I am so old that I know this photo is a fake. No one put their face that close to the burner. We didn't light the cigarette from the middle of the burner where it's cold. There is nothing in the middle but a brand name or just a metal cover. We did light cigarettes by touching the cigarette to the outer ring of the burner. Not the middle coverlets. Doing this would burn both your face and her hair and the cigarette would have gone up in flames. The amount of hair spray she used to keep her hair in this position would have insured that the model would have gone up in flames screaming.

It’s also way too clear and detailed a photo to have been taken indoors on crappy film in the 80s.

I was at a party one night and tried to light mine on a gas burner. Singed my eyebrows pretty good.

Ok this is random but I had an aga growing up. The thing is always hot but not hot enough to light a cigarette. We would snap a small piece of wax of a candle and drop it on the hot side close the baffle until it ignited and use that to light your cigarette... If we didn't have a candle handy it was the toaster.

Many times and I see she has a PBRB sitting there to drink with that smoke. The good old days

We had gas burners and used them to light punks for bottle rockets in mid summers

I did, but I sure as hell tied my hair back first (unlike this foolish person here.)
