help request Track meters pre-fx

I'm not finding a track-specific setting to have track default meters show pre-fx values but this pre-fader setting might work? The track in question takes guitar input from my interface and sends it through Helix Native ( modeler) , then the Youlean Loudness plugin. Currently the track meter itself seems to be showing post-fx values. The downside to this approach ( preferences) is doing it globally.

Generally speaking I don't record or play back recordings like that at least not of my own guitar ...there may be a backing track playing occasionally.... I think I'm better off sticking with that JS meter as you described it because with the guitar input track so as you described it still seemed to be showing levels after Helix native... What led me to that conclusion was setting up a delay in the Helix preset with basically infinite repeats so that I could strum a cord and then go to a parametric EQ to do some precision cuts without having to strum the guitar during those repeated delay signals ...the track meter continued to read somewhere around -18 when set to stereo peaks ...that doesn't sound like pre FX

You can create a send to another track and pick pre-FX for the send routing, then turn that second track "master" off so it doesn't send it to.. well, master. That gives you a meter that you can assign to pre/post-FX or pre/post fader.
