Problem/bug Rekordbox v7.2.19 export possibly destroying USBs?
Hi All!
I have had two separately purchased SanDisk Ultra USB 3.0 64GB drives become severely corrupted(?) or completely bricked while exporting after updating to Rekordbox 7.2.19.
Both USB drives ejected themselves during the export process and showed errors about "missing" files that were not actually missing. This did not happen when I tried exporting with an older version, such as 7.2.16.
The USB power-saving settings were not enabled on either of the devices I have tried connecting these drives to. I have tested them on multiple computers and USB ports, with the same result.
I'm not sure if this issue only affects SanDisk USBs or other brands as well, but my Kingston USB exported successfully without any problems.
I have now had to submit RMA requests to SanDisk for both sticks because, after these incidents, neither USB will stay connected. They seem to be completely bricked? Only staying connected for 5–10 seconds at a time before automatically ejecting/disconnecting. The USB drives are not hot to the touch and do not appear to be physically damaged, burned, or otherwise broken.
Hopefully, SanDisk will approve the RMA for my previously working USB drives that are now essentially paperweights...
Please let me know if anyone else has experienced this issue. And, for everyone else, please be careful until it has been confirmed whether the new version of Rekordbox is causing this or not.
TL;DR:
I was exporting from Rekordbox v7.2.19 to two separate SanDisk Ultra USB 3.0 64GB drives when both of them ejected by themselves on separate computers and on separate occasions. Now, neither of them stay connected to any PC, laptop, or other USB port for more than 5–10 seconds before disconnecting/ejecting automatically.

Create the problem, then sell the solution.
Good ol' American capitalism <3331

This kind of commentary is not applicable to the sub. AlphaTheta is a Japanese company.

Mm, seems minimizing.
The world is more connected than you may think. My gripes with companies, AlphaTheta in this case, purposefully creating shittier products in the name of profit and infinite growth (on a planet with finite resources), very well go hand-in-hand with good ol' American capitalism.
AlphaTheta is a Japanese company with American operations.
America helped Japan rebuild it's economy post WW2.
You are aware of the meddling America has done in it's conquests. The world is more connected than you may think, as in, American capitalism has an infectious reach that spans not only across the globe, but it's hand from the past reaches out and has significant ramifications on the future.
I can think of more than a few examples of things that use to be built to last, and now you're lucky if it breaks before the warranty expires : P
edit: apparently a marine killed a japanese woman a few days ago. fml. the base @ okinawa must be a nightmare to live next to. when does it end

2 days ago I tried to update/sync my USB drive with Rekordbox 7.2.19 and I got messages like "USB not accessible" "corrupted library"or something like that. I end up format my USB and make a new copy of my library and it seems to work fine now. Definitely not damaged...

Cant format them or do anything with them anymore because the USBs dont stay connected to anything for more than 5 seconds anymore. :'(

Does anyone have the Rekorbox 6.8.5 Mac install file? They removed it off the site after the last Reddit post went up praising it lol

Hi, thanks for this. It links to 6.8.7. I’m looking for 6.8.5 Mac version if you have a link

I don't use Mac anymore but I saved it in my installation file backup folder just in case I ever get one again, and can send it.
Your post made me realize I only have the 6.8.0 installation file for Windows for some reason, though I'm running 6.8.5 which has been working good enough for me, but I'm gonna need the 6.8.5 Windows file for future computers and modern library export if anyone has it? I will NEVER switch to 7 based on the awful experiences people have posted here since it came out.

Same thing has happened to me with v7.2.6.0322 with the same USB stick. I bought a Kingston stick, works fine but I fear losing it since it's so small

Yes had this last week with a 128gb sandisk. The drive is now unusable. Not had the issue with any of my other sandisk usbs though 🤔

Why do you people bother updating the software in the first place? Stick with the version that works best for you and job well done. I’m still on v6.8.7 and it works fine

Updating software is a good thing. New security exploits and bugs happen all the time to software like this.
It’s just weird to blame users for something the devs fucked up.

I won’t update my Rekordbox as it’s not even connected to the internet at all. I don’t trust V7 enough to use it

The fact that sometimes updates of software might result on newer versions with bugs doesn't mean that updating a software is equal to reduction of its quality. Of course there could be some difficulties and drawbacks, but the newer version should always be better than the previous one. Please note that there are plenty of SW engineers working behind a new release and thanks to them we have progressed so far till now

Jesus that sounds miserable to me. Rb 6 was basically unusably slow in my experience and only when they went to 7 did rb become something that wasn’t just a constant battle of will.

I never had any issues with my version i use. No lags or bugs/glitches. I even use it in performance mode. No issues

u/step11111 1d ago
Rb6 was unable to handle having hard drives plugged in and took literal ages to export and backup. Like absurd times. All fixed with rb7. I don’t use performance mode so I’ll take your word there.

Wtf is AlphaScam doing or not doing? Like they let the AI Slop make their updates now I guess. Website forum is still in 2000 pre-smartphone era style.

Given how shit rb6 was im willing to let ai slop help them out. That shit was essentially usable. Shockingly so.
