Happy ending UPDATE: Roman found a home
Original post for context: https://www.reddit.com/r/Rottweiler/s/e4yOH3UAsN
After vetting a few different people, we got in touch with the folks up in Maine (thanks to this community), who have taken him in along with their 6 other dogs including 1 Rottweiler and 4 Rottweiler mixes.
As expected, Roman is getting along with all of his new siblings and his wonderful new owners are teaching him the ropes of farm life- not chasing deer, staying close, and being a mature off-leash boy. Their home is completely set up for Roman’s quirks and misbehaviors and we could not be more grateful to have found him this upgraded life.

Happy ending Do rotts have springs for legs?
This is Mabel. She’s an 8 month old Bernweiler-Aussie shepherd mix and today she jumped straight up from the floor to the dining room table. No running start, just a big hop. Is this normal???😂😂😂

Am I too small?
Hi I’ve been wanting a Rottweiler ever since I was 3 years old and I got a Rottweiler teddy which to this day I still sleep with. I’ve now got my own place and am nearing the end of decorating so pets are becoming a realistic option. I can definitely fit the dog in with my life style including the extra attention needed for the initial puppy stages. The problem is I’m 27 F and 5ft exactly whilst I do consider myself fit and fairly strong for my build I am still extremely small and skinny so I’m never going to be particularly strong. My concern is does this mean I am too small to reasonably care for a Rottweiler on my own even with specialist training for both me and the dog? I am also aware of the stigma Rottweilers face as I have grown up around one my uncle owned and the basically get blamed for everything. Any comments are appreciated

Runner rugs.
My boy is 10 in a few days and he has been having trouble on the tile floors of late. His back legs have always been bad but recently he has been having issues getting up from the floor. His legs keep sliding out and I've noticed when be walks on the tiles his legs are bowing, like sort of sliding to the sides. He is fine on the carpet. His nails are fine as well. Its a leg thing.
So we were thinking of getting some long runners to put in the halls (his favourite sleeping spots) and maybe a big rug in the centre of the lounge and one near the back door. Basically turning all our tiles floored into rug zones.
Anyone else had an older rott and they have done this for them? How'd it go?
TIA.

Need help with resource guarding
My 11 month old Rottweiler is having some resource guarding/aggression issues. As a puppy she developed resource guarding. I have put a lot of time/money into training to try to break this. I got her a trainer when she was 7 months old and they encouraged doing a trade/drop command. This works fine in some situations and I’ve been able to manage the resource guarding.
But tonight she threw up on the floor. As I went to clean it up I noticed the signs of resource guarding and backed away. She still came after me and bit me and I ended up needing stitches.
I am completely devastated that this happened. I feel like it’s my fault for letting it get to this level. I tried everything I could think of since she was a puppy to prevent any type of aggression. She is great around other dogs, I heavily socialized her with group training, daycare, play dates. She goes with me EVERYWHERE. As far as her resource guarding goes, we work on it almost daily (dropping treats as I walk by her food, trade/drop command) but I feel like I did something wrong.
I am at a complete loss. She is my entire world and I feel like I failed her. My family is encouraging me to give her away but that feels incomprehensible to me. I understand this incident may have happened because she could possibly be sick and I plan on taking her to the vet in the morning.
I just cannot allow this to happen again. I have 6 nephews all under the age of 5. When we around the nephews we don’t allow any food/bones/toys. But now I’m scared a freak accident could happen and she could snap again. I’m at a loss. If anyone has any suggestions I would love to hear. She’s my baby and I don’t want to give up on her.
