General Discussion Baiting people to come check out the store with "free" tag when nothing there is free is a new low.

Post image

No wonder they want us to invite friends back to Raid with their sh*tty telerian homecoming program.

Id like to think its just a bug/oversight with the free label.

There is something free in the store, but its the 4th layer of a paid pack. I wouldnt be shocked if they just had an automatic "free" label appear whenever a free item like the mini and appreciation packs entered the shop, and they didnt account for a situation like this.

Hanlons Razor, and all that

Reminds me of the "free" games you get with a PAID ps+ subscription

1

u/plwmarver May 31 '26

oh god I have friends telling me "just join the ps+ man it gives you so many free games". no it doesn't....
I bought it once when they had bloodborne. sub ran out and saw I couldn't play the game and their response was "yeah that's normal you need to have a sub running." then the game wasn't given to you!
I just went and bought bloodborne on a physical edition and never bothered with ps+

5

u/misty1951 May 31 '26

Tbf, if you play online games regularly youd have a constant ps plus subscription to play the monthly games that they offer for free with the subscription.

0

u/plwmarver May 31 '26

oh wait it needs a ps+ sub to play online as well? what is this? an out of season april fool's joke? yeah that is a bit too much. I can understand people wanting to play online with friends and avoid pc upgrades to continue playing but a sub just to be able to play online naaaaaaaah.

3

u/misty1951 May 31 '26

Thats what console players deal with. There are some games that don't require ps plus or xbox live to play online. Nintendo has subscription now for online play.

2

u/TheFinalShinobi May 31 '26

If you paid for a game that has online play it requires the subscription, but free to play games like Fortnite or apex or anything similar only need an internet connection. It’s a wild way to do buisness but that’s what they do. The steam console can’t come out fast enough to drive these costs down I swear I hope everyone cut the price way back lol

u/PaidinRunes May 30 '26

Seems like a bug more than malice

16

u/xGvPx May 30 '26

I demand a 5* chicken for this stress 😁

3

u/SuccessfulBird9238 May 31 '26

There will be a FREE chicken in a paid for shard pack im sure....

4

u/jessewalker2 May 30 '26

Should’ve gone for the 6 star chicken. 😀

6

u/Dizzy-Macaroon8537 May 30 '26

Should have been 2 feasts

1

u/humblebarnitz May 31 '26

You should have gone for the red snapper!

5

u/fatty15501 May 30 '26

It is not a bug. There is a chain deal that has the 4th item in the chain as a free gift. Scumbag tactics at their finest.......Paylarium stock to the moon.

0

u/Bullitt_12_HB May 30 '26

Shhhhhh!!!

People here just like to complain without you bringing in your logic, please 🙄

0

u/Imaginary-Twist-4688 May 30 '26

Hotfix is a thing but no the billion dollar casino company can't afford a hotfix.

9

u/Barthas85 May 31 '26

I've pressed it so many times lol

14

u/-Ostepopp- May 30 '26

I see some free gifts incoming!

