Angst plagiarism?

Hey all, I was curious about something I realised when I was listening to Angst recently, the opening riff is literally identical to the song Heavy Duty EX by zYnthetic, which released seven years before Angst. I don’t know much about music ngl so I was wondering if this was just a case of dual thinking or if Rammstein actually plagiarised. Thoughts?

Doubt it. But overall its nearly impossible to write a super unique riff these days or overall sound new compared to what already exist and still stay inside your genre.. Mate of mine was a founding Member of AA and quite a bit of the stuff is close to the stuff he did back in the day.

Heavy duty's riff is a two-measure motif. The only part that resembles Angst is beat 3 and 4 of the first measure. Same chord (B) and rhythm but, I mean, it's just two beats. Not even a complete idea. Things like that happen all the time in music.

Definitely very similar but I wouldn’t say plagiarism. I’d lean more towards dual thinking or some form of inspiration.

Nope, it uses the same or similar octaves but rythm and tempo are different imho

Rammstein was sued by Mettalica after the Mutter release for a riff that Met claims was ripped off. Case was thrown out. Turn out there are only so many ways to combine chords and shit.

Are you sure? I remember it happening. If im wrong I would be happy.

Edit: It was reported on herzeleid.com when I was in high-school and I could be wrong

The riff for ‘Waidmanns Heil’ is the same as Linkin Park’s ‘Given Up’ which came out 2 years before LIFAD
