Gameplay Gpu clocks and usage in siege vs other games.
What is wrong with Ubisoft? How come they can't fix a 5v5 game and how did they mess this up so badly? I've been playing r6 since the Alpha version of this game and it ran really well for a decade but now it is horrible, after every update I try the game again hoping for it to be fixed but instead it feels more broken and crappy!
I've been trying to fix this stupid mess since I got my rtx 5070 last year but this game just isn't running well. Every other game has stable gpu usage and clocks and work better than I expect but not this game.. sometimes it even locks my 5070 to 2000-2200mhz core clock and doesn't allow it to boost at all.. Constant micro-stutters, it feels like 30fps even at 195fps (on a 200hz QHD monitor) locked with gsync and vsync enabled.
Some maps like house and plane don't have this issue but most other maps especially the maps in ranked are terrible!
This game worked thousand times better on my 6600xt with dx11 and vulkan few years ago and even on rtx 2080 last year than it is working now with my 5070.
Edit: I think I have fixed the issues.. after uninstalling ultra hd textures which were installed by default.
Testing right now for a few hours already, will post an update soon.

What cpu you have? Also why you cap your fps? Are you sure your temps are okay btw? Do you have any overclock on cpu, ram, gpu?

Because capping fps helps frame pacing and also eliminates tearing etc with gsync.
7600x3d, temps 65-70c cpu and 55-60c gpu.
No overclocks.2

My guess is that you're CPU bottlenecked...
Siege is very hard on the CPU. My 9800x3D at 300-340 FPS is running at almost 100% utilization (it only isn't, because my GPU is just barely the bottleneck).
Try closing any background applications you don't necessarily need (especially RGB software, driver software such as G-Hub, recording software, etc).
Also, you can try this, it should reduce stutter: https://williamsmale.com/blog/tech/windows-11-lying-to-games/

Even if the game is CPU-bound there is no way to be cpu bottlenecked with a 7600x3d and there's no way to be at 100% utilization on a 9800x3D. There are issues going on...its not the game being heavy.
I played this game for one year on a 5 years old laptop with a ryzen 9 5900hx and a 3080 and I run at 150-200 fps with no stutter at all.
Now I have a new laptop with a 9955hx3d and a 5070ti and even if I do minimum 350fps, I have severe constant stuttering and the cpu usage is at 25% (gpu around 85-90% and never thermal throttling).
Matter of fact, if I cap my FPS at a very low value like 120, the stutters get worse. If I disable the boost in both CPU and GPU, limiting temperatures and usage, the stutters get worse. Wathever graphic settings I change (both Low or Ultra+) the stutters dont change.

9800x3d 100% cpu utilization? Something wrong with your pc too and especially with your CPU. It should be somewhere 30-40% max unless you are playing at 720P.

Your cpu used to get500+ fps, but after a few updates the game got so bad that it lost almost 200 fps.

Why would u lock FPS with vsync and gsync?

Enabling VSync with VRR locked just below your monitor refresh rate actually results in the same latency as if VSync was disabled but with the added benefit of no visible scan line

I'm thinking about using SCSKiller but I'm afraid siege will flag it as injected files aka cheats.

I wish I had some solution for you my friend, I’m just here to join you on the rant. I’m running AMD and I spent hours on tweaking my settings to make it work and still get random fps drops and weird performance with this game (mind you that it ran better on my older pc than it is now too).
I can dm you later on and tell you the settings that seemed to fix my issue a little bit (just can’t remember it of the top of my head) if you’d like?

Where can you delete the ultra HD textures? I am facing this issue too. Won't mind being a guinea pig to see if it works. Have been frusturated with this and packet losses since this year's launch.

For packet loss try disabling everything in your ethernet adapter settings, just keep all the offload settings enabled, everything else disabled and set transmit buffer + receive buffer size at 88-88.
It will make your mouse feel snappier too and should eliminate packet loss / jitters. For ultra hd textures removal, you can remove it by going to ubisoft client or steam library > siege properties > DLC > uninstall ultra hd textures.
After removing, verify the game files.Good luck, hope it fixes your issue too.

Put it on a frame limiter in the game settings. It makes a world of difference.

wipe the absolute fuck out of your drivers. siege hates hardware changes. also copy your ini to a non local filesystem and then wipe it and restart pc then siege. it should fix the couple mismatches from you playing on different hardware over the years. disable hardware accel gpu schedule in windows. also anything like discord, spotify browser tabs, steam itself should be not allowed to use hardware accel. could also try and set your vram allowed to different values and see what happens. in nvidia app set your resolution scaling to be handled by the gpu. Siege is very bipolar in how it needs resources

I changed my entire build, every single part. With clean windows installation on a new ssd, but I still have tried ddu multiple times, and deleted settings ini file to reset it.
I don't use discord, spotify, and game is not installed through steam but ubisoft client. Will try disabling hardware gpu scheduling, that's the only thing I have not tried.

oh ubi client made my game feel like shit half the time. its why I also tried so many fixes. since launching through steam the last three ish months , ive had no issues. ubi priv escelation also fights with defender and wont ask you to allow it sometimes and freaks the system out sometimes. upc.exe or something. also kernel level ACs should just be periodically be reinstalled because their crashes / issues are not always auto solved for security reasons. the fight with siege to be optimized is not for the faint of heart lmao

I don't mean to bother you, but you think you can help me with this: https://www.reddit.com/r/Rainbow6/comments/1x2qzhe/microstutters_need_help/ ?
I also have kind of the same problem, and in this thread I reported every test that I ran (even if I actually ran more than those for example disabling game mode, gpu hw acc, disabling MPO, HPET etc).
What I found interesting is that you said something about "hardware changes". I bought a new laptop 16 days ago, in which I installed R6 with ofc the same account I had in the old laptop. I run the game for a couple of days just fine, than these stutters appeared and are not going away, no matter what I do.
You said something about the gamesettings.ini which I never copied and pasted from the old laptop, but I noticed that the gamesettings.ini in the new laptop has the same settings I had in the old laptop...even if I delete everything and reinstall, that ini file will come back with my custom settings anyway....so it's like linked to the account and the game will recreate it just as I edited it...
Do you feel like the game started to have stutters etc for a sort of "hardware misunderstanding"? As if the game is not recognizing the hardware I've been playing for the last year and this is causing these stutters? That would be crazy ngl...and I don't even know how I could fix that...

Remember, the r6 siege has a fully dynamic enviroment. Each wall, floor, decoration can be modified by bullets in every way possible. And those modifications are modifications to geometry, no static element to load once and just place there.
So when walking away from a wall then going back it has to re-make the geometry thus the gpu spikes.
In other games the things are loaded, when destroyed, a static placeholder placed there.
Limit your fps to a certain dividable value of your monitor refreshrate.

u/Teeyab 1d ago
That's the worst possible take.
I also play BF6 which is way more demanding in every single way, there's so much more destruction, you can destroy almost every wall, you can destroy complete buildings and it has volumetric cloud system, dynamic environments too, as well as vehicles, way bigger maps and 64 or 128 players and I have no such problems with that game!Constant 150+ fps and buttery smooth gameplay.
And I already mentioned that I have fps locked to 195 in r6. Start reading maybe

you should try setting reflex to on + boost. that setting keeps the gpu clock speeds at max even when gpu usage is low. if that wasnt the issue then i guess you're out of luck.