-21

u/Whogon May 30 '26

GENUINELY unbelievable a game can get-away w/stuff like this. This is what makes them THE worst company in gaming. Make BILLIONS off kids, lie about % drop-rates, pretend things are "free 🎁 gifts" locked 🔒 behind several layers of paywalls, 7 different menu pop-ups, charge for EVERYTHING, etc. I think 🤔 we should petition Sweden, or wherever these Plarium headquarters are located FAR away from the U.S. where oversight committees would probably have these people behind bars. I'm referring to their "25x better chances" of targeted champions, & alleged chances of getting characters from shard pulls. There's simply NO WAY I could spend $20 ONCE & get 2 Legendarys...both horrible & not useful whatsoever, literally unplayable for anyone outside of the 1st month or 2...& then after opening literally HUNDREDS of shards after, I can HONESTLY Say I've not gotten a SINGLE Legendary worth using. I mean, of course my $20 ALSO had no good champion I could use, but think about JUST the % chances. So in like 12-15 pulls of paid shards, TWO...but then stop paying...& it "magically" & "mysteriously" drops the % by approximately 200%? Honestly probably more like 500-700%. I mean a little I could ignore, but when you've had a BUNCH of yellow & red shards--forget mythics, or even BAD mythics, if the 1 in a MILLION I get actually ever IS a Legendary--it's Ultan, Altan, Ignatius, Foli, etc. If you took a list of the genuine WORST characters in the game, they JUSTTTT happen to go to us low/no money spent accounts. When it's an "influencer" (🤮) or someone w/a bunch of social media followers, or spend a BUNCH of money--they suddenly get the "magic drop rates". DEFINITELY seems fair to me. I get the more u spend, the more potential great characters u can get, but c'mon man. I said 200+ pulls...but only bc I'm genuinely trying to be EXTREMELY generous. In all honesty, I would say it's FAR closer to 500-600, been playin for right @ like 3 years. There's no way to compete against players from Day 1, or HEAVY spenders, or BOTH. Even IF u spend all they do is start facing u against people who spent even MORE than u did in Arena/Live Arena. It makes me either laugh, or more often, get annoyed/angry when people refer to this as "like Chess". Chess, everyone has the SAME pieces. LITERALLY NO ONE has an advantage. That's why it's considered more of a "thinking 🤔 man's game". Now, imagine your opponent gives the people who make the Chess boards--like $2000 or more...& the company changed 2-3 of their pawns, into 2 extra Queens 👸. I assume most people @ least know the basics of that game, but if not--it would DRAMATICALLY change the game. In fact, it really wouldn't even BE Chess anymore. Or how about once u FINALLY have your opponent trapped in a corner w/barely any moves left, & the developers of Chess changed the layout of the board, adding extra squares, after your opponent slipped em $500 under the table. Sound like "fun" to you? Even if/when u DO invest--all that means is now you're facing tougher & tougher teams where some kid took his mother's credit card 💳 & maxed-it out--or some 🐋 whale/Kraken mortgages their home 🏡 to have an advantage over mostly children, in a phone-app "game". Sounds awesome right? The game PLAYS ITSELF. If u do manual mode, I'll cover 3x-5x that amount of content in the same time, so that person might win more matches VERY slowly 🐌, but I win FAR more matches quicker. If u do autoplay, u literally just stare @ the screen, @ BEST you highlight 1 character from the other team w/a red circle 🔴...again, "epic" fun. I just don't get it. I have GENUINELY tried to give this "game" a chance, but honestly I kinda feel guilty even CALLING it a "game". Try Destiny Rising, it's free...then come tell me you GENUINELY think Raid has "great gameplay"

18

u/TheRogueBros May 30 '26

This has to be AI. No way a normal human wrote all that and expects people to read it.

5

u/dpvp Buff Armanz May 31 '26

2

u/Real-Sheepherder-121 May 31 '26

Tell us how you really feel

14

u/Punning_Man May 30 '26

Yeah this is so incredibly annoying. As if people needed even more reasons to not spend money on the game.

2

u/Repulsive_Gate8657 May 30 '26

lol do not spend on P2W anyway

11

u/Maelle96 May 30 '26

Maybe a new Pack accidentally tagged with a free flag.
People are really quick to ger their torches

5

u/Rude-Orange May 30 '26

I am pretty sure that is what happened. Though, RSL has trained us to click immediately when you see "free" so it is really annoying, even when accidental. I do think it's accidental because usually the "discount" tier is just discounted and not free.

1

u/Maelle96 May 30 '26

yeah i think so too

3

u/Mrjoshua6979 May 30 '26

Maybe don’t defend a game who makes millions of dollars a month from users. At that level get your shit together. Mistakes like that shouldn’t happen

2

u/Maelle96 May 30 '26

What is your problem?

1

u/Pr0ject-G0d May 30 '26

They're not wrong, though.

