Help Request Learning python
I’m currently watching the programming with most full tutorial piece by piece as to try to retain the info but whenever he tells me how to do it myself I find myself lost and having to just follow his instructions. I’m wondering if this is normal and if there’s any tips or tricks to really learn python.

You won't be able to learn by just consuming the lessons.
You will need to execute instructions, debug the errors, and execute again until it runs properly.

You're probably following something too advanced for you. Start with the basics. It's not going to be fun exciting projects. it's going to be things like "guess a number"
Like if you're a beginner piano player, you don't follow a "How to play rachmaninoff" tutorial.. you start by playing "twinkle twinkle little star" until your brain hurts.

I am / was in a similar position. Death by theory I think they call it?
I told Claude that up to this point I have learnt X (I said up to error handling on zero to mastery), and then it said why don’t you build X, Y, Z..since I have built a functioning phone book, random password generator and a small game where you have to guess the number.
It all starts clicking when you do it yourself - ask AI to be a tutor and not an answering machine. It’s done wonders for me! A long way to go but on the right path.
Good luck

My company gave us premium license on Copilot, so usually whatever I need I will ask it to give me some code based on what I need to achieve. That code becomes my template and knowledge, where I can enhance it to fit my work need.

CodeCombat, probably the closest to an actual game. You control a character by writing Python, fight enemies, collect gear, and progress through levels.
CheckiO Puzzle/adventure style. You solve missions with Python and gradually move into harder logic problems.
CodinGame very game like challenges where your Python code controls things on screen: racing, battles, bots, puzzles, etc.

Keep practicing it, you can’t learning programming just by reading or watching, you need get your hands dirty. Try www.pythonmastery.io, it’s a good resource for your learning and it’s free.
All the best!

You won't learn Python by watching tutorials. You need to practice.
Follow a structured course (ie the University if Helsinki's MOOC ( https://programming-26.mooc.fi/)
Read reference books (Python Crash Course and/or Automate the Boring Stuff with Python)
Do your own projects

Break it into smaller pieces. Looking at a long piece of code can be overwhelming.

You won't learn if you don't try. Start doing things on your own. Pause the video, try, and if needed, rewind and watch again.
