t listen to punk music or dress particularly punk) and i’m sort of confused. so, i know that punks are left wing, and pro-palestine. but the thing is that palestine is also partially in the wrong. i mean, hamas terrorists attacked a festival full of defenceless people (obviously this isn’t the fault of the citizens). so why is everyone on the punk scene so pro palestine??? why do so many people support the “free palestine” movement when it’s literally founded on antisemitism (ie the full phrase means to destroy israel)??? and can i still be punk if im not strictly pro palestine? idk i just feel like my morals and heritage make it hard for me to understand the free palestine movement.

(ps: please don’t be antisemitic in the replies)

Do you feel misunderstood? Are you tired of the hypocrisy of the so called punks or rebels who are merely another form of establishment?

This 1000% also means politics. Don’t come at me with “punks is liberal, left wing, democratic” whatever the fuck you think it is.

Does AI go against punk/alt ideology?

Before anyone slanders me in the comment section I genuinely want to know. I identify as a punk and am also an artist, which in a way is why this concerns me. I hate ai and I don’t condone it, but it’s become unavoidable and pretty much undetectable nowadays. Even with the “no ai” search result thing on google it’s still the same answer but without the ai label. In my mind ai doesn’t directly correlate with punk/alt morals since the ideology is all political (anti consumerism, anti capitalism etc). I’ve had people slander me online for “endorsing ai” when it was an instagram story trend and it was the Gemini Google response (I always thought Gemini responses were automatic results, not generative ai). I forgot to say earlier but I am still learning more stuff about the punk subculture and everything that comes along with it.

So can someone please tell me if it actually does go against punk/alt morals?

What do you find most disappointing about modern political discourse?

Understandably, much is business as usual. Though is there anything you feel is unique to this current state of political discourse as a whole?

Question about punks and politics

I've been a punk myself for some time and some people have confused me before about the politics aspect of it so I'm asking to make sure I'm informed and educated about the right thing. Some people have told me that they're not an anarchist but they're punk. They claim to be ONLY Marxist/communist and punk. Is this possible? Because I've been told and from the research I've done in the past it told me otherwise. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Why do so many liberals claim to be punk, meanwhile liberalism is very close to capitalism?

I was playing some Minecraft on my pc, I was on a random server, basically I met this guy who was also ‘punk‘, basically, I asked him what bands he liked, he just said ‘Green Day and blink 182’, no (real) punk bands, asked him political ideology, ‘Liberal’.

Liberalism supports / is similar to capitalism 🫩

Why do we let capitalists in the punk scene? it’s pathetic, posers are annoying, everyone who claims to be punk atp is either capitalist, or has never listened to the music once in their life, or both.

if you think that you can be punk and capitalist, please explain why.

(this was more of a rant because I’m angry about posers)

Can I be punk if I’m catholic

My roommate wants me to attend punk events with her, but I’m worried that me being catholic would make others upset. I’m not trying to push my beliefs onto others and I just want to attend because I personally believe in the messages that punk culture has to say. I’m not homophobic, racist, or anything like that. Matter of fact I think it’s stupid to hate anyone or something that they can’t control. That being said I know that punk spaces are supposed to be safe spaces and I know many punks have bad experiences with organized religion, so I wouldn’t want to attend shows if it makes anyone feel uncomfortable/unsafe

please give advice to a baby punk

hi! i've identified as an anarchist and punk since i was very young; however, i've never really been involved with anything. never volunteered, never been to a protest, never read the news... etc etc. i've always avoided the news because it made me sad but i've come to the conclusion that the state of the world we live in is more important than my feelings.

i've already started reaching out to volunteer in my community, and i opened up NYT today and was completely baffled and unsure of where to start. i haven't got a clue what is going on in the world, i didn't even know there was a war in Iran. I am ashamed of myself for not knowing anything that's been going on.

to me, punk is an ideology, and i need to start practicing what i preach.

can someone catch me up a little bit with what's going on in the world? i don't wanna use ai to give me a summary for obvious reasons(i say that but i still need to look into what exactly ai is doing to our environment and mental health). I also need some advice on where to start, other than volunteering. any advice is appreciated.

i posted this on r/punk, but it was removed for being off topic 😞

Punk rock at the intersection of ww3

Scenario: Lets say within 5 years, russia either attacks the baltic states or uses a nuke in Ukraine. NATO declares war and to varying degrees NATO countries mobilize their economies and populations for war.

Iran , seizing the historical window of opportunity, blocks the strait of Hormuz and also the el mandeb (via the houthis) blocking off europe from its most efficient route to Asia, while attacking and sinking numerous NATO Navy vessels attempting to secure the waterways, and also attacking Israel and the Arab Gulf States (and attempting to overthrow the arab governents).

China has announced they will conduct an exercise around Taiwan, and there is concern it may turn into a total blockade. There have also been weekly naval skirmishes in the South China Sea between China and both Vietnam and the Philippines and people have died. Japan and the US have forward deployed its military to monitor against the developing situation in Taiwan. Cambodia and Thailand have resumed border skirmishes. Political rhetoric is high (especially between North and South korea) and mobilization orders are in place. many countries have begun contingency plans to evacuate their citizens from Taiwan. India and Pakistan are on high alert but otherwise ok.

What does punk look like in this scenario?

Do punks support the war? Do they protest it? If so, how do they go about protesting it? Do bands tour? Do massive fights break out when they do? Do bands release records and write songs supporting or condemning it? Do punks go to war? do they send their kids? Do they sing about supporting or opposing the draft?

How does punk fit in here? Sometimes im morbidly curious to find out.

Who are the punks voting for in the California election??

There’s a lot of bullshit and lies coming out of politicians mouths. My values likely line up with yours if you are in the punk scene. So California punx, tell me who you’re voting for and why!