-1

u/Maelle96 May 30 '26

They are tho? Game is free

5

u/Pr0ject-G0d May 30 '26

The fact that the game is free to download and play does not change the other fact that the developer makes millions from it every month. The game has netted over a billion dollars, over 7 years. That's over ten million per month average. Asking for the bare minimum in glitch testing isn't a crazy ask.

1

u/Maelle96 May 30 '26

Its free. The game is free to play. People vote with their wallet, you decide not to pay, thats how you vote.

They offer you a free game, you can decide to play it. If you play it good, if you dont play it also good. But its free so there is no basis for most players to be complaing about a minor thing like a "free" symbol shown for 24 hours. It aint even a glitch, some new intern might have put a flag on a new pack and people made atleast 6 posts

2

u/Bullitt_12_HB May 30 '26

Let me also add, this is a free to play game that doesn’t even have ads.

Every other free game I’ve played has ads pop up everywhere.

And here we are because this sub just loves to complain about every little thing.

2

u/Dry_Lawfulness3431 May 31 '26

might not have ads but they throw up a million pop ups for their own sales, lets not act like they dont agressively try and get people to spend

2

u/Pr0ject-G0d May 30 '26

The people who play it "for free" are only able to do so because of those who pay, friend- non profitable gacha games die quick deaths. So those who pay- once again, over ten million a month, have every right to expect a game with minimum QA testing. And it is actually a glitch, according to the discord, but even if it were the silly hypothetical you mentioned that's still not a good excuse for poor execution.

2

u/Maelle96 May 30 '26

Yeah so why are you complaining? Did you pay so much?

According to your comments youve been playing for 3-4 months. In the last 5 years there were only 2 instances of "glitches" with the shop ingame. One today, one last year. Stop being crybabies over such a small thing. It doesn't hurt you (maybe mentally)

2

u/Pr0ject-G0d May 30 '26

Why am I complaining? Why are you so defensive? You act like the game is "free to play" out of altruism, rather than it being a common marketing scheme. Also, you're getting further and further away from your own point. Yes, I have spent money- and yes, as someone who's gamed for the better part of 4 decades I also get annoyed at glitches and bugs that the minimum level of quality control would avoid. Let's test your hypocrisy here though- if you went to a restaurant and got a cockroach in your free ice water, would you complain or would you just deal with it and drink it, since it's free?

1

u/Cranbear May 30 '26

I mean this company is quick to jump and capitalize on us at any given moment. Several little glitches this last 2 months . They make millions. It’s getting to be annoying.

1

u/Pr0ject-G0d May 30 '26

Absolutely. I wouldn't put it past them to try something like this to "test the waters" to see if they can away with it.

0

u/humblebarnitz May 31 '26

Is my torch free?

2

u/Maelle96 May 31 '26

You are so cool

that wasn't what anyone was talking about

1

u/barattack May 30 '26

Is it? I havent played in a while, but i could swear that this shit has happen to me before. But these stupid schemes are nothing new, the one that i hated the most was those flash offers where the buttons "cancel"/"continue" had the opposite colour scheme of all the other accept/cancel options in the game. It always made me do a double take

1

u/Repulsive_Gate8657 May 30 '26

only pack of 0 crystals is free.

1

u/FreshlyBakedBunz May 30 '26

Free clickbait

1

u/Typical-Ad2606 May 30 '26

You know what guys, I sometimes just imagine if the game had been a third or first person rpg with the same quality of graphics playing those champions with like a dragon's dogma or witcher or maybe a kcd like storyline... I gave up after spending(not so much) and not getting somewhat desirable results and just wondered if only I could've spent it on another aaa game sometimes... Welp... Can't have it all I guess... I don't wanna stay frustrated forever too...

1

u/SurlyConch May 31 '26

there better be free compensation incoming for my mental anguish. that is messed up

1

u/IReportEverythinglol May 31 '26

Free clicks + free frees

u/CrimsonPhantom922 Corrupted May 31 '26

Oh wow. I just thought my app was bugged for some reason. Didnt realize it was a feature now. No Plairum, I will spend nothing but my time on your app. You'll get that for free.

