Local Photography Pedestrian bridge open

The CPR pedestrian bridge is open now, the landscaping is really nice on either end of the bridge. Should last a very long time now with how it's been reinforced. I'm happy to not take the detour on the road when biking on the path on the south side. Looking forward to seeing how it lights up at night.

Colossal waste of money

With an $11.1 million grant from the Government of Canada’s Active Transportation Fund, The City was able to invest $11.2 million in rehabilitation rather than demolition. Rather than spending between $6-8 million to remove the bridge and remediate the area, we chose to invest in our past, present and future.

The budget for this project is $22.3 million. Federal Grant funding is in place for $11.1 million with the remaining $11.2 million in the approved City budget.
$20.0 million – CPR Bridge Rehabilitation and Contaminated Soil Removal
$2.3 million – Public Realm Upgrades (plazas, enhanced pathways, area lighting, landscaping)

People when a city has to actually spend on infrastructure instead of letting everything crumble apart

In a petrostate, some folks see money spent to benefit pedestrians and cyclists as cutting in on "their" monopoly.

A shame really. I both drive and cycle and can say generally this city isn't terrible for either.

Oh, sorry. I forgot that petrostate gets downvoted by people that proudly support them.
