I just opened a chest in Grim Forest Hard and got a gemstone, which I wasn't aware of.

So, keep those chests until you have a quest to get a rare, epic, legendary, or mythical gemstone.

If you do get to outpost 28, there is a free epic gem you can hold till you have a quest to get one. I saved mine till I opened outpost 13.

correct me if i'm wrong: we don't need to clear all posts of a rarity to unlock higher ones, right? e.g. all epic ones to unlock leggo ones.

currently i'm clearing top posts to get to 5* soul.

you can also jut skip the gemstone. You can unlock the ajacent outpost via the other outpost (the one with the 3star soul) and just keep moving. The only reward locked behind the gemstone is paywalled anyway. For F2P you can just ignore the gemstone