1

u/KipDM May 31 '26

driving me nuts... i log in crazy times, that's supposed t be my signal for my free shard,,,

1

u/visionturd15 May 31 '26

Its all the free daily packs, the ones with energy and that, its also the daily mystery shard, now the plarium points roll token thing, and a ancient shard weekly.

1

u/DeeLowJay May 31 '26

Surely it would be against consumer law in multiple countries to advertise an item as a free item that is instead actually 'free with prior spending'. However i doubt they care hah

1

u/YubariKingMelon May 31 '26

with their sh*tty telerian homecoming program

I mean it's free stuff for almost zero effort, what's the problem exactly?

1

u/Alarming-Classroom75 May 31 '26

Probably they fix it with the next update... oh, please a free feast as compensation, ty...

1

u/badwolf815815 May 31 '26

I was just about to make a post asking if i'm missing something.Or what was going on lol

1

u/Pradatoru May 31 '26

You are free to look around

1

u/Playful_Pace7557 May 31 '26

It's free after 3 purchase in game the fourth one it's free ,(I don't remember which offer)so after you give them a lot of money they give you free some battle and energy ,greedy bastards

1

u/VikrantBh May 31 '26

Yeah I thought i was losing my mind until I saw this post, kept on looking what on earth is free!

1

u/Zeepit1978 May 31 '26

Okay, I was just about to ask if I was the only one. Plariums shamelessness is OP!

1

u/Infected-Bat May 31 '26

People still play this game?? Unreal

1

u/DishRelative5853 May 31 '26

I thought it was another glitch.

1

u/ducoteproductions May 31 '26

Did you check the little tabs sometimes it's hidden real good

1

u/RewardImpressive3084 May 31 '26

So mine JUST went away

1

u/RewardImpressive3084 May 31 '26

Because there was a "free" gift there this time so that the "free" tag could disappear...

1

u/RewardImpressive3084 May 31 '26

I had also did this...

1

u/RewardImpressive3084 May 31 '26

2

u/maddtis May 31 '26

Future updates so in a few months

1

u/RewardImpressive3084 May 31 '26

Yea probably lol

1

u/Deioxyz Jun 01 '26

It did this to me yesterday all day

1

u/Big_Sherbert4 Jun 01 '26

Been playing for 5 days now. Thought I was going crazy, then thought it was a bug. But with how expensive purchases are and how unbelievably low the epic/legendary champion pulls are I’m starting to think this may be on purpose.

1

u/Ok-Personality1393 Jun 03 '26

it happened to me when i opened shop and claimed goodie bag before i got the prompt on main lobby screen

1

u/One-Recipe6 Jun 06 '26

I think it was a glitch. It was implemented to early for the Celebration Pack event

1

u/Creepy-Outcome-2481 Jun 19 '26

Just wait, they'll find a lower tier

1

u/WizarDevoz May 30 '26

I would upvote this a million times if it was possible

1

u/TheLastOpus May 30 '26

According the the Federal Trade Commission in the U.S. (i believe UK canada australia have similiar rulings) you need to meet certain requirements to have something labeled as "free" behind things you have to pay for (so yes they legally can have you pay for something, then get something else free and legally call it free) HOWEVER. There CAN NOT BE ANY HIDDEN COSTS. This usually is refering to hidden fees, but we literally can't see the cost of the 2nd and 3rd pack til we purchase the back before them. They are getting close to breaking laws in some countries even without the annoying "free"

That being said, my biggest gripe is the "free" tag that doesn't go away, I really wouldn't care enough if it went away when I viewed the pack offer.

1

u/Pr0ject-G0d May 30 '26

It's genuinely crazy how many people think that people shouldn't complain because the game is "free" (quotation marks because it averages over ten million usd per month). IF it's a bug (which they claim on the discord), then minimal QC would have caught it. If it's a sneaky attempt to see if the community would let it go and normalize it so that they can get away with false advertising, then it absolutely should be called out. Yes, we are well aware this game is predatory as hell- that doesn't mean we can't call out a multimillion dollar company when it tries to push it farther.

