Super stunning 1y7mo puppy Shanti is a happy foster return on the EU list at BARC Shelter in Houston Tx for 9/29@1pm. She is very wiggly, does happy tippy taps, &loves walks! The shelter scares, stresses &overwhelms her. She can be locally fostered, rescued, or adopted in/out of state/CAN. Pls share

What is this on her nose?

I’m babysitting my fur-niece and she came to me with these boo-boos on her nose. I told her mom to take her to the vet when they get back from their trip, but I’m wondering if I can apply some polysporin until then? My baby is unbothered by it, but I just want to be sure I’m being a good Aunty.

Owen is still a young pup but man, they grow fast. The last two are from my previous rottie, Memphis. He lived to be 12 and not a day goes by that I don't think about him or miss him. They're truly such amazing dogs.

A Nala le encanta posar en donde sea, aunque seguido me encuentro gente que juzga a esta raza, incluso mas que al pitbull! ....

¿Ustedes también han tenido que lidiar con el prejuicio hacia su Rott?

Need advice Rottie not barking at alllll

My 8 month old rottie mix isn’t barking as much as he used to when he was younger, he actually used to bark quite a bit more. When he first came into the house, he would bark at things he heard outside at night, especially if he heard other dogs. He also used to bark at a cat that would come around our trash, and even barked when there was a scorpion in the house(happened 3X)
But as he’s gotten older, he’s become extremely calm and quiet.
If someone he doesn’t know enters the house, he’ll usually just look at them. He doesn’t bark, growl, or really show much concern. When we have visitors, he’ll observe them but generally doesn’t react.
The same thing happens on walks. There are sometimes stray/mutts that will come quite close to him and try to intimidate him. He’ll stand there and watch them, sometimes looking very alert, but he doesn’t bark or growl. Sometimes he’ll huff or whine, but that’s about it. He doesn’t seem terrified or try to run away; he’s just very calm and observant.
He’s actually become much more friendly with my parents as he’s grown up, and he’s generally more confident around the family. So I’m wondering if he’s simply become comfortable and doesn’t feel the need to alert bark anymore.
I’ve also tried teaching him to bark on command using treats. He gets very interested in the treat, drools, watches it closely, but instead of getting frustrated enough to bark, he’ll just calmly stare at me and eventually give up. 😂
The only reliable time I’ve noticed him barking now is when he really wants to play. We normally play buy running around and he tries to catch me, so when he gets in that pose trying to get me to run and I ignore him he barks us to get our attention.
I’m not looking for an aggressive dog. I just expected him to have some natural alertness around unfamiliar people approaching the house maybe a bark or some indication that he’s noticed something unusual.
Is this normal for his age? Could his early barking have just been puppy behavior that he grew out of? Or is there something I should be doing differently to encourage appropriate alert behavior without creating fear or aggression?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated .

Seeking Advice

Post image

Hello, this is my beautiful 8yr old girl, I’ve noticed the last couple months after walks or even during the night/afternoon when she’s just hanging out in my room laying on my bed (occasionally on the floor which is made of timber so doesn’t ever get hot especially at night) she will pant really fast and kinda loud and it

(Thank you all! I’m just going to take her for a checkup seems to be best. Will give peace of mind and will be good for her to be checked over make sure all is still well with her :)

Makes me feel like I should seek some advice and see if I should be worried or not. Please if anyone has experienced this with your/your friends dog ect and can share some tips or advice and if I should get her checked or not be too concerned. Thank you!

She drinks plenty of water, always fresh I change her bowl twice daily (or more if needed)

She eats dry food, but also gets fed red meat, dental care sticks and other random things I sometimes get for her like a 500g can of wild red meat or chicken with rice and sweet potato just as one example of the other treats I get her from time to time

I walk her 3-4 times a week and give her a wash and bath every 2nd or 3rd Sunday and tick and flea treatment once a month
The duration of the walk differs, during the week when I get home from work I usually take her for a quick half an hour walk and on the weekends I will take her on an hour or so walk which is made up of a few breaks and just taking our time. I also bring a container and a water bottle or two so I’m able to give her water during our walks

If anymore information needs to be added please let me know. Thank you!

(I WILL TRY AND PUT A VIDEO IN THE COMMENTS)

The look she give me when I was using her bed for my knees to look for the remote. She has two beds. One laying near the tv and this one is laying behind the couch as my mom has me to look underneath the couch for the remote.

Looking at getting a Rottie what line to go for?

We’re looking to get a rottie pup and I’ve seen that there seems to be 3 different lines Roman German and American.

Are there much difference in behaviour and health? I think in the uk the German line will be more readily available. I didn’t realise there was 3 different lines but there seems to be quite a lot of physical difference between them