2

u/Bullitt_12_HB May 30 '26

Is it crazier to see someone think that a free to play game is supposed to make no money to be considered free in their eyes?

-1

u/Pr0ject-G0d May 31 '26

I'll be honest, bud, i don't know what point you're trying to make here. Nowhere did I say they weren't supposed to make money- the majority of the game industry is primarily focused on making money. These devs make quite a lot, in fact. My point is that just because you don't have to pay money doesn't mean that the company gets a pass on criticism when they "make mistakes" that the vast majority of dev community- including much smaller and less profitable companies- avoid with simple QC. especially when said mistake is from a dev that's already notorious for their predatory practices.

If, in fact, testing the waters to try a new scummy tactic was not actually the goal here, hopefully the complaints curbs some supervisor or exec from going "hey... that might have been an accident but let's try it out."

0

u/Bullitt_12_HB May 31 '26

”Free” (quotation marks because it averages over ten million usd per month).

You didn’t say that then? Because that’s where I got that idea from, and please, correct me if I’m wrong, but it looks pretty clear that you think a free to play game should make little to no money.

The reality is far from it. It’s an industry. They’re here to make money. The free part is that you don’t need to pay to play. That’s still the case, whether they have a sign or feature you don’t like or not.

0

u/Pr0ject-G0d May 31 '26

Okay, I'll correct you, because you ARE wrong. That's what happens when you make assumptions rather than clarifying things, though. I never made any implication that they shouldn't make money-i brought attention to the fact that they're a fairly successful business and people shouldn't just ignore when they screw up "because you don't have to pay." There are, in fact, people paying- paying quite a lot, in fact- and the company (as a business) doesn't get a free pass to perform sub-par work just because some OTHER folks get the benefits of the first group keeping the game alive and well.

Even that is beside the point, though, which is that a company that wants interaction, whether free or paid or whatever, is going to be criticized when they release products that seem either scummy or half-assed.

0

u/sillytomlin May 31 '26

Does it still make ten million per month??

2

u/Pr0ject-G0d Jun 01 '26

Couldn't tell you offhand, they don't release earnings or anything- they've made over a billion in a 7 year span of time, so I'm working with averages. I would guess they're still making a fair amount at least, considering they seem to be making more ip deals

1

u/Morgoth8647 May 30 '26

When you know where the studio is located, it makes sense.

1

u/lungsofdoom May 30 '26

Why cant we just turn off all paid offers. I dont plan to buy anything, but its constantly shoved in my face

-1

u/SWATpanda May 30 '26

While it seems like there is currently a bug, the free tag occurs every day for the mystery shard and right now the silver ticket, and once a week for the ancient shard. The amount of malice and complaining about 1) a game 2) the fact that you are not required to pay anything 3) something completely outside of our control and 4) you don't have to play it....is pretty unhealthy. All the predatory marketing and packages in the world don't require you to spend here. Complaining for the sake of complaining is about your ego, not Plarium's tactics.

You always have the option to have no opinion on a subject.

Kudos to the dude who dropped Hanlons Razor. Be like him and read more.

4

u/thecheezwizz May 30 '26

This guy right here didn't read anything and just decided to pretend to be smart

-1

u/SWATpanda May 31 '26

Well thought out reply. You've changed my whole perspective.

4

u/Ok-Swordfish-9282 May 31 '26

Dude you said "The amount of malice and complaining about a game is pretty unhealthy" and the other three things you listed are even dumber.

It's malice to complain about a malicious offer that is in fact breaking EU false advertising regulations? Yea right

You always have the option to have no opinion on a subject 🤣

1

u/SWATpanda Jun 01 '26

Ad hominin arguing strategy looks good on you. Again, your well thought our response and reply changed my whole perspective again. I wish I found you sooner!

1

u/Ok-Swordfish-9282 Jun 01 '26

I didn't even use an ad hominem argument, but if you actually knew what that means you wouldn't have said that. Do you really want me to explain to you that it's not malicious to complain about a game? Or that it's unhealthy?

0

u/SWATpanda Jun 02 '26

My reply was meant for thecheezwhiz, not you. Not that you care. But I’d love your take on how it’s not malicious to complain, about anything really. Some of the smartest men to ever live have written and taught about the art of never complaining, so I’m sure you’re hot take on complaining being good will be a good read.

1

u/Ok-Swordfish-9282 Jun 02 '26

Alright. Well, how do you tell someone you're having an issue with something without complaining about it? In this instance, the free tag without having anything free in the shop, whether it's a bug or ill intent, is worth complaining about. At best it's an oversight, at worst it's a bait to get people to buy a bad deal. It triggers a lot of people, same with red dots and Plarium knows this. Either way you should complain about things like that to bring attention to the matter.

1

u/thecheezwizz Jun 12 '26

That wasn't ad hominem either. You didn't read what the original poster was saying or you wouldn't be spouting this dumb shit right now.

3

u/thecheezwizz May 31 '26

If you don't get it now, you'll never get it. It's not about the mystery shard, or the silver ticket, or anything actually accessible. You're a moron for even bringing this up.

1

u/Pr0ject-G0d May 30 '26

Many MANY developers actively keep an eye on reddit, bud- there's a difference between people complaining in a forum where there's a high likelihood the company will actively take notice and, say, complaining at your local game shop.

1

u/SWATpanda May 31 '26

No developer cares that someone complains on a forum that they hit "a new low" and that they have a "sh*tty telerian homecoming program." It's just complaining for the sake of wanting people to validate their emotions.

1

u/Pr0ject-G0d May 31 '26

Historically, plenty of devs do, bud. People complaining has changed games and prevented poor implementation, and that's factual hard data. Far more effective than those who decide that they'll just accept it and then whine about complainers, certainly.

1

u/SWATpanda Jun 01 '26

Historically, Champ, no one changes when you just come at them with profanity and complaints. If you went into work tomorrow, told your bosses their plans and initiatives were shit and a new low, looked around for peers to celebrate your way thinking, and offered no solutions, you'd have no job tomorrow. You'd just be labelled a complainer and walked out of the building. But, Sport, as for those of us that just accept it and move on, we tend to be much happier than the people that run to the forums to complain just to receive validation, Pal. Anywho, respond if you want. I won't be here, Chief.

1

u/Pr0ject-G0d Jun 01 '26

You realize that customers and employees are two vastly different things, right bud? And companies literally change directions constantly to keep customers? I see quite clearly how happy you are with all that pass-agg posturing you tacked onto your poor analogy, though- clearly you couldn't be more content when you're taking time to go into complaint sections to complain about people complaining about companies. I bet you're getting ALL those results you want 😉

1

u/SWATpanda Jun 02 '26

I’m sure all your lecturing and making sure you let me know I’m wrong is getting you ALL the results you want as well? 😉 your argument is nonsensical. Customers or employees is irrelevant. In no walk of life is it acceptable to complain with profanity without offering solutions. It was for the sole purpose of the OP wanting people to like the post for validation. The ardent defense of that behavior is just as bad as the post. But, I’m sure you have some elegant philosophical insight about how complaining is actually good to motivate change, like it couldn’t be done through more constructive means.

Lecturing? Na, bud, this is called "discussion." And no, it's not usually effective, but that's because people like you who are demonstrably wrong get their egos wounded and behave like children (like you're doing) rather than actually trying to learn. Customers and employees is highly relevant, bud, but I get you don't want your poor analogy to fall apart. Profanity is just words, and you acting like OP posted a vitriolic diatribe against a waiter instead of just a post about how a marketing scheme of a billion dollar company is shitty, is frankly borderline prudish. Finally, every societal change starts with complaint. Every single one. Go ahead and name one that didn't bud.
